::The Story Begins::

Co-post with Chaeval

She hurried down the sidewalk. Late. Again. Twice she had tripped trying to hurry as she left her loft. Chae was expecting her for tea. Effe wasn't quite sure why, but she felt that Chaeval needed the attention in some way.

As she thought that while brushing her hair from her eyes, she tried to remember how she and Chae had even met. Unable to see, she jerked her attention back as she nearly tripped and fell again. Sighing, she shrugged it off. It didn't matter anyhow.

They were friends. That's what counted between them, but that little niggle of worry still shoved its way into view as she found herself at Chae's door.

Knocking she waited, hoping Chae would not be angry at her lateness. But then, Effe was always late.

Chaeval

"You're late again, Effie." opening the door with a slight grin, she waved her in. "I cleaned up the floor, try not to trip over your own feet, and watch the kitties, okay?"

She hadn't yet put the tea on, knowing that it would be cold or boiled empty before the other girl made it. So she flipped the switch on now and waited for the water to heat up.

"How do you want your tea? There's also some fresh bread I made. You should try it, it's really good."

"Mmm.... I can smell it. It smells really good." then she giggled. "I'm ALWAYS late, Chae. You know that. Nearly tripped three times just getting here." Shaking her head, she then shrugged with a wide smile. "But I always make it where I'm going. I just like the roundabout way."

Her lips twitched upwards as she tried to smother more laughter. Unsuccessfully. Then she added, "Just a little honey is fine. I had notes tacked up everywhere to remind me I was supposed to be here today. I'd be lost without my lists. Of course, I forget them too."

Carefully, she made certain not to step on any kitty tails though she did stop to pet one on her way to the table.

"So how are you? Anything exciting happen lately?"

Chaeval

"exciting?" She gave a small an unhappy laugh. "Nothing exciting ever happens. You know that. Day in, day out, its all the same thing over and over again. Except when something bad happens....that's the only difference."

Turning off the water, she poured the tea and then rooted out the honey from the fridge.

"Nothing changes, it just gets more, and more monotonous as time goes on."

"You mean that I'm not exciting?"

Faux hurt dripped in her voice as she pouted slightly, sniffing. Then she just could not keep it up the pretense and broke into laughter. She knew now what was bothering Chae. She was lonely and tired of the same old same old. Everyone got that way at some point. Except her perhaps.

Her problem was staying upright and stationary. She was always tripping, running into or stumbling over someone or something. As scatterbrained as it got. But then a sudden idea came to her.

"Why don't you stay all night with me tonight? We could fix some popcorn, grab a couple of movies, or even some video games and stay up all night long. It's the weekend. What do you say? The kitties would be fine for one night."

Chaeval

"Exciting?" she asked. "You're like a train wreck waiting to happen. And Im not sure I mean that in an entirely GOOD way either."

There was a slight quirk to her lip as she said it though. Perhaps it would be as easy as that. A night out, away from the humdrum and noise and sounds...maybe that simple.

Was anything that simple?

Never.

Still, she was hesitant to deny her friend. Eftemie was a distraction, if little else sometimes.

"...all right. But I get to make the popcorn. You scorch it."

Effe snickered. "Most likely. I'd get distracted and we'd have the fire department there. Actually..." she confessed. "it's probably marked down as a hazard area."

She said, "Let's finish our tea and this yummy bread, then we'll fix it up for your kitties the night. And you can toss what you need into a bag and stay with me. I'm sure I can get us into some sort of trouble on the way back. I mean..." she grinned widely. "I'll most likely trip over something or someone before we get there."

"And I think some sort of movies that either keep us on the edge of our seats or something so funny our sides will be aching." she added after a moment. "A movie or game marathon."

Chaeval

"Sure." she murmurred. "Just like that."

::Missing::

Eftemie Solo

Her eyes cracked open. She wasn't quite sure she wanted to get up yet. Then she blinked, a flush spreading through her face as she remembered Chaeval in the other room. With a giggle, she sat up, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. It would not do to stay in bed late when there was a friend in the other room. Listening just before opening the door, she smiled when she didn't hear anyone moving around. Chae was late this time. Not her.

She peeked into the room, but then frowned when she didn't see her there. After checking the other rooms, Effie scowled slightly. Chae wasn't there. Sitting down at the kitchen table, she wondered where Chae had gotten as her teeth tugged on her lower lip.

"A note! Maybe she left me a note!" Jumping to her feet, she began looking around in the spots that Chae normally left something for her. When she found it, she frowned as she continued to read it. Chae was headed to a shop. She had written the address down and left for it immediately. Effie was supposed to meet her there. Keeping the note in her hand, she thought about what to take with her.

Chae had left her a list.

She snickered as she gathered her purse, held onto the paper, and locked the door behind her. Chae had remembered everything.

Effie got out the door and about 3 blocks away when she frowned suddenly. The advertisement about catfood on the bench stared back at her for some inexplicable reason. She blinked, her forehead furrowing as her teeth tugged on her lower lip.

Shaking her head, she mused as much to the air as herself, "If she went directly there, then she didn't check her kitties."

The eyes of the cat in the poster stared at her.

Effie shook her head moving forward, but the eyes followed her.

Two more steps.

Two more stares as they continued to watch her.

She glanced at the paper in her hand, the quickly shoved it into her pocket.

"Cats first. Then the shop. Chae will just have to tell me that I'm late again." Abruptly turning around as the bus arrived at the stop, she sighed. "Why am I always late? Just once I'd like to be on time."

Fifteen minutes later, Effie was standing in front of Chaeval's apartment door. She glanced around to see if anything indicated that Chae had been there. The mail was still in the box and she removed it to put it inside. Then she noticed the paper on the step in front of her. It was that morning's and delivered early.

Chae had not been there yet.

The kitties needed taken care of before she went to find her. That would help Chae in some way. At least she hoped it would.

Taking the key from the normal hiding place it was always in, Effie opened the door to see the cats sitting on the couch.

"Hello, kitties." she laughed. "Have you been good while she's been gone?"
Placing the mail down on the counter with the paper. Turning to them, she stopped for a minute to pet each one. They'd have missed Chae that morning and all through the night.

"Bear, Pumkin, and Cringer, I'm going to get you some food and water. Then I'm going to go find you mistress. And of course, I'm going to be late again." she giggled. "But you are all very important, so I think she won't mind."

Nearly a half hour later, Effie left the apartment. She even laughed as she remembered to replace the key and lock the door as she left.

Pulling the slip of paper from her pocket that had the address on it, she said, "And now to find Chae."

::The God-Killer::

Co-post with Chaeval, Draconayzia, Rhiannon, Prolixity, Arrikanez

Chaeval

It was quiet.

Too quiet.

The kind of quiet that...well...LOOMED.

Just like his nemesis.

It waited...lurked rather.

Soon.

Armed with the faith of a hero and the mop of justice, Byrne crept closer to the kitchen. It was time, his bones said. It was time to fight the evil and emerge triumphant.

Looking about as he crept, his small body lithe and completely controlled by his will. It was a good body, and knew its place. Which was not in the belly of the god-killer.

Draconayzia

Beryl had come downstairs for some food after a shower and a good nap. Her voice still had a bit of a scratch to it, but nothing too bad.

She was about to walk over to the fridge until she noticed Byrne. And his mop. "Byrne what are you doing?"

Chaeval

He looked up quickly, the bucket slipping over his eyes for a moment before he shoved it upwards.

"It's here." he answered. "I've got it cornered now." gesturing into the kitchen he rattled his mop like a saber, challengingly. "It won't elude me this time!"

She stared at the door several minutes. The door handle was slightly chilly in her hand, but she made no move to open it immediately. Just studied the portion of building in front of her.

*This is really silly, Effe.* she complained to and yet found amusement in herself. *If you are going in, then just go in.*

As she moved, opening the door slightly, her feet tangled and she tumbled in the door rather ungracefully. Arms and legs tangled as she landed with a plop. Her lips twitched upwards and she began to giggle at herself.

Draconayzia

"Can't escape? What in the ..... oh not the fridge!"She slapped her palm to her forehead, not entirely believeing the state of things. This was too much.

"At least fit your 'helmet' properly first."

Chaeval

"Shhhh!" he admonished "the great beast will hear you! And then woe even to those of deity bent!" his voice was as cross as only a child's could be. Still sweet, but earnest and annoyed.

"But I've got its number now! It can no longer hide!"

The added noise of Efetemies entrence only served to further confound him. "Well, it's about time!" he said "But couldn't you be quieter about it?"

