i fear death but not for the reasons alot of people do...cause i really don't have much to live for...but in my life we are really special sensitive people and i am terrified i will die and not be there to protect the ones i love, i feel evil around me, it has hurt me, and it has hurt the ones i love, and i can't let myself die because i wont be there to stop this evil that literally feeds off my family.

I greatly fear death for MANY reasons. Not one of them i can explain. As a small child i used to have dreams of just dropping dead...that may have something to do with it. But in any case yes, i very much fear death, who i will leave behind, how it will happen and what comes next.

My id, driven by instinctual self-preservation, fears it. My ego welcomes it as an advancement, a shedding of this body in favor of a spiritual one that I will be awarded at the Judgment Day or perhaps another temporary one if I have constructed a Golem by that point. My superego only subconsciously fears it, as it fears the pain it will bring to my loved one if I should pass before she.
My id has all the strength of a wet noodle, and while my ego is weaker than my superego, it easily overpowers my id. My superego, though strong, has a highly subdued reason, and so no resistance to the ego.
Conclusion: I may flinch when the Reaper takes me, but only reflexively - I look forward to the consequence.

I can't fear death. Its a natural part of Life. How I die doesn't phase me either. Once I'm dead, I'm dead, who cares how it happened. Worrying about 'how' is a mortal trait.
Death loves final embrace

As many people have said, it's not the death that scares me as much as the dying. Of course, I'm not exactly looking forward to the grave. I honestly have no idea about what might happen afterwards. Still, I figure it can't be that bad.
If there's nothing, then there's nothing to fear. If I become one with deity (in the pantheistic sense), then there's really nothing to fear. If I get reincarnated, then I'm going to ask for a break between cycles. If I go to heaven (or something similar), then I'll be content. If I go to hell (or something similar), then I'll have a good time with my fellow heathens. If I become a ghost, then I'll find a nice library to haunt.
((Please note the tongue inserted firmly in cheek on a few of these. ^_~))

I think many people fear death, because their not sure what lies beyond. The question as to weather or not this life is all there is has haunted man for ages. Which is seemingly why so many went in search of immortality in the early centuries. Fear of morality makes you human, after all.
Do I fear death? No. Nor do I fear dying. I never have, and thats mostly to blame on the fact that Ive pretty much been faced with death since I was little. -I grew up in a very bad city where its almost guaranteed that something bad happens daily - I was never taught that it was something to fear. I always say it as something that was going to happen. What lies beyond? No one can saw for sure. But I trust Ill be prepared for it when it comes.
It differs for everyone though depending on experiences and beliefs among other things.

Mr .406 What are your thoughts on death itself? Is it something that you fear? Why or why not? Death is not the end... ...it's only the beginning.
I believe in reincarnation, IMO, nobody really dies. We only get to be transferred on a different body or we could end up living as a spirit guide.
AUT VIAM INVENIAM AUT FACIAM I'll either find a way or make one

AUT VIAM INVENIAM AUT FACIAM I'll either find a way or make one I don't believe in reincarnation conclusively, but I DO believe in the possibility of it. I tend to feel we have to keep coming back to Earth until our soul has attained the certain knowledge. Have any of you read Dr. Brian Weiss? he is a psychologist that asked a patient under hypnosis to go back to where her troubles started and she did......400 years before.

I dont fear death. I think that I would fear dying if I was murdered or tortured to death, but death itself doesnt scare me I think of it as an embrace and that our bodies are just fleshy sacs of meat and bone that hold our soul.

I don't fear death...
However, I do fear the excruciating pain I might suffer before I die. >.< That's why I want a quick and painless death. Heh.
And I do feel this body is just a vessel. It's an annoying, fleshy, too high maintenance vessel. Argh. gonk So I welcome death, for it will get me out of this stupid vessel... stare
