Hey, I'm new, yet an old member. I'm from the middle of '04, and there are old members who still type like that, simply because that's how ignorant they are. I actually evolved past the chatspeak stage after my first 6 months on Gaia, when I started helping in the Questions and Feedback forum. I don't know why they still talk like that, but some people feel the need to.
Trust me, I've seen plenty of them. =D
