But I'll try in my next post.

OH, sweet. cool
I actually had some time today and managed to come up with at least 20 new words (a big leap for me). I only know a few are in the prophecy, but any improvement is a good improvement.
I think I'll go through the prophecy and isolate each unique word so that I have a second word list (beside the Swadesh list) to work with.
I'm really looking forward to put my grammar to the test. Vocabulary... Bah, it works as long as I have enough words. But the grammar... You really have to test it to make sure, and it's really hard to come up with your own good examples. >_<
But now the questions is... Do I eat, play System Shock 2 in preparation for tomorrow's release of BioShock, or do I work on the conlang stuff?
Maybe I can do all three. ninja

Double post! Why? Because this will be a LONG one. I went ahead and went through the whole prophecy and made a list, in order of first appearance, every word in it. I know this will help me make sure I've got all the words, without having to fuss with grammar rules and stuff and having big gaps noting where a missing word or phrase must be created.
Maybe some of you will benefit from this list as well?
Oh, and, as most of us should know, words often have VERY different connotations from language to language (even dialect to dialect within a language), I added 'connotation notes' in parenthesis to give some detail as to how the word is used... Since you very well may have more than one different word for a single word in the list.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ I to reach (out) my hand England 's (of ___) river to turn (reverse) and (then) to flow other way (direction) enemy blood to stop in (inside/within) their vein thought and memory to fly (out of) head like (something else) flock (group) starlings (type of bird) to crumple empty sack to come to (someone something) them mist rain dream midnight raven that (does something) to fill northern sky at (some time) dawn when to think (to suppose) themselves safe (adj) cry to break silence winter wood (forest) to make (to form) door for (someone) to go through (passing through something) it (that thing) stone throne to sit upon (on) three (3) kingdom to give (to be given?) to be mine forever nameless slave to wear silver crown king strange (foreign) country weapon to raise (against) to venerate Hell as (something) holy relic plan (scheme) that (which) against (opposing) to preserve text (book/tome) to shed (blood) ancient battlefield to scrape (up/from) stained earth (ground) sacristan to place vessel (container) ivory magic valuable inheritance But (this happened) Englishmen to despise gift shall (will, future) to write sky by (some means) but (this other thing happens) not (verb negation) to be able (to do something, ...to read?) to read face stony hill mind to contain barren tree black (dark/evil, color?) writing to understand two(2) magician to appear first to fear second to long (for something) to behold (to look at) to govern thief murderer to conspire his own (ie his own) destruction to bury heart dark beneath (under) snow yet (something else still happens) still (adverb?) to feel (a pain/sensation) its ache to see dearest possession (owned thing) to pass (time? life?) alone gaoler (jailer) to tread (walk on something) road storm above to seek tower high (tall?) shadow ~ ~ ~
This didn't take long at all. Maybe 5 minutes... and I'm sitting here with my stomach sucking in on itself and struggling to stay conscious *wobble*
Anyway, hope this helps! It's ALREADY helping me! XD

I could surely translate it into Japanese, but no conlang.
I'm very annoyed with myself. I want to make a conlang, but I just can't. I love messing with the grammar, but I can't be bothered to make a whole language. I'm happy to play around with grammar using varaiables and nerdy stuff like that, but I wish I could take it all the way and actually make a language.
Sigh...

Well... I've translated the first stanza. :3 It took me about three hours all together because I was really quite distracted with my brother visiting. >__< I could've left out some words, for they can be implied, but I went 'all out' on it. Even though I should be reading and I still haven't. ^^; Quote: Neegree sala dather sal magrabpa la; Kokuko naye Bimča tsanpa La gat thoš khadönpa. AAAH TOO MUCH SYNTHESIS!
Look at the first line!
Naafkanlipxetonato majosanet nakokusetc, loyownapaaynaato lojownapaaynisnish shiret sowfaakokus.
Only 6 words. 6 really long words. I think 8 morphemes per word might be pushing it a bit.

I think 8 morphemes per word might be pushing it a bit. Can you give me a gloss on that? It looks interesting. surprised In Aquénandi, it's simple because a lot of these words are, supposedly, derived from the Proto-language. Hand, water, stuff like that, are all really old and basic. So it goes... Ruca ši norja; lišrislim äŋkladyr unprolja i ajrsoj unrislja.hand.ACC 1PS.NOM reach.PAST; water.flow.NOM.PL England.place.GEN self.spin.PAST and other.ADV self.flow.PAST

Thats a good idea. I actually tried to break down almost every word to the simplest bits possible, so it ends up with long words, and it turns out that the language is hilariously literal.
I actually made a mistake or two. Here be the corect version. I'm not sure how to do the explanation, and this is my first hack at a synthetic language, so feel free to poke holes in it. Jeez, its hard to get my brain around it. I think I've got like a freaking 20 ish individual morphemes in that one really long word. Brain..... dying.
Naafkaanlipxetonatow majosanet nakokusetc, Loyownapaaythanaatotchixolojownapaaynisnishoex shirosanet saanow faanisekokusoen.

How do you people do this stuff so quickly? scream
I'm still straggling along with vocab. I can't even translate the first line, much less the first stanza.
... Of course, it would probably help if I spent my free time focusing on Anzer Pex rather than writing this BioShock walkthrough, but, but... cry Maybe I'll make some progress over the weekend. I really want to do this!
