Kweu closed her eyes when the deed was done and her jaws slowly opened, freeing the dead animal's head to fall to the ground. She wasn't used to compliments and so she took his with a slight tilt of the head.
Her eyes met the empty sockets and she looked confused.
"Why did you do that?" she asked before she, too, licked the blood from her muzzle. She didn't understand it, really. They were just eyes, after all.

Haveo looked back down at his latest deed. Indeed, he never understood why he always had the urge to scratch out his kill's eye. "I...don't really know. It's just something...I do. I hate them...Dead eyes that is." He supposed the closest feeling he could get was...anger. Hatred. Even as a pup he just couldn't stand those...empty...lifeless...souless...eyes. He didn't understand his oddness himself.

Kweu looked from Haveo back to the mess where the eyes had been.
"I guess you have a point. Everyone has problems with something, I guess," she added the second sentence as an after thought and then looked to kill. The heat at her back sank back in as she returned her senses to the world around her and not just her job in bringing the antelope down.
"How many are in your pack?" she asked, still focused on the carcass.

Indeed, it was a rather good kill. Though for his size of a pack it wasn't enough to fill them. "Over ten." The pups were full grown and could handle themselves now. But he still constantly went hunting, bringing in whatever he had. Perhaps it was because he was just so glad to have others he could call family. He didn't want to let them down.

Kweu frowned and glanced away. She was hungry, but... Over ten was a lot.
"You can have it all, if you want. I can... I don't need it," she said, sitting down to scratch behind one ear. All things considered, she could always find something else later. She'd gone longer than this without food, so a little longer wouldn't be so bad, especially if she could tell herself she gave it up for a good cause.

Haveo blinked at the female. "No. I can't. I made a deal with you. Besides....I can't provide for all of them all the time. The younger ones especially, can't depend on me to have a meal whenever they're hungry." He wouldn't accept the other to go away without a part of the kill. It was something they had to share.

Kweu looked at him and tilted her head slightly.
"Are you sure? There, I mean... There'd enough for your pack members?" she asked, her tail twitching slightly in the dust behind her. She thought it might be nice, being in a pack. She'd met others who had been and their stories made her wonder if her experience was just an isolated one, that not all packs, not all families were like the one she had left as soon as she was able.

Haveo looked at the female, a gentle look on his face, a slight smile gracing him. "It'll be fine. We live well off frequent but smaller kills." Indeed. He made sure their stomachs were satisfied for a time, but they were never too full. If tey were hungrier for more than what was provided they could hunt that on their own. Such was life, it wasn't as if he was the only one capable of running and biting.

Kweu nodded and then fidgeted a little. She had never taken down something this large and when she had never had to share it. Several things wandered through her mind. Separating a piece for herself from the rest would be difficult for one thing. One of the few options for that was to eat her portion now and she didn't feel comfortable with that one. Maybe try and get part of the leg off... Secondly, how was he going to take it back to his pack?
"Do... Do you need help taking it back?" she rather blurted out.

Haveo stared a the fem a little it. She was obviously not used to the idea of having to share a kill. He thought about her offer, and how far away his pack was. It was a short enough distance for him to drag it without problem. But long enough for some other sort of predator to pick up the scent. And alone he stood no chance against any of the other kinds of predators. "If you'd like you may."

"If you want it, I will," Kweu replied with a shrug, trying to treat the subject as a trivial one. She always did have trouble doing that. It was odd, but since leaving her shade, she hadn't once wondered about her friend. He had often spoken of the possibility of someday having to go and help another that had been like her, but the thought never even crossed her mind. Perhaps this was that someday, perhaps not. The fact of the matter was that none of these thoughts crossed her mind today.

He looked at the fem before down at the rotting carcass. The longer they stayed in this one spot the faster some larger predator could come and try to snatch it all up again. Indeed it might be best if they got moving. But...he had a question for her. There was another scent on her, but it was pretty much just one. Unlike him who had several others...oviously she wasn't in a pack like him. Or else she would of insisted on the kill. "Did....did you want to see how a pack lives?"

Kweu looked off and her tail twitched.
"I've... seen the way a pack lived, but... I've met others who have been with different packs, different families and... I thought packs were all the same, but now I'm not so sure," she paused there, looking off thoughtfully. What was the harm in it?
"I would like to see what your pack is like, to see if they can be different from mi- the one I knew."
She had promised herself when she left that she severed all times to them. She would never call them hers.

Haveo smiled gently to her. "Then I suppose we should go." He stood, nudging most of the weight upon his back. This scene...was actually very familiar. It really wasn't that long ago that he had somehow convinced another female to follow him to his pack with a kill upon his back. He thought that was a little odd but didn't mind it at all. Was it just coincidence? Most likely. She was fairing well now. And the pack did trust his sense of others.

Kweu managed to get the rest onto her back and shared the weight, her ears swiveling around as they set off, wary of the possibility of others wanting the kill. Although she had considered it times before, she had come to the conclusion that she would never settle down in one place. Her heart just didn't seem to be in it. She'd met a very odd lion once, what she had learned to be called a "Songweaver" who told her about something he called Wandering Paws. Perhaps she suffered from it too. Or perhaps she just hadn't found her paradise. For that was the only thing she believed in. She believed that for every beast there was one place in the world just for them, a place where they would always be happy, their paradise. She just hoped she was right.
"Is it far from here?" she asked softly, still looking off and listening to the surrounding world.