Draconayzia

She was trying to be tollerant, really. "Byrne, it's just a machine to keep food chilled. See?"

She walked over and opened the refridgerator door to show there was only cool air and stored food inside.

"About time?" she blinked looking up in confusion. "About time for what?" She stared at him a moment and then giggled. "I like the helmet."

Her teeth tugged on her lower lip as she tried rather unsuccessfully not to laugh.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus slowly sauntered up to the building, his usual attire of jeans and a large, button up shirt gone. In their place was a pair of khaki shorts and a tight-fitting tank top. His boots came up to just below his host s knees, and the long locks of red and gold were pulled back into a braid that ended just before his lower back.

He opened the door and silently stepped in, his wings ruffling slightly and a slender brow arching above his sunglasses. The place appeared to be empty, but his large ears twitched as he heard voices coming from the kitchen. Humming to himself, he skipped once in that direction and then half walked and half pranced. Peering into the kitchen and tilting his head sideways, his pierced lips peeled away from his fangs as he gave them a rather idiotic grin and waved his tail at them, "Is it lunchtime already?"

Chaeval

Gah. Too many people to spoil the hunting. And no time to correct Beryl either.

"Yes, about time." he said impatiently. "Don't you know where you're supposed to be and when? Jeeze." he remembered that phrase from Chae. She used it alot.

Turning to Morpheus, he shook his head. "Don't give it ideas!" he scolded.

Didn't anyone know a god-killer when they saw it?

Prolixity

There was a whole collection of people in the kitchen. Prox stopped in the doorway, blinking. "Why are we staring at the fridge?"

Draconayzia

"Byrne, look, nothing!" She stuck her arm into the fridge, waved it around, grabed piece of chilled fruit and took it out to munch on.

"It's just an appliance Byrne." Turning to Prox she sighed and shook her head. "Byrne believes this fridge wants to eat me and the other dieties."

Rhiannon Everwind

The smile faded for a moment and Morpheus puzzled over what exactly was going on. Before he stepped into the kitchen he gave Prox a small shove so the boy went before him. He walked in and stopped next to Byrne, leaning forward slightly and narrowing his eyes at the fridge.

"Oh," He breathed dramatically after a moment, a hand coming up to cover his mouth. "That is horrible! Truly, and utterly horrible. Wait... the fridge is what we are cowering in front of, yes?"

Effe blinked again as yet another person appeared, but then began to giggle again. "I usually have a list for this kind of thing. This wasn't on it. So I wasn't sure I was supposed to be here because it wasn't on the list. And hunting fridges is not on the list either." She mumbled slightly to herself as she watched the others.

She put her hand over her mouth trying to stifle the laughter a bit. But it came out as a slight snort. Her laughter and amusement increased.

"I must definitely be someplace I'm not supposed to be."

Prolixity

"Oh, I remem - ow!" He stumbled forward, not having seen Morpheus there. The jewel on his arm flared with sudden pain at the touch, and he skittered out ofthe way, hissing.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus glanced to Effe as she giggled, but only for a moment before he looked over to Prox as he heard a hiss. He adjusted his sunglasses and then rolled his eyes, a loud sigh bursting from his parted lips before he stuck his tongue out at the boy.

"I barely touched you, don't ow at me, silly rat!" He said, a childish note carried in his voice. He absently rubbed at the stinging jewel in his right hand as he turned back to the fridge, leaning towards Byrne and speaking in a serious and slightly confidential tone, "We must destroy the abomination at once, yes?"

Chaeval

Double Gah. She TOUCHED it. Now it was certain to be awake.

"Things are not always as they seem!" he snapped. "You of all know appearences are the door to a deceptive room!"

That had sounded....almost adult. Puffing out his chest, he felt his helmet slip over his eyes. Annoyed he shoved forward and glared at them all.

"Fine!" he said. "I hope you're all sorry!" Turning, he gripped his mop tighter and then threw the latch to the door.

The entire room flashed brightly, a sickening wash of colors and vertigo as energy ripped through the room. Above it all was the sound of a childish challenge to armed battle...

and then silence.

Among the group that had been there...only Beryl and Eftemie remained standing in front of the kitchen, door to the now normal looking fridge clicking closed in mute reproof to the power of a deity slayer.

"OOmph!" Byrne said, falling on his rump, several thuds beside him. "See? I TOLD you that thing eats gods! You should have let me handle it on my own!"

He had lost his mop in the fall. And almost rollercoaster ride that had left them sitting in a place of total reversal. Day as night, and night as day. An influx of sounds and lights all aglow. "Now we're in trouble. It ate us!"

The voices were muffled, but hearable through the door of the fridge. A chiding, boyish tone, filled with displeasure at his fate of digestion.

Draconayzia

Oh great, she should have realized there was probably a snag in that logic. Who the hades used logic anyway these days?

Thoroughly frustrated and more than a bit frazzled she walked over and gave the appliance a sound kick with her foot. "Dragna ish ta ka rhei spit them out!"

Effe blinked several times as she stared at the fridge. Her jaw dropping open once her eyes refocused. She glanced at Beryl, snapping her jaw shut.

"Did.. did that thing really... eat them?"

Prolixity

"Ow! What - huh - the fridge WHAT?" Prox attempted to get up, and decided suddenly against it as his head spun. He squeezed his eyes shut, then opened them. No, the bizarre reversal was still in effect.

... maybe there was rather more to Byrne's paranoia about the fridge than he'd thought.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus yelped as there was a bright flash of light and a sickening dizziness washed over him for a moment. He curled his wings around himself and raised his arms to shield his eyes, but the next thing he knew he was falling backwards onto the ground. As he landed, he wings flared open and his hands thumped against the ground on either side of him.

"Oww..." He whined, putting more agony into his voice than he was actually feeling, "What was that? What happened?"

Chaeval

"grrr." he said, throwing his bucket down. Out of them all, at least the one person had believed him. Or rather pretended to. And he was stuck here too.

"Beryl!" he shouted. "Beryl! It's eaten us!"

Prolixity

"How do we get out of here?" Prox decided that his best course was to ignore Morpheus for the moment. He peered around at the bizarre surroundings, squinting at the strange color reversals.

Draconayzia

"I kinda guessed that!" She yelled at the closed door, rasping in her voice more noticable. Why her? Why today?

"What do I do to get you out?"

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus quirked a brow at Prox, trying hard for the moment to ignore the fascinating turnaround nature this place had. Whether it was actually the inside of a refrigerator or not, he wasn't sure yet, but he found this oddly fun.

"Don't be rude, rat boy, I know what you're trying to do." He gave Prox a wide, beaming smile before turning to Byrne, seeming to be quite content with his current surroundings. "We were never properly introduced. My name is Morpheus, it's nice to meet you!"

He cocked his head as he heard Beryl's voice, seemingly far away, and his large ears flicked. "Hello, Beryl!"

"Well, it could be worse, I suppose." Effe said, frowning slightly as she stared at the appliance. "It could have eaten us all. So how do we get them out? I don't suppose it would be as simple as opening the door and letting them out. No... that would be too easy."

What was it he had said? It ate gods?

"What did he mean by "it eats gods?" " she asked glancing at Beryl.

Prolixity

Prox started to reply, but the world got away from him.

"I know your name is Morpheus." The posture change was instantaneous. Revei leaned back on his hands and grinned upside down at Morpheus. "Hi. Now." He turned to Byrne. "We're in the belly of the beast?"

Chaeval

"The only way I know of getting out is not to get in!" he answered. "This...this was how it happened the last time." he whimpered unhappily.

Draconayzia

"Apparently it likes to swallow things with a god-like energy radiating from them. How it didn't swallow me as well is a puzzle."

Growling in frustration she kicked the fridge again, hard.

Effe listened to the muffled voices for a moment. "I see. He said this happened once before. How did he get out last time? And I guess that's the reason I'm still here. IT didn't like the way I tasted." She giggled. "I must taste bad to it."

The very thought of tasting bad to a refridgerator was funny and her snickering increased.

"I'm sorry. I have a tendency to find amusement in most things. If you can laugh, then you can survive it." she explained.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus's eyes narrowed behind his sunglasses for a moment as he studied Prox, his hand jerking up and pointing a finger accusingly at the boy.

"You." He said, his voice unusually flat. The childish air about him had disappeared in an instant, but as he sat hunched forward with his arm outstretched, he still appeared to be harmless. Slowly his lower lip jutted, the silver rings catching the unnatural light and twinkling dully, "This is no fun. I did not want to see you again in a place such as this."

