She was smiling as he spoke, but she was careful not to think too much on his words, especially given the meaning of the ring. It was precious to her, but not because of the stone or it's age, not even from where it came; she wasn't sure she'd ever really be able to tell him that. Her eyes shifted to his at his last comment, barely able to keep herself from pouting. Goodness, she didn't want a repeat of what had happened just minutes before. "I took you seriously," she teased with an expression stuck between pouting and grinning, "and perhaps I just wanted an excuse to have you close again."

Crystal watched him as he took such care with the clip and her hair, unable to see the glow but hoping it was all he wanted all the same. Her gaze flickered down a little, resting on his sling as he worked. "Thank you," she murmured as he finished, tilting her head back so he could get a better look. A smile lit her gentle face, and it was all she could do to gaze upon him for several heart beats.

Realizing she was staring, she grinned a little, moving by the man to reach for her basket. "The food will get cold if...ah, I suppose I do have a small gift for you." She withdrew a jar of sour candy from the basket, one that she had managed to find in the shape of a bat of all things. "It's...I know you said puckering was bad, but you expressed a love of sour things, and your...your comment the first time we met, stayed with me." Crystal turned a little more red, grinning sheepishly.

Qadir grinned at her 'excuse', wrapping his arm about her in a gentle embrace. "You know you don't need an excuse for something like that," he said with a chuckle before letting her go and returning to the task of unloading the rest of the basket, not noticing for a moment that she was staring at him. His own food had already been set out on the table: a plain looking salad, the previously mentioned chicken and green pepper and onion stir-fry. Qadir only had eyes for the items she'd brought though.

As he reached in to get the last of it, the jar filled with candy, she beat him to it, drawing out the sugar coated delights shaped like little bats. Amber eyes were blinked in confusion for a moment. His comment? What comment had that been?

For a moment the man struggled with trying to remember just what it was miss Crystal was remembering that he couldn't quite gather before he laughed with a shake of his head. "I cannot believe you remembered such a trivial thing my dear. And to think, I'd almost forgotten I'd said it at all! You'll have to fogive me...I have a rather bad habit of forgetting what it is I've said in the past as the past is something I try to let fall to the sands of time." Qadir really did focus on the future, the next minute, the next hour, the next day, where he'd be in a year, where he'd be in a hundred. The past, well, it wasn't something he could change.

Crystal smiled and shrugged it off, apparently not too concerned about it. "It is nothing of consequence," she said simply. Of course, she was a mortal, and all she had was the past; tomorrow, there may not be a future, and she had learned long ago to appreciate what she had. Although he did not remember their first meeting, she did, and she would keep those memories to herself.

Perhaps that was why he was so confused about the jar of spices when they had run into each other at the late festival...he had forgotten her offer for dinner. She smiled a little to herself; really, the man forgot his own birthday. She'd know better than to ask him to remember anything else! Crystal picked up what was left of the ribbon and put it in the basket, glancing over the food she had brought to make sure it hadn't been made into a mess with the jostling from home to here. The chicken still looked a strange and delightful shade of redish brown, offset by a few peppers within the mix; she was grateful the sauce had remained thick, and not run into the off white couscous rice. It was a simple meal, but filling, or so her research had told her.

Her eyes roved over the meal he had prepared, and she felt her smile grow. It was sweet that he had gone overboard, although it made her feel as though she hadn't done enough. Not that she had anything to go by...their first meal together had gone untouched. Now that they were preparing to eat dinner, she supposed she should keep up with the questions, at least to keep him smiling. "Goodness, how did you ever manage to make so much with one hand?" she inquired with good humor, moving to the chairs to take a seat, although waiting to do so until he joined her.

The man was, honestly, pretty happy that she had such a great memory, it meant that he could ask her to recall things that he'd long since forgotten. Granted, it made him feel a bit inferior but it wasn't anything he was going to be a little baby about. You take the good with the bad. His mouth actually watered at the sight of her food, something that was admittedly quite hard to do these days. Noticing her move to sit down he quickly slipped behind her to pull out the chair for her. It certainly looked a challenge with one hand but he didn't let it bother him and as she sat down he'd push the seat right in under her.

