Because if we're the most advanced beings on our planet, & they're the most advanced beings on their planet, we're bound to have some similarities. Think about it, the only way you can have life on another planet is if the conditions are exactly the same as on earth, so why shouldn't the life be similar or exactly the same as the life on earth?

You don't need the exact same conditions of Earth for life. For our type of life, yes, but for another type of life, certainly not. The necessities of life are determined by the composition of the planet they evolved on.