Prolixity

"Did it spit you out again?" Revei asked Byrne. He poked curiously at the soft ground underneath them.

He flicked his fingers dismissively at Morpheus. "You're no fun. It was going to happen sooner or later."

Arrikanez

Still fairly weak from his long imprisonment, Nev'n has decided that it's about time to come out of Beryl's room, and "join the gang" so to speak. He staggers into the kitchen, holding himself steady with the help of the doorframe, simply watching.

Chaeval

*Spit me out?* He looked slightly heartened. *Oh yeah...it did! Right after I died, in fact....* he was cheered by the sudden though. *So that's allright then!*

Draconayzia

Hold it, if it ate it might be vulnerable to reactions to eatting. "Byrne, try giving it heartburn!"

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus snapped his fangs at the fingers Revei waved at him, though he was about a foot short of biting them off. His ears flicked and he grinned broadly again, the pouting gone completely and the giddiness back.

"You're the no fun one. You must have been stuck in your jewel too long to have forgotten this, yes?" He nudged Revei's leg with his booted foot and laughed rather loudly before actually looking around for the first time. "Interesting, yes, very interesting."

He stood up abruptly and wobbled, swayed, and then sank back down to his knees, a giggle loosing itself from his throat at the nauseating disorientation he suddenly felt.

Prolixity

"After you died? How - um. How badly did you die?" Revei inquired, looking thoughtful.

He scooted away from thenudge on his leg. "You know I don't like that, stop it," he complained to Morpheus.

Arrikanez

He wondered why everyone was gathered around the strange contraption in the kitchen. To him - it seemed somewhat absurd. But nonetheless, he watched, and remained leaning against the doorframe. He didn't speak - not quite trusting his voice yet.

Glancing over at the new person in the kitchen, Effe smiled. "The fridge ate three people. Byrne and two others. We aren't sure how to get them out yet. And I'm here by accident."

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus snorted and turned casually to Revei, stretching his leg out and purposefully nudging the other's leg again with his foot.

"You do not like anything," He complained right back, "I can poke you if I wish."

With that, he stuck his tongue out at the other Dream and then turned to Byrne, brushing his bangs out from in front of his eyes and waiting to see what would happen.

Arrikanez

"Hmmm... Wouldn't it be a simple matter... to open said machine?"
He laughs softly, and walks over to the fridge, weaving a bit, looking over the situation.

Chaeval

*Oh.* Byrne replied cheerfully. *I died pretty well. But that happens, you know. Then I rebirth and start all over. Like this time, only with a new host body, since the last time seemed sort of a different way of dying. But the god-killer...yeah, that was a pretty bad death.*

He cocked his head at Beryl's suggestion. *Are you sure?!* he asked.

Draconayzia

"You have a better idea? I'd love to hear it!"

She was getting testy. Too much stress on the body far too fast. Seeing Nev'n getting close to the fridge she gently pushed him back. "That's what I said right before it swallowed Byrne, Prolixity and Morpheus. Seems to like to eat those with the energy of gods. You're no exception."

Pushing her hair back from her face she gave another furstrated growl and kicked the door hard enough to leave a dent. If things didn't come to a conclusion soon she was going to unplug it.

Prolixity

"I don't think I want to try it that way," Revei mused. He edged away from Morpheus's nudge. "Brat," he muttered.

Arrikanez

"God.... energy? Whatever do you mean by that?"
He tilts his head, and looks at the refrigerator, not quite sure what was so dangerous about it.
"It does not look to be alive..."

Effe suddenly giggled. "It eats god energy." she repeated an idea suddenly forcing its way out. "I'm not. Shall I try just opening the door and seeing if it will let them out? I didn't think it would be as simple as opening the door and letting them out, but I could be wrong. If nothing else, no harm done, because it didn't like the way I tasted anyhow."

She broke into laughter again, followed by biting on her lip to stifle it. A shrug followed.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus merely gave Revei a sideways glance before continuing to look about the place. Very odd, he couldn't fathom how a refrigerator could do this, but apparently it was able to.

"At least it's pretty in here," He mused happily, stretching his legs out and leaning back on his hands. He relaxed his wings and curled his tail in his lap, a lopsided grin on his face.

Chaeval

*Allright!* he answered. *I wonder if I tried this last time...* he murmurred. Then concentrating, he lit a flame between his hands and poured the energy down to his feet.

The fridge shuddered. groaned, and even as Eftie was considering opening the door, the door flew wide of its own volition, flames spewing from the front.

Draconayzia

Beryl stepped in front of Effe and pushed her back right before the door opened. That was lucky. The woman would wuite probably have been badly burned. Thankfully her powers made her immune to the heat.

"Byrne! Stop the flames, they're spewing out! I'm going to unplug the damned thing."

Her feet tangled and suddenly she was sitting on the floor again. Similar to how she had arrived. Then she began to giggle again even though she was certain she would have been singed

"I guess he did give it heartburn." she smirked.

She'd seen some strange things from time to time, but a god-eating fridge was a new one.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus let out a mewling sound and scooted backwards before whirling onto his hands and knees. He swiftly crawled over to Revei and basically dove behind the other Dream, peeking around his shoulder at Byrne.

"Ahh!" He wailed, even though he was no where near the other deity. For a moment it looked as if he might burst into laughter, but then he pointed to Byrne and shrieked, "He's trying to light us on fire!"

Prolixity

Revei flattened himself on the ground, trying to shield his eyes from the brilliant fiery light. "It opened," he pointed out helpfully.

Chaeval

Responding, Byrne immediately stopped his magic. *It didn't help!* he offered unhelpfully indeed.

The Fridge responded to the new threat by immediately attacking the nearest danger to it. Not the plug! Opening its maw, it attempted to drag the remaining deity into its appliance fed power.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus quirked an eyebrow and placed his hands on Revei's back, on purpose of course. He leaned forward, letting most of his bodyweight rest on top of the smaller Dream as he frowned.

"Open? It's open now? That means we can leave, yes?" His long ears flicked back and forth and his tail curled in the air, but instead of moving off the other and towards the doorway he merely shrieked again, "It is not open! You lie, rat boy that is Revei!"

Draconayzia

Yelping when she felt the pull she threw her hands up and beat her wings hard, creating a small tornado in the kitchen as she tried to avoid being pulled in.

She failed in the end, tumbling foreward and into the beast's maw.

Prolixity

Revei yowled and wriggled. Another disadvantage of having this small body! "Get OFF me!" First things first!

Eftemie got to her feet quickly, shaking her head. What should she do? It was obviously going to try to eat anyone who was a god. Which meant she was the only one safe. Well, safer.

"No more gods for you!" she said, kicking it as hard as she could. "Now behave or I'll send you to the junkyard. They will flatten you out entirely and melt you down!" Of all the things she could do. Threaten an appliance she'd never have imagined.

Catching sight of the mop that Byrne had been holding, she aimed. Swinging with all her strength, she whacked it as hard as she could.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus watched, eyes slightly wide, as Beryl came tumbling into the 'refrigerator' as well. His nose involuntarily crinkled at the sight of her; though he held nothing against her, she had been rude to him and therefore he didn t really want to see her at the moment.

At Revei's cry he blinked and looked down, a brow raising over his sunglasses again. Slowly, a wicked grin played across his face. Revei had a smaller body, and that meant it was weaker as well! This was going to be very, very entertaining. He was tempted to stay right where he was, but he actually felt that would be too cruel. Ruffling Revei's hair, he lifted his hands and fell into a sitting position; his legs tucked under his body.

"I am very sorry, did that hurt?" He pouted then, his long ears drooping and his tail falling still, "I did not mean for it to, you are alright though, yes?"

Chaeval

chaeval wrote:
*Beryl!* Byrne greeted happily as she came flailing down to the ground. *Hi!*

Draconayzia

Beryl hit the ground hard. This was so NOT a good day. Witha grumble she rolled onto her knees and looked around.

"Well this is lovely. I think I'm ready to show this stupid ice box who's boss. You Byrne?" An angry Wind was not something to be triffled with.

Prolixity

Revei squirmed up to a sitting position and shuddered. His tail flicked with annoyance. "So, is that why you chose a female?" he asked conversationally. "I always knew you liked me, but I never figured you liked me like that." He batted his eyelashes at Morpheus.

"Is there anyone still out there?" he yelled to the outside world.

