"Liluye! Liluye, where are you?" A frantic voice called as a yellow-gold blur swooped into the banquet hall, very nearly tearing down the decorations that had taken Iris and Koda a month to set up. Like Liluye, Tuaria had been down visiting with the taur, and like Liluye, she had only just heard of the new male egg's recent arrival. The news of the ceremony hadn't gotten to her until today, when her mother had sent for her to attend. Natalie, a pygmie holiday harpy, had relayed the message to Tuaria herself. She hoped she wouldn't get caught by her elders, but unlike Liluye, Tuaria wasn't so very good at remaining inconspicuous.
As the fast-flying harpy dove sharply to avoid colliding with a very intricate display of ornamentation, she tumbled across the room head over tail, a flurry of golden feathers leaving a trail in her wake. Finally, she came to a halt, looking quite frazzled as she righted herself. "Uh oh..." she mumbled guiltily, suddenly aware of her dramatic entrance. It would be difficult to avoid significant notice now. Luckily, her mother didn't seem to be among the harpies present, but she had no doubt her mother would learn of her doings soon enough.
"I'm sorry..." Tuaria apologized with a sheepish grin, crimson coloring her pale, peach face. "Um...am I late? Did I miss anything?" As she glanced around awkwardly, she spotted Liluye, her bronze-feathered friend with whom she had been conversing with earlier in the day. She raised her wing ever so slightly and chanced a little wave in her direction.

"Iridesce," Iris remarked shortly, nearly biting off the answer to Koda's question before it was out of her mouth. What a bratty question to ask. "That was what they were going to name me. Now if you'll excuse me," she watched Tuaria with gritted teeth, "I have a wreckless child to deal with." And then she was soaring away from Koda with a rush of feathers, reaching out to snatch Tuaria by the ear. "You, little miss, should look where you're going. Do you know how long it took me to put that display up?"

Liluye stared with a shocked expression during Tuaria's entrance, half hiding behind her wings as she yelled her name. She winced at the near collision, then again as she tumbled, before glancing around nervously. She waved back weakly, though still having one wing raised as some sort of weak disguise. And she'd been caught. Oh dear...she had to say though, that display was marvelously entertaining nonetheless.

((XD Do harpies even have ears? I assumed harpies, naga, and syrin didn't, but that's just my guess! At least, not human ears, anyway. Maybe bird/snake/fish ears? Which are more like holes, maybe?))
"I'm sorry!" the chick peeped as the intimidatingly colorful adult soared over to her, casting a shadow upon her much smaller form. "Umm...a long time...?" she guessed, shrugging shamefully. She wouldn't have wanted to guess an approximate date, considering she had been away from the mountains so long that she hadn't really been up to date with her colony's doings as of late. Of course, she couldn't let them know that.
"I'll be more careful next time!" she assured her elder, whose name had escaped her at the moment. Obviously with the way she carried herself and was so decortively festooned, it was obvious she was very important. "Um...please don't tell my mother..." she mumbled pleadingly, bowing her head low in submission, not daring to look into the adult's eyes. "I'll be good! I can help with whatever you need!"
She's noticed Liluye's returned greeting out of the corner of her gaze, but didn't dare respond; she didn't want to make the situation any worse than it was, and she certainly didn't want anyone to suspect her friend of something.

a weak smile brushed the corners of her lips as the child spoke back. lifting a win to point her clawed finger towards the front of the room where the mother was, she opend her mouth to explain, when the young Harpie she was talking to suddenly vanished as another tackled her playfully. her wing lingered up for a moment longer, shocked by the sudden event. lowering it back around her shoulders a moment later and watching the now two children cusiously

Koda felt her heart skip a beat as Tuaria nearly took down a week's worth of work. But none fell so she left Iris to scorn the chick involved and simply walked away.
"Iridesce," she tried the name on her tongue, it was nice, a pity Iris hadn't been able to keep it. Her wandering gaze landed on a dark woman watching over the events. Koda was unfamiliar with this other harpy, and that bothered her.

it would have been a pity if the decorations had been ruined, they looked like allot of care was put into them for this event. but she had found the satiation rather amusing, the careless nature of children, and the reactions it brought out in adults. by just looking at her colors she would have sworn that Harpie was a male, though she was quite obviously not. the sudden appearance of all that color swooping down and scolding the child drew most of her attention, but it didn't remain there long, as an odd feeling pecked at her, and she glanced to the side to see the other Harpie looking back at her. eyes flashing nervously to the ground, her feathers ruffling as she shook her arms uneasily.

Iris sighed, then released the chick. She shouldn't be taking out her temper on the little ones just because Koda ruffled her feathers. "It's alright little one. Go on and play. Just be mindful of the decorations. They took me a very long time." That said, she sent the little golden harpy on her way with a pat on the back and a light shove. Then, frowning, she glanced towards the brightly colored egg in the center. With all luck, it would have a better fate than she.

Koda hopped over to the dark woman, "Hello, I don't believe we've met. I'm Koda, may I ask your name?"

Liluye saw she'd been released and grinned, hopping over to her. See? Everyone was too distracted by the eggs that Liluye wasn't interested in in the slightest. They were just eggs, and when they hatched, they wouldn't be much fun to play with. "That was fun to watch," she chirped as she reach Tuaria. "But your landing could use some work."

it took some mental convincing but she looked back up at the Harpie as she hopped over, politely nodding her head as her name was shared, hesitating for a moment when her own name was asked as if she had forgotten it. "Try" the name came out as for of raspy squawk. her arms lowering slightly as she had then wrapped around her chest. "and now we are met, Koda" she continued. her smile widening a bit more, trying to make it look as pleasant as she could.
