I don't know, though Sesshoumaru is my all time favorite anime character, I always considered Alucard (from Hellsing) the ultimate God of the anime universe.
Oh I don't know. There have been instances where Alucard was obliterated to dust and he still came back. >_>
You see, I may be a great fan of Sesshoumaru (as fore-mentioned in my other post), but I do know when to draw the line and start looking at facts instead of my fandom. Yes, I believe Sesshoumaru is pretty high on the list when it comes to strength and whatnot in the anime world, but I really don't think he could beat Alucard. This is given from the fact that Alucard is really and truly immortal. As much as I hate to admit this, Sesshoumaru (no matter how powerful he is) is vulnerable to death like any other living creature. This fact has been explicitly explained during the Meidou Arc in the manga.
The whole reason why the Inu no Taishou gave Sesshoumaru Tenseiga was to teach him the awful and painful truth that if Sesshoumaru lets his ego cloud him over (like his father once had until he met Izayoi--which, by then, it was too late) then it would eventually lead to his own demise. Up until recently, Sesshoumaru had believed that because he was a taiyoukai, he was completely invincible and cared only for his own welfare.
In meeting Rin and Kagura and eventually coming to terms with his own feelings for Naraku's second incarnation, Sesshoumaru was forced to understand that even he has his own limitations and that (by gum!) there was nothing he could do to save Kagura and if he should let his ego and arrogance cloud him again, he may never be able to bring Jaken or Rin back no matter how much he tried (for Tenseiga can only bring the head back once). And so I digress.
My point is this: Sesshoumaru cannot be the supreme of the supreme overlord; and if he were real and you were to have this conversation with him, I'm sure that even if it inflated his ego, he would agree to it. He is not a god and he will never be a god. Like all living creatures, he has a fifty-fifty percent chance in being killed (whereas in Alucard's case this would be a 0.01% chance) and he shall not forget it as long as he lives.