"Yes! I'm still here!" Effe yelled back as she faintly heard a voice from inside. For good measure, she whacked the fridge again. Twice. "I'm trying to get it to open back up! But it's not cooperating!"

Chaeval

*did you have another idea?* he asked her.

Draconayzia

Beryl grinned in a way that was very reminice of a predator cornering it's prey. "If you have enough energy to create some more fire I do."

She was tired, sore and now very peeved at being eaten by a kitchen appliance. Heaven help the poor machine that brought this upon itself.

Arrikanez

He approached the machine, and shook his head to clear it. Smiling, almost laughing, he steps forward, and bows as if to address the machine.
"Excuse me, Honored Machine... If you would kindly return that which you have eaten, we would greatly appreciate it."

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus paused for a moment, simply sitting there blinking at Revei. A small tint of color rose in his cheeks, half from being angry and half from embarrassment at not being able to keep himself from thinking about what Revei meant by that. He abruptly shot to his feet and pointed his finger at Revei.

"You wish!" He said harshly, every trace of ignorance and childish playfulness gone. "You're disgusting to even insinuate that I would ever think of something like that! Not only is it absurd but it makes me sick to even hear you say it!"

A muscle in his lower jaw worked as he clenched his teeth tightly together and his wings trembled with restrained rage, but he slowly lowered his hand and didn't say anything else.

Draconayzia

Seeing Morpheus her anger grew. The final straw broke. "Oh, shut up!"

Her wings flared, sending a gust of powerful wind straight at the newer diety. Didn't he understand they were trying to get out?

Prolixity

"Hit a nerve, did I?" Revei asked interestedly. "Good. Don't touch me, you hear?" He turned away sharply and stood, balancing carefully in the disorienting environment.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus growled loudly and was about to slap Revei in the back of his head when the gust of wind Beryl had sent his way knocked him off balance. He fell onto his side but was in a sitting position in an instant, a harsh snarl bursting forth.

"Damn you all!" He shrieked at them, his voice not without a trace of hurt, "I have done nothing to you and yet you all immediately mark me as the bad guy!"

Prolixity

"Hit a nerve, did I?" Revei asked interestedly. "Good. Don't touch me, you hear?" He turned away sharply and stood, balancing carefully in the disorienting environment.

Chaeval

Maybe all this yelling would give the god-killer a headache. Didn't some gods get born from a splitting skull or something?

Now if only the fridge had a head....

*I can manage.* he nodded. *but we could always leave some behind if they would rather be here than outside. I mean...dying has its place too...*

Effe sighed, stepping back. Shaking her head, she said, "I don't think talking to it is going to help. I already threatened it."

She suddenly snickered at the mop in her hand. "I didn't know what else to do other than hit it. Byrne was right about it and he had the mop."

Prolixity

"You're good at it," Revei said to Morpheus, somewhat spitefully.

He looked up, squinting against the clash and conflict assualting his senses. "I want out," he told the fridge, and listened very carefully.

Draconayzia

Deciding not to honor Morpheus' comment with a reply Beryl concentrated on Byrne. "All right then, we're going to try somethign. Lucius and I gaev it a try yesterday and the results were fairly impressive. Come over here, take my hands and concentrate on creating the brightest, hottest flame you can. I'll do the rest."

SHe held her palms out to him, already concentrating on gathering what power she had managed to scrape together.

Chaeval

*Okay. That's easy.* he grabbed her hand, and squinched his eyes shut, imagining a small glowing orb in front of him slowly increasing in heat and intensity. Brighter, and hotter, the colors turning from orange red to blue/white, intense and biting in its way. Slowly it began to expand from the size of a golfball, to that of a grapefruit, then a watermelon.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus's jaw twitched, but remained silent, through talking to Revei. Through talking to them all! Fine, if that's the way they wanted it he would just leave and never come back once he was out of here. Or better yet, maybe he should just stay in here while they left.

He still refused to say anything, though he watched them with disconnectedness from his spot on the floor, his arms crossed over his chest and his legs folded. His tail slithered along the strange floor behind him, and his wings unfolded and refolded against his back every so often.

Draconayzia

"Good, now make it grow and let me dirrect it." Her own eyes closed as she concentrated, a breeze kicking up around the youths.

Slowly, steadily it gained force creating a small whirlwind around them.

Prolixity

Revei observed. That was one of his capacities, after all. The brightness of the flame made his eyes water. He'd repair them later if they got damaged, though.

He, too, stayed silent. No distractions. Some part of him felt a nasty satisfaction at having made Morpheus angry. It was as it had always been, the way of the world. It didn't diminish the satisfaction to be aware that the other Dream would likely find something unpleasant to retaliate with. ... Much.

Chaeval

*I am.* he answered. *Can't do it all at once or it'll poof out. then I won't be able to again for a while.* From a watermelon size to the size of a spare tire...

Draconayzia

"That's ok, just try to keep pace. I have to go slowly too."

The growth of the flame was matched by the growing wind, picking up trailing bits of the pyre and spiraling them upwards.

She watched silently for a moment. "I think they are doing something in there. We.. might want to step back," she said, already backing up. Glancing at Nev'n she added. "I almost got singed earlier. Who knows what they are planning this time. Most likely a case of double indigestion since it appeared to work the first time."

Chaeval

SSomething was wrong. There was smoke spewing from the fridge. A think, black kind. It shuddered, and gave a sound almost like a belch, a fresh plume of tar coming from it, splattering into the walls and disippating.

Byrne frowned. It wasn't a big flame, but it was all that he could do now. He tried to concentrate more, but found it flickering instead.

*Beryl...* he said worriedly.

Draconayzia

"Just hold it steady for a moment Byrne."

Her teeth gritted as she put all her concentration into the gale.

There is no barrier, only a set of powers needing to be merged. Let it happen.

WIth a wrench her wings flew open sending the thundering gale spiraling around them, catching the flame and spreading it skywards.

Prolixity

He winced back from the brilliance of the light, and stepped back. The disorientation tipped him back onto the ground, and this time he stayed there, shielding his eyes with his arm.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus jolted as Beryl sent a spiral of wind upwards, carrying the flames along with it. He slowly stood and backed away a step, his eyes squinting even behind his sunglasses. It was beautiful, at least he thought so, but he wasn't going to say anything about it.

He glanced to Revei for a moment and a white hot flash of anger renewed itself in his gut. He brought his wings forward to encircle himself protectively, his tail lashing about behind him, and he turned his eyes to Beryl and Byrne again.

Her jaw dropped open as she stepped even further back. The smoke pouring out of the appliance caused her to sneeze twice. Whatever they were doing in there, it was major. Her lips twitched. She could see them blowing the fridge up and calming walking away from it. And Byrne.. Byrne would be jumping up and down, grinning that the god-eater was dead as he brandished his mop.

This was really no time to be amused, but she was.

Chaeval

The resulting explosion blew the offending fridge to so many shards of plastic, metal, and food. Scattered amongst the smoke, sparks, and mess were a group of very ragged deities in all stages of developement.

*ouch.* was all Byrne said

Draconayzia

Ugh! That was just disgusting! Beryl sat up slowly, wincing and more than a bit ticked.

"Byrne, remind me to listen a bit more closely next time so I can avoid becoming a one woman buffet table." Her tone was more than a bit scathing. She was tired and now she needed another shower. Perfect.

Rhiannon Everwind

Morpheus shielded his face from the flash of light and he heard an explosion of some kind, though it didn't sound all that close. Odd as it was, the next thing he realized was that he was sitting on the floor of the kitchen, no longer in the strange, reversed world.

He blinked a few times and shook his head, looking down and brushing a few pieces of plastic and food particles off his lap. Well now... that was interesting. He reached up and gently rubbed the left side of his head, just under his horn, and groaned softly as his head throbbed dully.

Standing, he swayed a moment before his vision cleared and the lightheadedness left, and then the anger came back. Without a word, he clenched his jaw and slowly made his way out of the kitchen, his stride uneven and his path resembling that of a drunkard.

Chaeval

He grinned, suddenly. Pleased amongst the carnage of such a memorable battle, the remnants of his nemesis...now vanquished once and for all (one hoped!) he got to his feet and bounced lightly. *we won!*

Prolixity

"The Phoenix is a mighty hunter," Revei said, with what sounded like genuine admiration. He shut his eyes and leaned back on his elbows amongst the remains, oblivious to the other people in the room for the moment.

Draconayzia

Peric victory, that's what this was. She opinted a finger in the air, making little cirlces. "Woo hoo. Now if you'll excuse me I need to shower and sleep. I am oficially drained."

