"Huh..." Silently, his curiosity grew about the mystery girl Coal seemed to have a crush on, but Lyco said nothing more on the matter. He should have known. Wasibru was probably too headstrong for any male taur on the Cein Isles.
"You can't, can't you?" the zebrataur questioned. "And what made you the expert on caring and pitying all of a sudden? How do you know you can't do both? What if you care for someone out of pity?!"
Oops! There, he'd gone and said it; what he thought of Wasibru's sisterly affections for him. Oh well, it isn't as if Coal cares...
Groaning, Lyco's hand slid down his face, tugging at his features. "Well, she may have been upset, but now I'm upset with her for running off without leaving me a decent trail to follow. What does she think I am? Some great hunter like her...?" He continued to grumble inaudiably until he was shoved backward by the force of Coal thrusting the bow back into his own arms. He cast the soot-taur a look of such utter dispair that his voice nearly broke when he replied.
"But...I don't want to talk..." he mumbled. However he became horribly aware of the fact that he didn't sound the least bit convincing; not even to himself. "Whatever...but I don't know where in the world to start searching for her first, so if you see her efore I do, you'll tell her for me, won't you?" Again, the corners of his mouth twitched. "Friendship...yeah, right..." he sighed heavily once more. "If you say so, Coal," he answered, feeling defeated. "If you say so."
Lycoris stared at the small bow in his hands. He didn't want to do it alone. Really, he didn't. Especially not after seeing the little girl run from him in tears. However, Coal seemed eager to get back to his crush, and Lyco didn't feel like troubling the sooty centaur any more. He flicked his tail and turned with a small wave. "Well...then, good bye."
Unfortunately for Lycoris, he still wasn't aware of the fact that Wasibru was far too big for her crudely-made child bow. This may have been one reason he had failed to recognize her as the flash of flaming orange hair that hurried in the direction of Mirala and the others, giggling girlishly. The female centaurette had been completly olivious to the boys' arguement while she had been picking berries to share with the other girls.

"It's alright Evi," a casual voice purred from the trees. "I'll watch'em." Matteo lay across a limb above the small group, a serene smile gracing his lips, his elegant tail twitching back and forth above them, his cheek resting on his palm. "Besides, I think 'something wicked this way comes'..."
The spotted cattaur child smoothly slid down the trunk of the tree to land before Rey, Kalli, Eron, and Siam. He waved both a hand and a tail in greeting, the bells on his tail jingling loudly. His smile had broadened into a mischevious, cheshire grin. "Hello there, ladies and gents. My name's Matteo. Care to join me on a playdate this fine afternoon?"
((I can't remember, Neri... XD Matteo and Evi met before, yes?))

"..." Coal let out an agrivated sigh. Lyco just looked so pathetic! He moved and grabbed the others arm before he started to head back to where Mira and Evi had been with the kids. He dragged the whiny zebrataur behind him. "stop your moaning. Your such an annoyence, ya know that Lyco? really its amazing anyone could stand being around you, but then again i guess if they get used to you. I mean your worse then Siam, and thats saying somthing. Always in tears, he is. Eron is more like you tho i guess in energy level. Bounces off the walls. You were bouncy when i first met you. scared the s**t outta me to be honest but oh well, didn't hurt. Kalli you gotta watch out for. she's got an attitdue. She's rude to me, Eron and Siam, but thats just her. She doesn't like guys. I wouldn't be surprised if somthing happened when she was little but she hasn't said. don't take anything she says personally. Then there is Rey, a little cattaur Evi and Mira look after. He's hyper, but he's a good kid. And then Evi, she's nice. really motherly. And then Mira..." he paused, smiling softly for a second before it was gone. "She's nice, a few times she's been a bit...i donno, rude i guess, but from what i can tell, it wasn't on purpose." Coal rambled on about the friends he had made. He was tired of fighting with the zebrataur. And he had had an idea. If he could get Lyco around others who he KNEW to be nice...mabye he'd make some friends or lighten up at least!
Siam blinked and moved forward a bit, looking at the other cattaur. "Hello." He said lightly, moving forward a bit. "My name's Siam."
Eron shrunk back. He looked around. "Where's Coal brother?" He asked lightly.
Kalli grabbed Siam and tugged him back. She stoped her hooves a bit nervously and stuck next to Mira.

