Art is art. Some people think everything's art. Some people consider only paintings and drawings are art.
In a way, it's both short and long, because nothing is eternal; everything is destroyed at some point. So it's not short, but it's not forever, either.

Deidara believes that art is that fleeting moment you experience when you see something blow up -.- and yes, i agree (partially)
Sasori thinks that art is something that will retain its beauty forever (i agree with Sasori somehwat as well)
Art (to me) can be both of thsoe

-------------------------------------- I've always pretty much agreed with Dei's view of art. The fact that something beautiful was there one moment and gone the next just makes it even more beautiful than it was before. You can't stare at it until it's just there, until you get bored. You can always remember and treasure that fleeting moment of beauty you got to experience :'D --------------------------------------

It's really just personal preference, since either side can be easily backed up. --------------------------------------

I used to agree with Sasori, whole heartedly. I'm kind of embarrassed now, not only because I run a Deidara fanguild, but well, a very well written fanfiction helped me see how stupid Sasori's idea is.
I mean, I'm the kind of girl who likes Baroque and Neoclassical paintings, ancient Greek sculpture and architecture, and so I automatically thought that art should be long lasting... what art is there that is here one minute, and blown up or something the next, that has any worth to it?.... But..no matter how much I may love my fav types of art, they can't and won't last forever. Their creators may have intended it that way, but nothing lasts forever.. and like many of you have already said, if something is around for too long, it's value slowly begins to depreciate. Now, those paintings and all are worth millions of dollars, yeah.. but over time, they've decayed, they aren't worth the same in artistic value or beauty as when they were created. And just looking at things in nature, like rainbows, or a comet, whatever... it's there, but then gone so fast... yet the experience you got from that short time is worth more than staring at those old paintings for your entire lifetime. It's all about the feeling and experience you can take out of something, not how long it lasts.... So, after a lot of thought, I agree with you guys, and with Deidara.
Here's that fanfic, in case anyone cares... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3977568/1/Creative_Differences

okay i shall take a rare moment and spout some words of wisdom between bits of fluff
I find truth in what both sasori and deidara say and have based my opinion of art off of both of them. you see while Sasori says that art is eternal and should be cherished, and Deidara says that art is fleeting and gone in an instante, never to be seen again, I say that art is in everything and can be found anywhere. If you see the sunset over the ocean only once, as long as you remember it, it shall last a lifetime. If you tell others about this sunset, and if they tell others and so on and so on, it will last an etinity. All that needs to be done is to talk, imagine, and remember, and soon this sunset takes on a life of its own. With every retelling the storyteller adds and enfisizes and soon what was once a simple sunset, has become a romance novel. Thus is the reason why we must communicate and together we can make even the most mundane tasks into something that we shall cherish forever.

ShadowClan13 hmmm... what is the meaning behind Deidara's opinions of art? Sasori means that life should not be taken for granted and you should treasure every moment of it. What does Deidara think??? edit: please refrain from using chatspeak. We're all literate in here, remember?I believe that art is both of those together. They both make good points.

Art to me is...anything beautiful, odd, eye-catching, appealing, or just anything that stands out (in a good way) in general. I also think art is something someone can enjoy. Like music, writing, and drawing, of course. I also think that people and animals and plants can be art, too. Like art created by nature. And that it can be created accidentally. ^_^
I don't know. That's just my opinion, though. xD

I Am Deidara Deidara Thinks That Art & Life Should Be Different And Unpredictable and Then Go Out With A Bang....and It Would Be Rememberd Because Of Its Difference In The World....And Also JUST HAVE FUN!!!!And Live Crazy And Do Stupid And Fun Things Cuz lifes to short to be serious! Which Is Better Then Sasoris way (soory Sasori i still luv you!) totally agree on that one. but sasori does have a point in some cases. my art philosophy is that art can last forever, but then again, forever has to come to an end at some point. i'm a mix of both sasori and deidara when it comes to art. either way, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and deidara is a masterpeice!

Simple, Deidara thinks "Art is a bang." ...And I agree. Bascially, he's saying that art or anything of beauty isn't meant to last long. It goes out in a sepctacular aesthetic explosion. Art is a bang!! 3nodding
