Anhur wasn't sure what to think, but when Esmerelda asked if she should leave a nagging voice in his head that made him want to say no, and he almost did impulsively before he remembered Ilmare was there.
Ilmare was quicker than Anhur at picking up on things, and she could tell that he'd like to just sit and talk with this other lioness, Esmerelda, and that Minty might be getting in the way like she was. The blue-green lioness had to think of a way to occupy Minty, and as she did she wondered if her and Kai would be good friends. She was just about to mention him when she remembered she didn't have Kai today, Silren did. "Hey Minty," she said, improvising, "what are you doing out here on your own?"
Anhur siezed the moment and padded over to Esmerelda. "No, you don't have to leave." He said, conscious of the fact his sister wasn't used to seeing him not grumpy.

((Okay, Sakura. ^^))
Esmerelda put her fourth paw on he ground as Minty landed on her back. She couldn't help but make a small 'Oof!' noise, even if the cub was small and pretty light. Her black and white tail swishing from side to side, Esmerelda did her best to look back at Minty.
But her attempts at turning her head around 180 degrees were intterupted as Ilmare spoke to the little cub and Anhur walked over. She looked to the pink lion, relieved to hear those words coming from him in addition to Minty. "Alright then," she said in a light-hearted tone. She seemed to have forgotten that the little green spotted girl was sitting on her back. "Thank you."
She still couldn't understand why Anhur had been speaking in that strange tone of voice before, but it appeared that he had gone back to normal now. And while this was strange to her, she made an effort not to show her confusion with a facial expression.

Upon hearing her name, Minty looked up at Ilmare. "I was chasing a dragonfly," she replied as she poked her head out from behind Esmerelda's. Suddenly, she felt the world around her shift. Everything was sideways, and something was dragging her down. It wasn't until she hit the water that Minty figured out what happened. She had accidentally slid off of the grey lioness's back and into the pool.

Ilmare remembered one day a long time ago when she had chased a butterfly, played with a water turtle and chased fish under water with Acantha. This little cub reminded her of herself as a baby for the most part, more carefree than she was now. She wondered what had happened to her carefree side, was it replaced with responsibilty that she put on herself? Ilmare was pulled out of her thoughts as she watched the green and brown baby slide off the other lionesses back, it was quite comical. "Are you alright Minty?" She asked as she laughed, wading over to her.
Anhur was glad Ilmare was paying more attention to Minty than him and Esmerelda. He didn't really have any feelings for the lemur colored lioness, but he often worried what his family and friends thought of him, and he wasn't sure why. Esmerelda had caught him in a vulnerable moment. Then again it was he who started talking to her. "So Esmerelda, where do you come from?" That was a dumb question, they live on an island. "Uh, scratch that. Um, what were you doing here?" Another dumb question, she had obviously come for a drink.

Esmerelda looked back at Minty as she slid off, a little surprised. She was about to show concern, but once she saw that Ilmare was coming to speak with the cub, she turned back to Anhur.
Of course, it was obvious that she came from the island. No wonder he took his first question back. But the second one was something she could get her paws around fairly easily. "Well, I came here to get a drink since I heard the running water. But the only reason I was in this area at all is because I was bored, to tell the truth. You see, I have no tribe, and so I don't actually have much of a social life. Talking with unanswering trees and insects gets rather tiring after a while..." The gray one chuckled and gave a wry smile. "A change in scenery seems to help." She nodded and blinked a few times before asking for the sake of conversation, "And you? Why were you here?"

Anhur felt a little stupid with his questions. He could have asked anything else, and yet he drew blanks every time. Nevertheless a conversation was happening, and he thought he was getting a little better at it. "It's kind of the same for me. I don't have a tribe either, but I do have family and friends to talk to and socialize with." Yes, having friends and a family, even if it was an adopted one, felt pretty good. They loved you no matter what, and vice versa. "I was taking a break from babysitting my adopted little brother Kaimana. He's not a handful, far from it, but it's Silren's turn to watch him today. So I decided to just think about things." He didn't really want to say what it was he was thinking about, as most of the time it was just depressing for him, and sometimes he didn't even really think, and if he did he didn't know what about. "And then I stumbled across that grotto, I didn't even hear the waterfall until I realized where I was. I didn't even really think of it as a good place to make a territory out of until you asked if it was my territory, I just thought it would be a nice place to come and think and be alone if I needed it."

The lioness thought to herself, 'So he was thinking out here, alone?' The smile slid off of Esmerelda's face. She couldn't quite grasp why anyone would particularly want to be alone... Then again, if she had had a family to be around constantly, this might not have been a question for her. She had always been one to just entertain herself, getting company whenever she could. But it was never for very long, and so she had plenty of time alone without ever having to seek it. She decided to drop the matter.
"Well," she continued on, a cheery grin returning to her lips, "I didn't see or smell any marks as I was walking through... Perhaps you could just set this place out for yourself? It does seem as if it is unclaimed..." She could hardly believe she was suggesting this. She basically wandered and flew among the uninhabited places throughout the island, never really getting too close to known territories. And here she was, crossing out a possible place to rest for a while with her suggestion to Anhur. But the words had already left her mouth. If he decided to act on the idea, there wasn't really anything she could do about it... Not that she would, anyway. She saw Anhur as a good aquaintance. Almost a friend, really, despite barely knowing him.

