Divash Plixy, have you seen http://www.shukronline.com yet? There are a lot of beautiful tops there. Also, if you're built larger, try http://www.lanebryant.com -- they have some non-covering tops, but they also tend to have long-sleeved, high-necked T-shirts that you can put under the less modest tops. The layered look is very fashionable, and you'll also be covered according to your religious laws, which will make you feel a bit better. I shop often at both places, myself. I get just about all my skirts from Shukr, most of my shirts at Lane Bryant (I have, ahem, a bigger chest), and most of my head coverings from http://www.tznius.com or http://www.modestworld.com . Yeah, I've checked out those sites but my dad doesn't want to buy things online cause he doesn't want to enter his credit card stuff or something? He thinks it's dangerous, I guess in a way it could be. Anyways, we do have Lane Bryant in the mall and I've been there a while ago, it was nice... but some things were pretty expensive. @_@;

I understand your dad's fears, but honestly, using a credit card online is no more dangerous than using one in an in-person store, where the sales clerk can just photocopy your receipt and signature, or even your actual credit card (front and back) if they want to spend your money. Or using a check -- I mean, honestly, do the merchants know your signature so well that they'd know by sight that the signature they're signing doesn't look like that of the registered user? Or carrying cash, which can get stolen easily.
LB's stuff can be spendy, when it's the good stuff, but you get what you pay for. It doesn't wear out as quickly as the cheaper stuff, so you don't have to replace it as often, and you wind up spending less money in the long run, albeit a bit more at the outset.

*sigh* Small world, hrm? Rest assured I have my face in my hands right now.
To intro properly, I cover my hair within church, not so much out of modesty (but, well, I don't wear microminis in church or anything) but more out of a loathing of how certain groups of people are treated in churches. I wear hooded stuff most of the time, and I dislike how the fashion is looked down upon by Christians. Besides, monks wore them, so I can too.
Oh yeah, and I'm a mental Catholic, too. 3nodding

I think we're in, like, every guild together. Or at least a hell of a lot of them. Okay, so maybe only three. But still.

And, Divash, I believe I've seen you in the Jewish guild (I use a different avatar for that, but still)...you were the one you had a recent horror experience at the hairdressers', right?

Yes, EnglishRose, that was me. I've recovered emotionally from that, though the haircut and the color still don't please me greatly. My RLSO (real-life significant other) helped a lot by reminding me that my hair is known only to RLSO and to me, seen only by the two of us, and -- I quote -- "I do think your hair is normally lovely, but it is not, by far, the most beautiful or significant thing about you. It's not even in the top ten. Don't let it become the focus of your identity or your self-esteem. This was why you originally started covering anyway, right?"
Is it any wonder why I'm so in love with this amazing person?

"Ouch?" What in the world is "ouch" about that? My RLSO said that my hair is lovely, but it's not the most beautiful thing about me. It's nice to know that, even thinking that my hair is lovely, my SO thinks that I have qualities that are even more beautiful. And, yes, that's why I covered in the first place. I wanted to remind myself and everybody else to focus on the parts of me that are actually significant. Things like integrity, compassion, dignity, thoughts, ideas, feelings -- not something ridiculously superficial and non-essential like my physical appearance, even though my SO finds my appearance pleasing.

You didn't offend me, I just think you misunderstood what I said.
My RLSO wasn't asking if dodgy hair was the reason I covered. The question was, whether I hadn't originally started covering because I wanted people to judge me for my mind and my character rather than my appearance.
