Crazy=Raina

Raina finished the rest of her coffee and began to throw it out when she felt a buzz in her poket. It was her cell phone. Raina quickly opend it and saw it was from Liam. She smiled and sat back down. She wasn't really sure why she liked him. maybe it was that she was nothing like herself. That a thousand things aren't happening at once in his life. He was cute, and had time to breathe. Everything she has ever wanted...

Raina got back inton her Explorer and drove home. As she got into the door she was re-reading the text from Liam, to make her smile. Raina set her keys on the island and began to walk up to her room. Her 4 year old sister Brandi stoped her and tugged on her jeans and said "Play with me?" Brandi made a sad little face and gave Raina the puppy dog eyes. Raina just couldn't say no the that, right? "Alright, you can up with me to my room if you want." So Raina took her sisters hand and then got to her room and let Brandi in. She turned on her Laptop, and then pulled out her cell phone to text Liam back. 'I know I should call, but I don't have the time right now..' she thought. So she texted to Liam:
Liam,
Sorry this is a text, I'm watching Brandi at the moment.
Anyway, I agree we should get together some time. Ummm...
2pm sound good to you? i don't think i'm doing anything then. :]
If you can just call me. kk?
Love ya,
Raina

Liam stood once again in front of the refrigerator, trying to decide what to eat. He was hungry still but didn't want to actually make anything to eat. His laziness was battling with his need for nourishment and, sadly, the lazy streak was winning. Liam closed the refrigerator with a thud, not finding anything to his liking. It was times like these that he wished that he had a personal chef. He knew that it was the snob in him talking, but he was horrible at making even the simplest of meals because he so often got distracted from the task at hand and burned his food. You could call him ADD, but Liam preferred to say that he had an appreciation of life and all of its tiny facets no matter how small or insignificant they seemed to most people.

Liam gave up his search for food totally when he heard his phone buzzing once again. He loved and hated how sound traveled through the house during the day when he was alone. He sprinted to his room to get to the electronic device in time, sliding across his wood floor and grabbing his phone before falling ungracefully onto his unmade bed. "Hello?" he asked, a little breathless from the run to his room. He was greeted by a cold, empty silence. He had been in such a rush, he forgot to check who he was even talking to. He realized that no one was even on the phone, that Raina was just returning his text. He scanned it quickly, trying to get every detail of it imprinted in his brain. His heart soared when he read the closing, he knew that it was meant in a "You're my friend, so I love you" kind of way, but he couldn't help being perked up just a little by it before kicking himself mentally for being so foolish. He punched in his message that read:

2 sounds great. I'll meet you at your house then?
Say 'hey' to Brandi for me!
--Liam

Liam folded his phone shut and looked up at the ceiling, thinking about the day that was sure to unfold. As he daydreamed, his phone vibrated again, he never usually got this many calls in a week, much less a morning. He didn't think much of it though, just that Raina was returning his call to say that she couldn't make at two because of work or something. He opened his phone and said, "Hello?" still half-way in his dreaming state, probably sounding somewhat stoned to whoever was on the other end of the line.

Crazy=Raina

Raina just finished putting in a movie for Brandi to watch in her room when her cell phone rang. It was Liam's text. Raina smiled after reading it ans went to reply, it read:
Liam,
Sounds great. Can't wait.
Love ya,
Raina

Then Raina went and sat back down next to Brandi, she was watching Freaky Friday. Raina loved that moved alot.If only things like that could happen in real life. Raina thought. Then Raina went to her computer and turned it on. Her younger siblings love playing games on it. Thats why its never on.

((Ugh... writers block....))

"Oh, hey Liam" Agnes said in her tiny, squeaky voice. Many people commented on her voice, it being so different than most.

As she still had her laptop phone on, she also went to check her email.

She never usually had messages, but today she was slightly excited to find she had 2 unread messages.

They were both let downs. The first was junk mail from some company offering coupons, and the other was hate mail from someone from school. It read:

gosh your so laz-E! dont you evr leev da houze? i havent seen u n-e-wear 4evr! ur probabl-E 2 buzy sulking bout ur wittle daddys death. poor poor aggie. boo hoo, grow up.
toodles;
guessie who

Agnes frowned at the poor typing skills. She concluded it to be something from Maggie - a snotty girl from school she used to be friends with until she became depressed - and it being about something of her being sad.

Agnes shrugged it off, used to being taunted. She sighed.

"How's your soul today Liam?" Agnes asked.