Taht said she wobbly got to her feet and headed up stairs. A few moments later the sound of running water could be heard outside her door. Following that there was a muffled thump and a conctented sigh as she literally dropped on her cushion. She had more than earned a rest.

Ivynian

From behind them all, still in the wreckage, came clicking noise, like the repeated opening and shutting of an appliance door.

It was a small, dorm-sized fridge. And it was mobile. It walked, or jumped really, like something from The Brave Little Toaster. And it popped over to byrne and started affectionately rubbing against his side.

She silently studied each face as she watched them. Some were tired. Some angry. One happy. Walking over to Byrne, Effe held out his mop. Her lips twitched upwards slightly.

"Here. You might need it again." she said softly, smiling. "It did come in handy though I guess I'm not strong enough to use it properly. The fridge wouldn't budge for me."

Brushing the hair from her eyes, she stated, "I'll visit another day. I forgot what I was here for in all the excitement even if I was late. I'm sure it's on my list at home."

"The one I never seem to remember." she laughed. "I had fun. I think." Turning away, she headed for the door. She'd be back.

::Looking For Chaeval::

Eftemie Solo

Her step was light as she walked down the street towards her apartment. She'd forgotten all about looking for Chaeval at this point. Passing by a flower stand, she suddenly stopped upon seeing her favorite color and type of blossom. A moment later, she walked away with a giggle thinking how they'd look in that crystal vase she had. But then as she thought about it, she decided that they might actually look nicer in that old clay teapot in the center of the table.

At that point, she stopped at several other shops down the street before she made it to her block. Twice she had tripped nearly dropping the items in her arms, but each time someone had reached out to grab hold of her and help. Thanking them profusely and with several peals of laughter, she finally moved away from the crowded area.

By the time she unlocked her door and had walked inside, Eftie had changed her mind four times about what to put the flowers in. Glancing up at the clock, she realized that she should have eaten long ago. No wonder her critters, as she called them, were staring at her.

"Alright. Alright." she snickered, her eyes amused at them. "I'm working on it. Give me a few minutes."

After placing food in their dishes, she pet each one. They'd settle down later and she'd play with each one of them. After setting her alarm for the next day and writing out a list of some things she needed to remember, she shoved the hair from her eyes.

The sound of crumpled paper came from her pocket drawing her attention that direction. Slipping her hand in and pulling it out, she stared silently for several moments.

Chaeval.

A bit of worry slipped into her expression. Where had she been? And why hadn't she seen her? She was certain the shop she had gone to was the proper one. But then there had been a great deal going on. Maybe she simply missed her.

Carefully putting the address where she would remember it, Eftie decided to try again. In the meantime she'd check Chae's cats. In the morning and maybe... just maybe, Chae would be there and she'd not need to go.

--
"Three o'clock." she growled at herself. She'd planned on being there early in the morning to check on Chaeval and her felines. There still had been no word. No notes. No messages of any sort hanging on her door where Chae usually left a slip of paper for her.

It really bothered her that there had been nothing from her friend.

Thoughts of the children on milk cartons crossed her mind's eye and she snickered in spite of what she was really feeling. She'd have to mention it to Chae when she finally caught up to her.

"I hope she's there." she muttered. "I wonder what has happened. She never just disappears for no reason. Never."

She checked the spot where the extra key always was. Chae had always told her to let herself in rather than wait outside if she was expecting her. She wasn't expecting Eftie, at least not at the apartment, but after knocking several times and still getting no reply, she did just that. Let herself in.

The cats glanced up from where they were when she walked inside. After petting each one, she headed for the kitchen. Everything looked the same as it had. Where was Chaeval?

Scowling she muttered to herself absently as she fed the cats. Eftie waited around for a couple hours before leaving a note and heading for the door. She glanced around hoping that she'd done what was needed. She had fed the felines and watered the plants. There wasn't much else she could do. Was there?

Feeling like she was forgetting something, she paused at the door for an instant. A frown firmly set on her face, she opened the door. Feeling the brush of fur against her ankle caused her to flinch. One of the cats was making a getaway. Feet tangled and suddenly she missed as she nearly had it by the tail. A second lost in falling and then the rest were out the door and down the stairs.

"Come back here! Pumpkin!" she growled, on her feet and following at a run. By the time she reached the bottom step, the felines were nowhere in sight. Now she had not only a missing friend, but three missing felines to round up as well.

Some days were never easy.

::Finding Byrne, But Meeting Kaelin::

Co-Post with Chaeval, Merci`

Chaeval

Well...he had tried sitting, and on his head. Both times he had managed to get additional ideas, but it was because of others, and not himself.

Quite sad, actually. If he could keep his attention on a quasi-sulk long enough. Luckily for all, he could not. His attempt at anger showed that his emotional range outside the norm was quite an effort.

Laying on his stomach, he wiggled his toes and stared at the large bronze doors emblazoned with his edifice. What was IT trying to tell him?

She still had not found Chae, but gripped the slip of paper tightly in her hand. The address jumped out at her from the note that was left behind. Certainty that it was that funny little place where she had whacked the refridgerator slid over her.

It had eaten several of the inhabitants. And she'd used Byrne's mop on it.

A slight snicker rose to her lips as she thought about how she would ever have explained that night to anyone. She told noone. As she began to laugh, she opened the door. Once more she tripped over her own feet falling inside. With a laugh, she untangled her feet and looked around for someone who could answer her questions.

Merci`

Kaelin sighed as he approached the shop, he forgot a few things and wanted to check on his fish again. He felt horrible leaving them up there and was determined to make sure they were alright before heading out again. He stopped just short of the door looking down at a rather cheerful woman who seemed to have tripped on her way through the door.

Kaelin smiled at her and slipped just past her, his filthy cargos and stained button up missing all it's buttons left his chest exposed. "Good evening dear lady," he headed back toward the stairs after his polite greeting so he could feed his Koi.

She laughed. "Hello. Twice I've been here and twice I've tripped in that door. I was looking for someone. A friend of mine. The last time I was here, I helped Byrne with a ... what was it he called it? A god-killer? He had a mop and bucket."

Following him towards the stairs she wondered briefly if Byrne was about.

Chaeval

Running his fingers over the door, he sat down again, looking through the papers and sketches. Who would have thought a room was so hard to figure out?

Merci`

Kaelin stopped and glanced at her.. Byrne.... He hadn't met Byrne but an image of the fire god popped into his mind, provided by his host, along with some rather warm (pardon the pun) feelings. He turned to face her before going up the stairs. "so... your looking for a friend here? Most probably became a host but I could try and help you find out if you wish Dear Lady... you said their name was..." he looked like he was trying to remember, honestly he just enjoyed talking.

"A host?" she blinked. "I don't know about that, but she wanted me to meet her here. I'm late as usual." Shrugging slightly in amusement at herself, she continued, "Her name is Chaeval."

She began to laugh again, her lips twitching slightly upwards. "When aren't I late for something? I only found this place again because she wrote the address down for me on this slip of paper. But if she's not here, I could say hello to Byrne again. Do you think he's around?"

Chaeval

Sighing, he just tapped on the bronze. "Hello?" he said "What do you want to be a door for? What do you want inside?"
He figured it was worth a chance. If the Fridge could be a god-killer, why not ask the door what it wanted to be a door for?

Merci`

Kaelin rolled his eyes up at the ceiling and thought about it. He had never heard of this Chae before, she was most likely one of the other gods hosts. He dropped his green eyes back down to her and gave her a disarming smile, slipping up next to her he put his arm around her waist and said gently "I haven't met this Chaeval before, and I haven't had the pleasure of Byrne's company. If you would like, you could come up to my rooms while I feed my Koi, and we could look for them together."

Kaelin smiled and said "A garden of sorts, come it's up here. The Lady Beryl is currently... indesposed.. she has been very ill of late, however Byrne... I don't know, like I said we should perhaps look for him if he is your contact here. By the by, my name is Kaelin, I reside here as well most of the time.."

"Oh, I hope she feels better soon then." she frowned slightly. Being ill was not something she liked either. "Kaelin... I like that. Somehow I think it suits you." Letting him guide her, she glanced around about at the various doors. Curious by nature, she wondered about each place. "I had no idea it was so large. It certainly doesn't reveal it from the outside. I have a balcony garden, but it's not very large. No fish."