He took his seat next to her and greedily took his share of the food she'd brought, perhaps taking a bit more than he should have. You couldn't blame him, he hadn't smelled anything so wonderful in a long time, unwilling as he was to make his own homehand's signature dishes. It just felt weird to him still, to do the things that had been so important to her so long ago. "I'll admit it was a little difficult to cut everything up that needed to be cut up, but I chose things that were relatively easy to prepare without the use of a second hand."

Dinner passed with him answering all her questions, though they seemed so avoiding of anything he thought she'd ask her. Maybe his confession of stupidity when it came to the past had convinced her to not ask him anything she thought he might have trouble with. Sweet of her but unnecessary. He'd readily confess if she asked something he didn't remember or care to talk about. Afterwards was up to her, any suggestion she had was welcomed for after dinner enjoyment.

"That was delicious," she complimented the vampire earnestly, practically gushing. "I haven't had someone make me something...in a long time, and certainly not just because." Crystal smiled with great warmth at Qadir, extending a hand to take his, giving him a fond squeeze. "If you like pastries, I should bake you a cake. Ah, there we are, what flavors do you prefer?" The girl felt awfully silly asking so many random but fun questions, none of which were very personal but all of them did reveal a little more about the man to her.

Her eyes were sparkling a clear grey, lighter than usual with barely visible streaks of blue. She was enjoying herself immensely, completely engrossed with the man at her side, unable to get enough of him. Much like that first night, she wanted only to be near and share the night with Qadir the best she could. Such thoughts sparked another memory, the one that she held most dear from that first evening. "Oh! When your arm is healed, would you honor me with another dance?" Crystal smiled shyly, adding, "Nothing fancy, perhaps a stroll across hardwood floors." She chuckled, inadvertantly inviting him over again. The flower girl would be just as happy to take another midnight jaunt, but so long as he agreed to dance with her again, she would be thrilled.

The man had gone through her food like he hadn't eaten in days, and actually that was just about the truth, though it wasn't like he'd die from not eating. It was more of just a pleasure now and damn had her dish been a pleasure. Sweet memories from the past tickled at his mind and he smiled as he watched her finish. At her question about sweets he shook his head with an uncharacteristic wriggle of his nose, "Pass. I'm afraid I don't like sweets my dear. I look like a dog just fed peanut butter when I get sugary things on my tongue," he said before making a funny expression and attempted to lick his own tongue. Quite a humorous display really. Where was the camera when you needed it?

Her question brought about another nod from him and he gave the dark-haired woman a toothy grin, "I'd love to dance with you as soon as my arm heals. I sadly don't think that will be for another few months, but I certainly don't see either of us going anywhere in that amount of time so I feel confident promising you a raincheck on your dance." After their midnight waltz though, how could he possibly take her dancing in some boring little ballroom? Nah, he'd have to up himself some how, and he was pretty sure he'd come up with the perfect plan. The vampire couldn't help but to smile as he enteretained his ideas.

Crystal couldn't help but laugh at Qadir's words, and more so when he tried to imitate the motion. She tried to cover her mouth with her hand, but her laughter still sparkled in her eyes as she gazed at him. Taking a moment to compose herself as he continued on, she nodded, quite pleased. "I look forward to the dance, but I will truly be happiest that you are healed." Her smile was warm when she finally removed her hand, albeit sleepy; it was late - or perhaps early? - and she did have to work the next day.

Her apology upon leaving was sweet and to the point, thanking Qadir with all her heart for his generosity and kindness. The walk to his door was somewhat sad but still with joy of knowing another night would come, and distinct pleasure that he had enjoyed the meal she brought. At the door, they shared a few more moments - he, kissing her hand sweetly, and she wrapping her arms around him in a gentle embrace and a few more shyly murmured words of thanks. Somehow, they both turned to kiss the other on the cheek, and ended up with a meeting on the lips. Crystal broke it in surprise and, after a sheepish grin, kissed him again, on purpose this time; of course, the vampire hardly seemed to mind, bestowing that large smile that she adored so much.

The young woman said her good bye and left, not thinking that she didn't have a ride, taking the walk home with a dance in her step and stars in her eyes.
