Orange haired girl didn't quite enjoy the colour of green, but much the same that Ana thought Vanyel looked cute in orange, Vanyel thought the girl looked very becoming in green. Never before had she thought that the markings around her eyes looked like orange flower blossoms, but she latched onto the idea with a sparkle of excitement in her eyes.
The sparkle was replaced with fear though at the sound of the angry bush. Vanyel took a step away; she'd offered to help find the cat, not touch a demon in fur. "Oh, good. You've found him," Vanyel said hesitantly.

"I did," Ana said, not at all pleased with the accomplishment. Evie's cat was scary. "H-hey...hey, Oscar..."
The amber eye glittered malevolently, shifting onto Vanyel. A long, low moaning kind of growl whispered through the leaves of the rhodedendron, and a very large cat emerged from under it. Head held erect and ears flat against his skull, Oscar limped along out of the bush, a handsome and almost too-long tail flicking moodily. He passed by Ana without a second glance from his one eye and looked up at Vanyel in icy curiosity.
Ana made a small squeaky kind of sound, as though repressing the urge to shout at Vanyel to run for dear life.

The girl wouldn't have been able to run from the thing if she'd tried. It was...gods, it was not a cat she'd ever accept into her homes, though it had it's handsome sort of appeal that it simply knew it had but couldn't pull off completely.
"Ah. Miss? Could you...get him please?" she whispered, taking a tiny step back away from the beast approaching her.

Ana shuffled forward, though one haughty glance from Oscar's remaining eye froze her in her tracks.
"Nice kitty," she said feebly.
Oscar made an odd snorting kind of sound, as though mortally disgusted with Anastasia's cowardice. Inspecting Vanyel, he gave a curious high-pitched mew and sniffed at her, lurching forward nearly gracefully, his clubfooted leg dragging along.
"Mmmmf, Oscar, leave her be..."

"Yes...leave Vanyel be," the girl said hesitantly, though she forced a smile to warm her features. She disliked that she was being, well, rude, but Oscar really wasn't the young woman's cup of tea. He was really setting her on a bit of edge.
If Vanyel had pockets she'd have been searching through them to try and find something to throw and distract the cat, but it didn't even seem like that would do her any good in the long run honestly. "Good kitty..."

Ana gave a tiny whimper as Oscar got even closer to Vanyel, trying to work up the courage to seize the cat before he decided to turn the poor girl into a scratching post.
Oscar gave another kittenish mew, blinking his one malevolent eye up at Vanyel, and started to purr. It was a grating, rough kind of sound, as though he had fallen out of the habit and didn't quite know how to do it anymore. Rubbing against Vanyel's leg, the cat's rough purr intensified and a thin rope of happy-cat drool dribbled from his lower lip.
Ana's jaw dropped.
"He....he likes you..."

The orange scented girl shuddered at the touch of the thing against her leg. Oh. Gods. I mean, she was trying to be nice and all, but really, was it too much to ask for the cat to not be rubbing and drooling against her? There were meals to be kept down and boots not to be covered in cat slime.
None-the-less, Vanyel forced a smile upon her lips and gave a curt nod. "Yes. It seems like it certainly does like me. Fancy that," she said, sounding much happier about the situation that she really felt. It wasn't going to help her any by upsetting the poor girl, and so she preoccupied herself with pretending there wasn't anything else in the world she wanted to do right at that moment besides be as slime covered and loved upon as possible.

Oscar rubbed against Vanyel one last time before abruptly losing interest, stalking over to Anastasia and giving her an unimpressed look before sitting right in front of her and letting out an ugly yowl.
Ana picked the cat up obediently, wincing slightly as he sank his claws into her shoulder.
"Well then," Ana said, trying to be cheerful and see the silver lining of her new role as Scent-scratching post. "I guess I'd better get home. It was good to meet you, Vanyel!"
Trying to scamper off but slowing instantly as Oscar gave her a warning n**, she turned and waved goodbye cheerily.
"See you later!"