Minty poked her head out from the water and looked up at Ilmare. "Yeah, I'll be fine." Walking on tip-toes, the lion cub managed to make her way to the shore. For the second time that day, Minty shook the moisture out from her fur. I seem to be doing that a lot lately... Looking back at the blue and green lioness and said, "I should probably go back. My sister's gonna send out a search party if I don't get back. Bye!" She turned towards the direction that she came from and ran through the jungle, making more noise than a little lion cub like her ever could.

Esmerelda seemed a little quiet after he was done talking, and he was afraid he'd said something wrong, somehow, someway. Anhur was relieved when she spoke again, and was somewhat glad that it didn't involve his alone time. He thought about what Esmerelda said, looking around him at the beautiful island's many different plants that were primarily green, but with many different shades, and brightly colored flowers that seemed to pop on their backdrop. "Maybe...someday, when I have a reason to claim it. It seems wrong to take this territory for myself and share it with no one. Of course, my friends and family would be welcome, but I bet they'd like to choose where they want to live." He wasn't sure if that last sentence would make sense to Esmerelda. It did to him, but that's because he's the one who said it.
Ilmare smiled at Minty, she was certainly a hardy cub. Well, when you looked at what she had gone through in this short period of time, she had to be hardy or she might not survive. "Alright Minty, take care, and watch where you're going!" The last words were being shouted, as the cub got farther away and was making quite a roucous. Still looking at the direction in which Minty left, she spoke to Anhur. "I'm going to follow her, make sure she doesn't get hurt or anything." It would be relatively easy for her to follow Minty, as her blue-green pelt worked well with the many shades of green from the plants. With that she walked into the planst, making sure she couldn't be seen.

((Sorry about taking so long, VG! Just figured out something to say. sweatdrop ))
Esmerelda chuckled lightly as the pink lion spoke. "You're very considerate, Anhur." She looked about the area, enjoying the dense and beautiful foliage that it had to offer. Clearly, Anhur had to be a thoughtful creature to pass this place up when he had a chance. She hoped that this would pay off for him, and it would still be open for when the time came that he needed a place to call home.
"I wonder what the view is like from up there," she said, nodding at the top of the waterfall.

( That's alright Tek, I didn't notice you'd posted. xD; )
The pink male gave a sort of crooked embarassed smile at what he thought might be a compliment. He was never sure, he didn't get very many. Either way it still embarassed him a little. When she stated that she wondered what the view from the waterfall looked like he couldn't help but look at it again. "Well, why don't we go see?" Anhur asked, his wings opening as he turned to the falls, waiting to see if Esmerelda was thinking the same thing he was.

Esmerelda unfolded her own white wings, the tips of which were dipped in black. "That's an excellent idea. Lets go." Getting to her feet, she started walking forward to gain momentum, eventually speeding up to a run and leaping upwards, becoming airborne. She flew in wide circles around the pink lion, just about two yards above him. She would not continue to go upwards until he joined her, as that seemed a bit rude. "It looks like it will have quite the view, since it's even nice up this high" she said, just a hint of an exicted laugh in her voice. The striped tail behind her flicked a few times against the wind, which seemed to be whipping around rapidly despite her relatively slow speed.

Excellent idea? Hmm, so he did have some after all. Well, they always teased him about having no ideas, or something like that. He smiled when Esmerelda opened her wings and took off, watching her fly in circles. Anhur took a few steps forward before going into a fast walk and leaping into the air, flying in circles with Esmerelda to gain altitude. Along with his mane, his wings were not yet fully developed, making him try harder to fly than an adult. "You're right, it looks great from here." He said, ascending the cliff. After what seemed like minutes to Anhur he finally alighted atop the cliff, his wings a little sore. I should probably fly more. The pink lion thought to himself as he looked at the view. "Oh wow."

Esmerelda hadn't noticed Anhur's difficulty flying, as she had been looking to the ground below as she took some more loops around the place. Flying was one of her absolute favorite activities, after all. "How is it?" she asked as she flew over to the cliff. She hovered in place for a moment before letting her paws touch the ground once more. Folding her wings, Esmerelda slowly turned around to face the edge. The lioness gasped, the beautiful sight of the entire grotto filling her brown-colored eyes. "It's gorgeous," she said, her mouth just slightly open in awe. Even from the altitudes at which she had been flying just a moment ago, she hadn't taken the time to appreciate her surroundings.

Why Esmerelda landed after him Anhur didn't know, she was a much better flier than he. As she flew over he looked at her, wanting to see the expresion on her face when she looked out over the cliff.
"How is it?"
"Beautiful." He replied, unaware of what it was he said. Her gasp made him smile and think. Why shouldn't he take this place as his own? No one said that once he claimed it outsiders were not welcome. Maybe...just maybe. "Wh...what would you say if I went ahead and...claimed this territory as my own? Only, instead of it being for family and friends and myself, have it open to anyone who needs shelter?" Don't forget the possibility of creating a home for his own tribe, someday he hoped.