Liam sat up when he heard Agnes' voice ring clearly through his phone, despite her quiet voice. "Hey Agnes!" he said warmly. He hadn't expected his friend to call him, they hadn't really been in contact all that much over the summer, both of them not being the most sociable people in the world. He waited patiently for Agnes' response, he knew that Agnes was hurt about her father's death and he had no idea what to say around her anymore, he had never formally given her his condolences or said anything to her about her father's death, he just acted like it didn't happen. Something that he knew probably wasn't healthy, but it was working out alright enough. "My soul?" he repeated, "I think it's doing okay, haven't really checked in with it yet today," Liam laughed nervously. "How's your soul this fine morning?" he asked, trying to stop sounding like a p***k, looking around his room at the crowded furniture, trying to keep his mind both off and on the conversation at hand.

"Mine? Oh.. just deflated, that's all.. " Agnes said, surfing photobucket.com for pictures of anything of interest, then checking her MySpace.

She yawned, and looked at the time.

"What're you doing today, Liam? Have plans with somebody or something?" Agnes asked, trying to keep the conversation somewhat alive.

Leasha came bussling in and started dusting things.

"G'morning, m'lady." Leasha said, curtsying.

Agnes nodded.

Leasha finished dusting and brought in a mini vaccum cleaner and cleaned the rug, then brought in a broom and swept the floor. After organizing every object in the room, she curtsied again.

"G'bye m'lady." Leasha hurried out of the room and off to another.

There was always something to clean.

"Yeah, I got some plans with Raina this afternoon," Liam said over the noise of the vacuum cleaner on the other end of the line. "You should come over right now. My house is freaking me out," Liam looked at the outer walls of his room, the gaps between his wall and his furniture mocking him, making him feel even more isolated than ever. "When I grow up, I'm going to live in a dinky little apartment that has bedroom/kitchen/bathroom with no extra space for anything. I'm going to American in Paris it," he said to Agnes, shuddering a little bit and trying to take his mind off of what could inhabit the space behind his expansive dresser. Liam didn't usually invite people over, but the impending dinner with his mother and the fact that him and Agnes were really similar helped him cast aside his inhibitions and just go for it.

Liam got up from his messy bed and started to pace around his room, staying away from the windows. The floor boards creaked menacingly beneath the boy's feet, causing him to stop his movement and just stand in the middle of his room, phone pressed against his face waiting for Agnes' response. He wasn't sure if she would accept, if she had something going on herself, but he was hoping that she could keep him company and he could keep her company on one of the last days before school.

"Right now? Okay.. Thanks!" Agnes squeaked, excited that there was something to do besides sit around that day.

"I'll be right over.. Bye!" Agnes said.

Agnes turned off her laptop, and rushed back to her room, and grabbed some soft, black socks.

"Bye Leasha!" Agnes practically screamed so she could hear in the giant house.

"Bye, m'lady!" Leasha replied, Agnes running down three flights of great big staircases, finally reaching the closet by the grand front door.

Agnes pulled out some shoes and slipped them on, and left the house, grabbing her purse on the way out.

She went around to the back of the house and hopped in her red Mustang, turning it on. As she drove up the driveway, the big black gates opened for her, and as she sped off, they closed behind her.

"Thanks Liam." Agnes whispered to herself.

Liam hung the phone up when he heard the dial tone, shaking his head. He wasn't expecting Agnes' enthusiastic response, but was glad for it. He looked down at his phone and saw that he had a text. He read Raina's message and flipped his phone shut, glad that she wasn't going to back out. Liam threw his phone on his bed and decided that it would probably be best to get presentable if Agnes was coming over. He opened his expansive walk-in closet and peered in at the various shelves of things he barely wore and picked out a pair of plain slightly worn jeans and a plain white T-shirt. This was his usual attire, something that irked his mother to no end. She kept buying him name brand clothes in hopes that he would take a liking to them, but they just hung lifelessly in his closet, gathering dust.

Fifteen minutes later, Liam was ready for Agnes' arrival. He made his way to the front room, a sort of modern-day sitting room where his family received guests for dinner parties and such. Liam sat on a white couch after lifting the shades of several tall windows. Liam looked around the room, it was a perfect place to take pictures. He had never thought about the room with its white, clean modern look to be a stark image of the loneliness he often felt in the house. Liam got up and padded across the modern-looking area rug and stood at one of the windows where he had a good view of the long driveway so he could let Agnes in when she arrived, becoming excited about the prospect of one of his friends coming to visit him.

Agnes finally pulled into Liam's driveway. Finding a reasonable position to park the car in, she turned it off and got out.

She made sure to lock her car, then walked slowly up to Liam's front door, and rung the doorbell.

"Hello, Liam's house." Agnes found herself talking to objects and animals more and more since her Father died and her depression struck.

