Jedi Of Syrinx Yes... Money he doesnt deserve.. Why, oh WHY has he managed to get a contract? It's stupid. I mean, seriously. Such a spaz. I think you missed the key point of my post. Allow me to reiterate: PRETTYBOYWealth earned by young kids now is usually only ones people want to look at. That's why I'm glad to be in a band where girls stalk and rant about our most of our members. biggrin

Eitherway, I like the band. I think Wentz does his job and nothing more, no flair, no frills.

[.ZaKid.] I think Wentz does his job and nothing more, no flair, no frills. He does his job, people just give him too much credit for it. He hasen't really done anything that no other bassist has.

I dont think Wentz is over rated because I havent heard anyone say "Wentz is a great bassist". He even downplayed himself in Bass Guitar Magazine when he sayed "I dont ever think that Ill be keeping Flea up nights". And quite frankly, hes just a role filler at best.
Where I think he is good is as a front man, hes the leader of FOB and I think hes good at that.
enough FOB
I think the most overrated bass player is Jaco Pastorious............................ had you goin for a sec. Actually I think its Mikey Way

Most overrated bassist? hmm i would have to say john paul jones from Led Zeppelin. hes one of my favorite bassists but his stuff is really easy to play.
yeah of course im a little overrated by people in my town though everyone in my town thinks i can play anything just because i like to play slap bass really fast. all of my friends think i can play everything by primus. i mean i can play just about every metal song out there if i listened to it but im still very crappy at slap i can play it quick but i dont have nearly as much attack as les claypool yeah but hes not overrated his proformance does match his ratings

I agree with the statement about Gene Simmons, although I can't say I've ever heard people declaring him good. Usually, i fyou listen to Kiss, you also listhen to Black Sabbath, and Geezer Butler is definatley a force to be reckoned with.
John Paul Homes may not have the most difficult lines, but his musicianship and inventiveness more than compensate for that.
Alot of people think the same of me when it comes to slap. I can do anything of Flea's (at least that I've heard,) but some of Les's material still gives me a bit of trouble.

Flea... he's solid and does things that most bass players dont... but his s**t's easy...
and he doesn't know what he's doing musically... that's what he said in this video i saw... and that's when I lost respect for him as a musician

He plays more than bass in his solo works, and he is a fairly gifted songwriter. And you have to admit, keeping up with Jimmy Page takes a certain amount of talent, even if the basslines were of the simpler kind. I agree with the most overrated bassist being Gene Simmons. Sure, he was great on stage, but the pyrotechnics usually drowned out the sound of his average playing.

darkside88 How the hell did this topic get this far without any mention of FIELDY?! I have never heard Feildy referred to as a great bassist. I've heard high praise of Head and Munky, and of course Jonathan, but never Feildy. Shogun Drizzt Flea... he's solid and does things that most bass players dont... but his s**t's easy... and he doesn't know what he's doing musically... that's what he said in this video i saw... and that's when I lost respect for him as a musician Definatley. I realized early on, without listening to him talk, that he had almost zero musical knowledge. I beleive it was when I learned "Funky Monks," on the BloodSugarSexMagik album.

ghost_comrade flowergirl01 ghost_comrade brendon smalls(murderface from dethclock) I don't think he's over rated because I've never hurd some one say he was very good. some of my friends talk about all the really good guitarists, bassists.,...yadda yadda, and at the we allways end up talking about him...so...ya... Plus I think that brendon smalls does the voice acting, not the actaul instrumentations, I believe they brought in people from bands like cannable corps, and arch enemy and one other band I don't remember to do the intrumentations, at least after the first two or so episodes.