Merci`

Kae grinned at her and stopped in front of his doors, they were beautiful and looked to be a mixture of quartz and sapphire. He reached his hand up and touched the door, it fell open easily at his touch, the first thing floating from it was the sounds of water falling over stone. He glanced up and down the hall looking to see if there was anyone else up there. "These are my rooms, I have to care for my Koi then we can begin to look for your Byrne."

She blinked in amazement. "Such beautiful doors..." she began but then stopped as she listened to the sounds. "A waterfall? In your room? How...?" Her teeth tugged her lower lip for a moment. "Nevermind. Questioning something always seems to ruin the magic of it." Then she laughed. "I'd rather not. Just show me, please."

Merci`

Kae gestured and allowed Eftemie into his abode, he walked into something that looked like and underground Grotto, water trickled down the walls being streamed into a pond that covered a portion of the room. Inside were a rainbow of differently and exotically colored Koi. Kae took a deep breath of the humid air and gestured at the ponds, "these are my fish, I've been quite concerned over them as I haven't been here to see to their care." Pacing over to a set of nooks in the sandy colored walls he pulled out some food that was time released and moved over to the pond dropping it in to be sure they would be well fed in his absence. He looked over at her then knelt next to the water and reached into it and stroked one of the fish. "Do you like them, my rooms I mean?"

She followed him inside and stare awestruck at their surroundings. "This is... wonderful." she said, drawing her breath in sharply in appreciation. "I'd never have imagined this was here. Yes, I like them." She stepped slowly over to where he was. To be a clutz and fall in was the last thing she needed at this moment. "Your fish are beautiful. I would think they would love living here." A giggle slipped free. "I guess this place is much larger than I suspected. No wonder Chae said to meet her here. She'd have liked visiting here also."

Merci`

Kae gave her a very pleased look and sat back on his haunches. "It took time to think of what I wanted my private chambers to look like, but once I knew it was easy to allow it to become so. Every room here is different and matches it's owners wishes. Byrne may have some rooms here, in that case we could see if he is in them.. do you still wish to find him? The fish should be fine now they have food."

Kaelin nodded and took her by the elbow guiding her to the door. "Of course Dear Lady, I hope to see you around here more often." His smile was warm as he practially purred "New faces are a blessing, especially when they are as beautiful as yours. I shall have to look for this Byrne for you at a later time, I really should get some things taken care of. I hope you will be well Dear Lady until we meet again?"

Kaelin led her to the door and gave her a smile, "Your welcome to look at the doors along the hallway and see if you can find one that seems to match Byrne, that was all I was going to do, however I have a few more things I would like to do to upkeep my room. I hope you don't mind me taking my leave of you." He bowed lightly and stepped back politely closing the door, allowing her the time to look over the shop at her leisure.

::Finding Byrne, But Meeting Kaelin Pt. 2::

Co-Post with Chaeval, Merci`
Eftemie smiled as she walked away. She liked him for some unknown reason, but finding Byrne had become her main objective. Other than finding Chaeval. And of course, she was late. Although if she thought about it, she really wasn't late this time, but last time she was here since it was the first time. Of course, she had been definitely late then. Then there was the god-eating appliance in the kitchen. Chae would never believe her. Not in a million years. She'd merely stare at her and say, "You're late." and she would laugh and admit to it. Then they would both laugh because she was always...

Suddenly stopping, she glanced down, her lips turning upwards as she nearly stepped on him by not paying attention. "Hello, Byrne. What are you doing?"

Chaeval

He had tall trees...and water, and glass walls and not so tall trees. Nests and golden grasses and the firey warmth of a hearth.

He had sketches of them, at least. But something was missing. He knew by the slightly melancholy ache that assaulted him whenever he tried to bring all the aspects together. He wasn't entirely happy somehow.

Something still needed to be there.

But what?

He had spaces for his fish, and nests for buttercup, and grasses for his mice and fob and other small things. He even had protection from water which he distasted, and a perch from which he could sleep in the heights he was accostomed to.

Then what else did he need there?

The words took him by surprise and he rolled over on his back, staring at her with nearly crossed eyes.

"Oh... Hullo!" he greeted brightly "I know you, don't I?"

"Yes, you know me. I was here that night the refridgerator ate you and the others. I'm Eftemie." she said and then smiled more. "I thought I'd visit you and see how you were."

She laughed, sitting down on the floor beside him. Glancing at the doors in front of them, she asked, "Is this your room?"
Chaeval

He was sure that by now, he was quite simply getting bored. Staring at these papers had ceased to have meaning to him. He was tempted to merely go back out to his tree and stay there. A room had seemed a neat idea at the onset, now it just seemed like a headache.

He...wasn't good at important things.

Sniffling quietly, sprawled out as a cat with his wings unfurled, he stared morosely at the door as if asking it mutely to tell him what should be beyond it.

Annoyingly, the door failed to respond.

She watched him silently taking in the scribbling on the papers scattered around them. It was like he just couldn't quite see what it was he wanted. Her teeth tugged on her lip a moment, her eyes narrowing as he continued to stare at the door for some reason.

"Byrne, what's wrong?" she asked, wondering if he'd forgotten she was there already. "Can I help with something?"

Chaeval

He started, qings flaring a bit as he turned his head.

"Oh, hi." he said. "You were the lady with my mop, weren't you? How is it doing?" He wiggled his toes, but it was a rather forlorn motion now.

She giggled as she watched him. She could easily see that he'd not made these although there were several notes scrawled here and there that looked as if maybe he'd tried to adjust things small portions in some way that only he understood.

"I left your mop in the kitchen. Didn't you get it back? I was sure you would find it there." Pointing to the papers, she said, "Is something wrong with your plans? Don't you like them?"

Chaeval

"oh." he replied. "No, I didn't. I thought you took it with you. Poor mop, it must be lonely all by itself down there." he rolled over on his stomache. "Im trying to make a room. Only I don't know what I should make it."

"Your mop will still be there waiting for you. Maybe you can find a place in your room for it, too." she smiled. "After all it helped defend you against that thing that tried to eat all of you."

"Hmm..." she tilted her head slightly looking over the papers and then back at him. "This is a little confusing. It must be why you keep frowning."

Glancing up at the doors, she studied them for a minute. "Maybe you just need to see what is there already. Sometimes when you look at the actual things there, it will give you an idea of what to change. You'll know when you look at something if you like it or not, won't you?"

Smiling, she shrugged slightly. "I forget things like this even if I draw plans and just decide by looking at it what I like and what I don't like. It's easier for me. It might be for you."

Chaeval

"Harmodious made it empty." Byrne offered. "I have to fill it. But these papers are what it should look like. But Im not sure how it will work. It's important, so I don't want to do it wrong."

He frowned. "I always hate important things."

"I understand that." she said softly. "I forget too many important things sometimes. I get distracted."

Pursing her lips she stared at the door. Then she turned back to him. "I don't think there's a wrong way, Byrne. It's your room and so long as you like it, that's what counts, isn't it? And if you have room for things like your mop and your pets, then it should work alright. You can always change it later if you see something you don't like, can't you?"

Chaeval

"I don't know if I can." he said "I don't think the magic resets itself. I think once it's done, it's there for good. I want to make sure it's right, that way."

He sighed. "But I don't think it's right." he fretted.

"What makes you think that it's not right?" she frowned, wondering what it was that he felt he was missing. She often took things she saw and copied them in some way, but added them her way so that it was not the exact same as what another had. Maybe he had seen something or wanted something like someone he knew had in their room.

"Is there something that maybe you have seen somewhere else that you liked and wanted? Kaelin showed me his room with the waterfall and pool of fish. Maybe you saw something someone else liked and liked it too."

Chaeval

He shook his head. "I don't think so. I just don't want it to be wrong. There are lots of ideas here. But what if Im missing something?" he frowned.

She glanced at the papers again. "I'll help you if you tell where everything is. Maybe I can figure out what you think you might have missed. Then you can help me afterwards."

With a quick smile, she held her hand out. "Deal?"

Chaeval

He offered her the papers, scribbled, half torn, tattered and smudged. "This is what everyone gave me. But it doesn't make sense to me anymore." he flipped his wings. "I was...I was hoping maybe Harmodious could help. But he hasn't come out of is room."

"hmm.." she murmurred as she took the papers from him. Staring at the one on top, she turned it sideways. Then she turned it again. Then a third time. It still looked the same. Her lips twitched slightly. "This sounds really silly, but which way is up on this one."

She tried not to giggle, but then it just bubbled out. "I guess I could put that one aside and look at another one while you decide." Pushing the top one at him, she laughed. "I'll look at the next one."