She had only been to Liam's house a few times before then. It was a nice house. She probably couldn't walk through it blindfolded, but she knew it well enough not to get lost.

Agnes stood there and hoped Liam wouldn't be slightly annoying at her dash over to his house. She hadn't had any plans, and pounced on any oppurtunity. You'd be surprised at how many hours Agnes spent sitting around, staring into space and thinking about random things.

Liam watched the end of the driveway hopefully, not daring to look away for even one second. He had to admit, he was acting like a little kid but it was fun having something to look forward to besides sleep and forced conversations with his parents. Liam smiled as he saw Agnes' car turn into the end of the long cement driveway. He came away from the window at last and looked around the room to make sure that the house was presentable. This was an unnecessary act as the house was always clean even though Liam never saw anyone actually tidy it up. He was under the suspicion that elves cleaned it at night while he slumbered, putting silencers on their tiny vacuum cleaners and storing their supplies in some hidden cupboard in a part of the house that Liam had not yet explored.

Liam ambled over the door once he heard the loud chimes of the doorbell, putting his hand on the metal knob and sighing before putting on a big grin and opening the door and welcoming Agnes warmly. "Hey!" he said brightly, gesturing for her to come in. "I haven't seen you in a really long time! How has your summer been?" Liam ushered the girl into the high-ceilinged foyer, trying to play the gracious host to the best of his ability.

Agnes beamed. "Hello, Liam." She looked down at her short legs and then looked back up at Liam. "My summer? Horrible, painful, boring, but.. To make it simple- It was fine!" Agnes smiled.

She had to admit, she was really pleased she was able to visit Liam. Already she was feeling slightly better than that morning.

Agnes was going to whisper something to herself, but she restrained herself severely because she didn't want Liam thinking that she was weird and never inviting her over again.

"So how is your summer? Or, was.. Considering school's coming up." Agnes ighed, and scratched her nose. She dreaded school.

Liam closed and locked the door tightly, a habit that he had acquired since moving to California from Indiana. He turned to Agnes and frowned at her response. He should have known what to expect in her response, but this depression was somewhat new to him. Liam returned Agnes' fake smile with an equally weak line drawn across his face. "Well, my summer's been long. Yeah, that's the right word for it: long," he replied, leading Agnes into the large kitchen. Liam was looking forward to school. He got decent grades and it gave him something to do other than mope around his room all day and wish that he was doing something. Besides, his friends were there, his first real friends. The novelty of them hadn't quite worn off and Liam still looked forward to walking through the metal doors of his school and seeing the group of teenagers talking easily and turn to greet him enthusiastically every morning. Liam looked at the clock, it was already 11. "Are you hungry at all?" he asked his guest, stopping in front of the refrigerator. "I'm a wonderful cook. Well, that's not true, but I can make anything that comes in a box, can, or tube," Liam said, pretending to gloat.

Agnes smiled. Liam was a goof sometimes.

"Ah.. I'm not all that hungry. Thanks for offering. That's so kind." Agnes insisted.

Agnes wrinkled her nose, then questioned "So how's your Mother? Is she well? Has she changed?"

'Wow, eleven o'clock already? I hope the whole day doesn't fly by like that. I don't want to leave..' Agnes thought.

A loose hair fell in Agnes' face and she tucked it behind her ear. His kitchen was more welcoming than Agnes'. As a matter of fact, Agnes had never seen her own kitchen ever before. It was only the maid, Leasha who entered the kitchen simply because Agnes had no need ventuing to the kitchen, when someone could prepare her meal for her.

Liam shrugged as Agnes rejected his offer, continuing through an open doorway that lead to another open room with various rooms leading off of it and a long carpeted hallway that Liam didn't traverse down often. He wasn't quite sure what lay beyond all of the dark wooden doors. He had a feeling that it was just pointless extra rooms that his mother hadn't appointed a purpose for quite yet. Liam led to the foot of a grand stair case before turning to face her and answer her question. "She's fine. She's making money, so she's good as far as I know. I think that she's still under the delusion that I'm going to be taking over the family business," he said in an off-hand way, trying to sound as casual as possible and hide his apprehensive feelings that he felt for the dinner that his mother set up for him. "She hasn't changed at all. I'm sure that if you talked to her ten years ago you could still pick up an unfinished conversation without her missing a beat or have any sort of change in her views or sentence structure." Liam picked at the banister as he said these words, not meeting Anges' eyes. It was a bad habit that he had. He never felt completely comfortable with being candid if he had to look someone directly in the eye. "How's your mom?" he asked, looking up at the girl that stood before him, swiping a strand of dirty blond hair out of his eyes.
