At one game for 06 season, it was wicked windy....and the sousaphones nearly flew away. eek It was right before playing the anthem before the game. You could literally see them trying not to fall over and kill half the band.....of course, guard was having difficulties too. Thank god we weren't using the 10-footers that year!
Our guard instructor for 05 season SUCKED....she didn't teach us the drill for the last tune until the day before finals, then blamed us cuz no one did it right. "Well if they did what I taught them, they could have gotten a better score." BS! maybe if you taught us when you were supposed to! mad
At one of our Memorial Day activities, the flute section leader nearly passed out at the cemetary.
One of the 06 season games, the guy filming halftime decided to zoom in on the quad leader.....right when he dropped his sticks.

I remember lastyear at a troy compeition....that our drummajor slipped going up his stand thing....but we still got straight ones...
then at theordoe competiton my shoe came un tied right when we got on the field..i couldnt fix it so i prayed i would'nt trip nd fall. but the bad thing is we had to run to our spots for the 3rd song.....
then at a football game a freshman lost their shoe...that was this year...it was horrible....
this didnt happend to our band but it did bakers...one of their players tripped while marching....

Last Saturday, big regional competition, we go up for finals.
Play 'bout...1/3rd of the first tune, and then my clarinet pretty much says, "I don't feel like playing any notes over middle C now plzkthnx."
Although it wasn't as bad as the time the thing fell apart during practice.
^^;
Not fun.

My freshman year, my tuning slide FELL OUT of my trumpet. gonk
IT WAS AWFUL.
The assistant band director, who I HATED, had to run out to the middle of the field, almost getting trampled by our guard, and then I couldn't play for the second half of the show. sweatdrop
And the worst part was, when we stopped in between numbers, I was trying to tell the drum major, and he told me to look for it... and you could see ALL of this going on when you watched the tape.
I was so ashamed.

I'm in the guard. for me dropping my flag or rifle is embarrasing cause it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb when you have to bend over when no one else is.

During our biggest show of the year (Las Vegas) I stumbled and nearly fell flat on my face. And a judge was RIGHT THERE next to me and saw. -_-
Last year a fellow flute player walked straight out of his shoe halfway through the show. xD Everyone was confused throughout the show when they would see a seemingly random shoe in the field.

we were doing 4 to 5's in this one part of our show and my mouthpiece flew out and hit another trumpet player haha
this didnt happen to me but a few years ago a sousa guy was marching and the entire bell and mouthpiece came off DURING a competition. it was soo funny but sad since all he had left was like the body with the valves xD

After doing a visual my shako flopped forward and was covering most of my face for about half the show. I couldn't see anything and messed up a LOT. It was a horrible experience.

Sophomore year: hit late on a vibe soli in the ballad; to make it worse, it was a competition, and the field judge was standing right in front of me.
Junior year (this year): dropped my crotale mallets, not on the ground, but on the actual crotale. In the first movement. In a pit solo entrance. With an effing BRASS mallet. Those mothers are loud, and it was in a dome, at the state marching band competition.
Oh, I also had to play my the damn things in the same movement, along with the ballad, and I didn't have extra mallets.
Again, field judge standing right there... that seems to be just my luck...

Freshman year: My younger half-sister was in colorguard and PURPOSELY HIT ME WITH HER FLAG during a performance. Knocked my shako almost comlpletely over my eyes. Had to march the rest of the show with my flute in a permanent horn flash so I could see where I was going.
Sophomore year: We did this move where we stopped, crossed one leg over the other and played for a bit, then uncrossed our legs and put our feet shoulder-width apart and leaned back while playing. I nearly fell over.
Junior year: My flute got tangled with a flag when I did a to-the-rear. Luckily, we were going in the same direction and she managed to untangle us while I kept playing before she had to do more flag work.
Senior year (this year): I stopped 4 counts early on a jazz run and nearly got run over by a sophomore flute during our LAST performance of our UIL show.
That's all I can think of right now but I know worse things've happened. sweatdrop