Chaeval

He looked at it rather blankly. "Ea did that one. They're trees. Big ones. With cones and leaves and nests. But big nests and smaller ones, cause buttercup doesn't like heights."

He pointed to the one she was holding. "Beryl did that one. It's a bit smudged, but I think that's a river, and more trees, and a nest. And the wall is running water so the fish can swin in the wall."

He brooded for a moment. "But I can't remember well."

She blinked at it a moment, then smiled. "Oh! That makes sense now."

Pulling out two others that looked like it, she put one to each side of it. Pointing at the ones she had just placed down, she smiled.

"This one has your wall of water on it, but so do these two. Only partially though because there are other things there too. It's big enough to take up some distance. It gives them plenty of room to move I think, but also allows your pets to drink from it or play in it a little bit. That's what I didn't think fit." Turning to him she said, "That should work really well. And the trees will make it shady and cozy for the nests."

Chaeval

He frowned again. more puzzled than not. "But there's glass there to hold the water. They can't drink it that way."

"Glass over all of it? They need water to drink and if there isn't some open, then are you going to put down bowls for them? It would probably be messy." she frowned slightly. "Glass works for the fish, but if you have other creatures, they need a small pool or something to drink from."

She pointed to a spot in the drawing. "If you put it there, then it would look like the fish are swimming from it and up the wall. It would be really pretty I think."

Chaeval

He nodded "Will it get on me?" he wiggled his toes again "I don't like water much. It's wet."

He looked at the doors, then back at the drawing. The frown had not left his face. He really hated "important" things. They made him think too much. And thinking was hard...

"No, it won't get on you. It's just a small bit of water for them and if it's magical as you say then it won't ever move from where you put it. That also puts it in the corner away from the nests and the rest of the places that I can see that you would like more. And you don't have to put down bowls of water for them either." she smiled.

"I think that will work nicely and you still get to use their ideas they made for you too. I met Beryl that night, but I don't remember anyone named Ea. I must not have met them yet." she added distractedly. "Is Ea a friend of yours?"

Chaeval

"No." Byrne said "Im angry at him."

His tone didn't really sound annoyed though, as if he wasn't sure why he was angry at Ea. He wasn't. He just remembered he was.

"But he helped with the trees." he was forced to conceed. "He was going to talk to Harmodious about making them for me."

"I see." she said, her lips twitching upwards. "Maybe Harmodious just hasn't had the time to help you yet. I'm sure that if Ea asked him for you that he would. And even friends get angry at each other from time to time. I'm sure my friend is annoyed at me sometimes because I'm always late."

She was forgetting something and it was right on the tip of her tongue. But it just remained vague and would not show up for her for anything. Turning back to the papers, she said, "We've figured those out and what they are. Let's see what else we have."

Chaeval

"I don't think Eamnon is a friend." he said doubtfully, but then obligingly looked at the documents. It looked to be a long conversation...

She studied the portion with the water closer for a minute.

"Byrne, can you do part of your room at a time? If you did just a small portion of it, you might see what you want to change better than dealing with all these and getting them mixed up again. You could do the water and just put grass everywhere else for now. It might let you see what it looks like before you finish it all. I mean if it's magical, could it be done that way?"

She didn't pretend to know anything about magic. It just seemed logical to her that maybe he could do a small portion at a time and get it the way he wanted without having to worry about the entire thing. It seemed like alot to do.

::Still No Chaeval::

Eftemie Solo

Several days had passed and still no Chaeval. The cats were long gone and she still felt guilty about their disappearance. Some portion of her felt alone. Another part of her worried for Chae's safety. Yet other thoughts were distracted and made nothing of the missing friend at all. Whatever she was feeling in those fragmented moments, it was only ever prevalent when something thrust it into view.

A note here and there to remind her to check Chae's apartment-

A pen that Chae had left behind one day when she could not find her own-

A potted plant that bloomed unexpectedly in the sunshine on the windowsill- a seedling from one of Chae's own.

All these and more repeatedly grasped at her attention-as distracted as it was- to remind her that a friend was missing. But the most prevalent was the feeling of abandonment that was there. She missed her.

Then she got angry at her, growling aloud as she sat alone in her apartment at the window watching and waiting.

Waiting for what?

Even as the thought came to mind, an image of Chae appeared.

You were late...

Her brow furrowed slightly. "I was late.." she murmurred.

Then, "I'm always late."

She didn't wait.

Teeth tugged on her lower lip, worrying it slightly.

"I know she didn't wait. But why? And where? And how? And... oh hell!" she mumbled slightly to the air around her.

She didn't leave. She just didn't wait.

She didn't leave. She just didn't wait.

"But why did she leave?"

One paced.

Repetition.

The other sighed slightly.

Exasperation.

She didn't leave... She just didn't wait...

More pacing.

No fun.

Tiring... Hard to reach... such a one...

The voice in her head bothered her for an instant. A scant moment. Forgotten as soon. Like most things that lay scattered in disarray in her mind. Scatterbrained. Silly. A fool. All said at one time or another.

Her Id was comparable to having a tremendous cyclone pick up books, papers, images, ideas, friends, family, and a myriad of other substantial and intangible contents therein only to suddenly vanish in mid-stride. Unsupported the notions fell, some wafting back and forth lightly the way feathers do when dropped from a great height to see if they would float. Others careening in a downward spiral. Fast and hitting with a resounding thump. Shattered. While others merely hovered where they had been left, completely unsupported. Suspended and unknown.

If Alice lived in Wonderland and Peter Pan lived in Never Neverland, then Eftemie lived in an ancient surrealistic hall of void that caused one to sneeze constantly from the scattered fragments all moving at once. Their use was only long enough to stir the dust of moments causing it to hover, shining briefly in the air, but never enough to remove it entirely from anything.

A window would open to let the sunshine in for an instant and then it would vanish. The only true problem was that with an infintesimal number of windows opening constantly, it was blinding to her.

A portion of her was aware of this. But not. She was a stone. Sitting in a case.

For now.

Small snatches of thought from the one she'd chosen drew her closer. Her laughter as she tripped in the door had made her choice for her. It was a voice she knew well, but the mind dwelling there was scattered to say the least.

Tiring...

Very tiring...

Necessary...

I need her...

Day in and day out. Reminders would flash brightly and questions would appear. As quickly as seen, they were gone. The only constants were confusion in one and exasperation in the other. But as the thoughts began to settle, familiarity appeared. It led to more understanding for the first and lessening for one.

The rain pattered on the window pane as she stared out to the street below. Nothing was moving on this gray and extremely dismal day. Birds curled up in the windowsills next to one another in protection of the weather.

She suddenly laughed, thinking that she'd invite Chaeval over and burn some popcorn. Watch a movie. Play a game. Then she remembered that Chae was still missing. Something flickered through her eyes and then vanished as quickly.

Abandonment?

Loneliness?

Anger?

"Oh where the hell is she?!" she groused as she watched the person coming down the street pull their coat tighter as a gust of wind slapped the rain into them whipping the tail upwards. As they shuddered, her face scowled further.

Go back...

She blinked.

Go back... there...

An eyebrow raised as her eyes slightly narrowed still watching another person tugging on their clothing while waiting for the bus.

"Go back where?" she asked absently as a car's lights briefly made her eyes shine in the reflection.

Go back.. there...

She blinked again, eyes turning as she focused on the room around her. Nothing there but a thought came to mind for only a fraction of time. Eftemie burst into laughter as she smirked it to the air.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

Then it was gone and she was once more watching the lights that caught her attention.

Surprise echoed causing more sparkle within. Amusement shimmered brightly for an instant.

"So think... would eat..."

Tired suddenly.

"Perhaps.. right..."

Sleep.

Perhaps...

::Snicker Snack?::

Eftemie Solo

Sleep comes easily to some. For others not so as worries tend to pile up and bite their way into dreams. Eftemie slept soundly. Most of the time. Her dreams comprised themselves of much the same stuff her thoughts did. Scattered. Dusty. At odds with everything else. Distorted. And from only one stray thought.

This night was no exception, but she would, like all the other nights, pay it little heed in the morning's light. She simply wouldn't remember it.

Snores echoed into the air as she rolled over on her side. The visions dropped slowly downward as she found the point where dreams appeared to one journeying into sleep.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”

"Beware the Jabberwock.." she mumbled. "..jaws.. bite.. claws can catch... Jubjub.. bandersn.. atch.." A sigh was the only indication that she was where she had been drawn.