((Lita, did you ever see that picture I drew of Wasibru & Coal in the stream together, when she was painting his arm? I never finished it, but I wanted to show you.))
"H-hey, what the - " Before Lyco knew what was happeneing, Coal had grabed his arm and begun to lead him away. The zebrataur wasn't quite sure how to react, so he did what he always did in times like this - he let himself be led anyway. His curiosity overcame his desire to leave the dark taur's presence.
"Well, if I'm such an annoyance," Lycoris retorted irritably, "Then why are you taking me with you? Where are we going anyhow?" He tilted his head, trying to glance over Coal's shoulder in hopes of seeing their destination through the green foilege beyond. "No need for insults...hey, now that one was just uncalled for..."
Listening to Coal babble on, Lycoris couldn't help but smile ever so slightly. It seemed that perhaps his peer cared aout him after all. Why else would he complain about Lyco's in such depth while holding him captive? It just didn't make any sense. He listened, though. The technicolored-taur listened intently. It was one thing he had come to be good at, he supposed. He'd always enjoyed stories, and it was interesting to hear aout what Coal had gotten himself into since Lycoris had seen him last.
"They all sound very interesting," Lycoris replied softly with his faint smile. "So...you've found yourself something of a family, huh? That's good...very good..." But of course, to Lyco, it wasn't all good. He wasn't going to mention anything out loud for fear of illiciting the soot-taur's wrath, but he really didn't like the way Coal began to talk about the taur girl called 'Mira'. Something about Coal's tone caused Lycoris to worry. His palms grew sweaty and suddenly he didn't feel like proceding any further into the forest.
"You know, Coal, you would make an excellent victim for Wasibru with the way you both have this gift to chatter on and on. You honestly should have a contest or something with who can talk for the longest. I mean really, it's interesting and all, but I...uh, I gotta' go...I think I forgot something down by the stream..." Lycoris suddenly began to pull away from Coal, struggling to free himself, but he underestimated his rival. Coal had grown far stronger since they last met. He couldn't escape. He didn't want to face any more taur, especially not new ones, not after he had just shed his only disguise; his protection. If he could only find some more soot before they reached...
Placing his fists on his hips, the grey-spotted cattaur child was surly a sight to impress. He continued to grin confidently at his new aquaintances, nodding at each in turn.
"Always a pleasure to meet a fellow cattaur, Siam," Matteo replied with a slight bow at the waist. "And who might your fine friends be?" Of course he had overheard each of their names during his time up in the tree, but Matteo enjoyed teaching the young ones mannerisms, particularly introductions. He was very pleased to discover with pride that his fellow cattaur was of course the first to pick this manner up.
However, the other two were not so swift to catch on. "Coal will be back shortly," he assured Eron, his patience with him today. As Kalli grabbed Siam and pulled him backward though, Matteo inclined his head and frowned at her.
"Well how's that for hello?" he asked sarcastically, pretending to sound insulted. "What's the matter? I don't bite. I'm the laziest, clumsiest cattaur on the Isles!" Matteo assured the young girl with a wink.

((no, i don't think i have))
"Oh don't even try. I've carried around three kids. Their collective weight probubly equals your weigh. I could carry you if i wanted." He said. "relax. Your GONNA meet new taurs and your GONNA make friends. And your not gonna freak out cause somone likes your colors. Got it?" he said, looking at the zebra taur. "Heck, Kalli might even like you. Your both blue. I know Evi will lik eyou. she likes everyone. And Mira's really nice too so...you won't have to worry about her. But trust me, this will help you out. Everyones diffrent Lyco...everyone is a freak in their own regards...Mira is yellow...Kalli is blue, Siam is cream and dark brown, Eron is tan, Rey is blue too....well blueish..." he said. They approched the area the others were in. Coal's ears perked at the voices.
"Ok" Eron said. "I'm Eron. I'm a Cevi!" he said, smiling. Then Eron heard Coal talking. At first he wasn't sure but then he knew it was him. "COAL BROTHER!" he screamed, running, well as best he could, through the clearing and right into Coal, clinging to his leg. He glanced up and spotted Lyco. He blinked before smiling. "Hello! Are you a new big brother?" he asked curiously.
Siam blinked at Kalli, not understanding why she'd pull him back. However he noticed she looked...scared..."Its ok Kalli..." he said lightly, still confused. But more over to why she accually seemed to be worried about him. After all she never acted like she cared about any of them. At Eron's scream and the sound of Coal, he looked over, grinning as he ran over as well. "Coal!!" He looked at Lyco and blinked. "Hello!" he waved.
Kalli backed up more. as the other two ran away she continued to watch Matteo. "Stay away from me..." she said lowly. She turned slowly before thinking better of it and stuck next to Mira. Coal would come over and make the unknown cattaur go away...He wasn't like Siam or Rey...he was diffrent and she didn't like it...

Evi smiled at the pygmy cattaur. "Nice to see you again, Matteo! No other friends with you today?" She asked, referring to Wasibru, Iryl, and so on.
"It's okay Kalli, we know him, he's nice," Mira said, trying to soothe the young centaur.
Laughing, Rey ran from the berry bush and tackled Matteo happily, his hands and face covered with berry juice. "Hi, Matt!"