A scraping sound slipped into the air around her. Like nails rasping on a blackboard. A clicking as if walking on a slick surface it was not meant for.

She jumped, teeth tugging on her lower lip as her eyes darted here and there in the grayness which surrounded her. A tree stood to one side of her and she frowned thoughtfully as she gazed at it a moment. The leaves moved as if a wind was in the air. She listened to the sound it made for an instant. It sounded as if someone were beating a drum. Or several small drums for tumtum was the sound she heard. But it was only one sound and soon it softened as another made itself known.

"Tumtum? What's a tumtum?"

She blinked.

Thump..... thump..thump- click.. thump.. thump..thump-click..

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

Suddenly it sounded as if near her feet. Glancing down slowly, she blinked trying to see what was there. Beady red eyes stared directly up at her. Then a second pair and a third. Stumbling backwards, she felt something brush up against the back of her leg.

"Ahh!" she yelled jumping past them and backing up towards the tree. The leaves beat faster around her, drawing her attention for an instant. Then a third sound caught her attention, whiffling through the air. It came from the grayness just beyond. A faint red glow caught her eyes as the others encircled the tree and her.

"Jabberwock.." they sang, dancing to and fro. "Jabberwock comes whiffling through the tulgey wood..."

Trees appeared as distant visages standing tall though crooked around it. They welcomed it as she stared, blinking and wondering what she should do.

"Jabberwock comes whiffling.."

The creature came closer and closer. Its eyes beaming red as it stepped towards her.

The tree behind her lowered a limb, catching her attention. A blade was held in its grasp, twisted amongst the smaller branches.

"Jabberwock.. jaws that bite.. claws that catch..." they chanted still dancing around her.

A whisper came to her ear as if the tree was speaking to her.

"The vorpal blade goes snicker-snack... snicker-snack and off with his head..."

She blinked, pulling, tugging, trying to free it.

"Snicker-snack.."

"Jabberwock comes whiffling.."

"Snicker-snack.."

"Jaws that bite.. claws that catch.."

"Snicker-snack..."

The voices increased their speed as if one was trying to overpower the other. All the while, the thump..thump-click.. and tumtum of the leaves kept time. Panic slipped through her as she stuggled to remove the blade from the tree's grasp. When she finally did, the momentum lurched her backwards, the sword swinging downward in an arc towards the Jabberwock.

"Snicker...snack.." went the blade even if by accident. The jabberwock's head rolled free.

The sudden silence was eerie as she blinked, staring at what she had done.

"Time to leave I think.." she whispered softly. "But how did I get here...?"

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

“And, hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”
He chortled in his joy.

’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Rolling over in her sleep, Eftemie mumbled, "Snicker-snack... jabberwock's dead."

Amusement.

::The One Eyed One Horned Flying Purple People Eater::

Eftemie Solo to introduce Yeti

A violet phosphorescence lit the cavern faintly illuminating the walls, floor, and various pieces of a ruined yet once proud temple. Pillars rose upwards majestically only to vanish in jagged broken spires of what once was. Little remained of the marble steps that once sparkled greeting those who walked their path to their goddess. Now mere reminders of what once was. Echose of past glory long faded to dust resided there now.

The gray stone of the statue graced a marble pedestal in the center of the crumbling architecture. It's features- blurred with time- made one wonder if such a hideous creature truly existed for the artist to portray or if his imagination had run rampant through a nightmarish haze with a frantic midnight muse working overtime.

For an instant, the violet blue glow intensified flashing brilliantly up throughout the immediate area. Cracks appeared at the point where the pedestal met the curve of its body. Suddenly splintering upwards and around the entire surface. Violet rays of light gleamed from the inside, shattering outwards entirely, swallowing it in an iridescent burst that bounced blindingly around the ruins.

For an instant, nothing moved. The insects remained silent, refraining from their normal rubbing and clicking of bodily appendages. A slight breeze danced through, chilling, but for the briefest fragment of time, the only thing causing a disturbance.

Suddenly the purple monstrosity sitting in the fading glow, shivered, shaking as it merely balanced on the top of its marble perch where it had been frozen for who knows how many millenia. His single eye slowly opened. A raspberry hued orb glared peevishly around in confusion.

Did he know this place?

He blinked. The thought vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Still more confusion.

Cold.

He was cold, the shudders making his teeth rattle against one another for an instant. One wing stretched outwards, slowly inching its way to full length before slothfully drawing back as the other wing reached out in the opposite direction.

*Where..?* he thought, forgetting the other wing. Toppling off, he landed with a thud upside down rocking back and forth for a moment in stunned surprise, the huge eye blinking. The horn tipped him sideways making movement difficult so he simply lay there- thinking.

Chaotic images, sparkling from the depths of his memory as a temple of thoughts laced in vagueness, plopped firmly down on him. A rumbling slipped free, but was ignored in the mass turmoil that slammed into him. Too many feelings. To fast for him to digest. He shuddered again, but not from the cold.

Glimpses of musical laughter echoed sleepily from somewhere within his memories. The thought of *her* rose drowsily from the depths of his small mind nestled in the bottom of a very tiny brain. His jaw grimaced as his single brow furrowed deeply in thought.

*She laughed..* he grunted, then, *She....died....*

A flinch slid out.

*No laughter...*

*Dead... but...*

A gnashing of teeth as he contemplated the memory. At least the fragment he held in his grasp.

His eyelid closed for an instant as he continued to remain upside down on the cold rocky ground- remembering...

*Noone laughs..* her voice whispered, a weak transparent imitation of what it once was. Her hand reached out to touch him, softly stroking the top of his leathery purple body.

*Yeti... sleep..* Her hand became even more misty, nearly fading entirely for a fraction of an instant. *The last... sleep... until...* she continued softly.

*..until.. I need... you... again...* The faintest warmth of her hand reached through to him bringing a sigh.

*Again... When I need you again, my Yeti...*

Another rumble slipped out, but this time with a gnawing intensity that had not been there the first time. His stomach hurt.

*Hurt...*
he mumbled, rolling over awkwardly, wincing as he pinched one wing slightly beneath him as he righted himself. A task that was not easy when one only had wings and no other appendages.

*Tasties... Hunt..*

Thoughts of the violet colored morsels he'd once chased down caused his mouth to shape a hideous grin, revealing several rows of small sharp teeth angled inwards in much the way sharks were. Four long fangs, two on his lower jaw and two on his upper jaw, gleamed sharply as his mouth watered at the thought.

Violet wings pushed the air, tugging the body upwards into the air, lopsidely swerving right, then left as he tried to gain control over flying again.

*Tasties... Tasties.. Mmm..... Tasties...* he chanted as he began checking the surrounding area for the morsels he vaguely remembered eating with relish.

*Tasties.. then Lissss... come back... I find...*
User Image

It felt as if he'd not eaten in forever. His lips wrinkled in slight distaste as he spit the rat tail from his mouth. It landed to the side as he finished crunching the rest of the creature left in his mouth.

*Rat... not good..* he mumbled. *Yeti wants tasties... I member tasties. Little purple people tasties.*

Rocking from side to side, he continued grumbling, unused to this particular food. Considering it was all he'd been able to find, one would have thought he'd be thankful for it. Instead he grumbled. Then he suddenly snerked as her smile slipped into view. She'd have laughed at his grumbling followed by turning him loose on the tasties of various colors. Then with his belly full, he'd have wobbled back to her satisifed.

His eye shut for a moment as he tried to think what to do. Her laughter slipped out into his mind again. He needed her. He needed tasties and she knew where the best ones were. As soon as it was dark, he'd look for her. She had to be somewhere. Afterall, she said that he would sleep until she needed him.

Well, he WAS awake. Determined to find her, he wrapped his wings about him for warmth as he waited for the sun to set.

He would find her.

She needed him to find her.

He woke to his stomach growling again. After several more... rats... he grumbled about his diet, muttering as his wings lifted him into the air. One such as he was not meant for meals consisting of rats. That was for those mindless animals, but as he'd been unable to find anything else, it sufficed.

Hopefully he would find her soon.

For two days he watched the humans scurrying here and there. Several times he gnashed his teeth at them. From a distance of course. There were too many and he was only one.

Servants such as he were drawn by their gods no matter the form they took. It was a feeling more than anything else- an instinct- and he was no exception to the rule. His wandering aimlessly took him to main thoroughfares with far too many people, but also to those places where the buildings were smaller.

Urgency slipped through him. He must find her. Soon.
