So wait, how exactly does the Platinum Angel work? If your opponent is about to bring your life from say, 2 to 0, is the attack automatically stopped, or can you remain at 0 life and keep playing?

no, if you're on 1 life, say and someone casts a lightning bolt at you, then you are on -2 life, except you just don't lose the game.

Archon of Aegis BlackMage92 Any of the Dauthi cards from tempest are always good because they have shadow And thus can't block anything but other things with shadow. I hate that side of the ability, takes all the cool away form shadow for me. That is a draw back but if you use the good side of shadow to your advantage like I do, it's good

alpha impervius no, if you're on 1 life, say and someone casts a lightning bolt at you, then you are on -2 life, except you just don't lose the game. yep, I got a friend down to negative 200 something, but he got the victory after a while cause he had PA in play.

Endangered Armodon.
It's a cheap cost (both in mana and monetary), sturdy creature whose drawback could be simply be remedied (Though Bloodlust could kill it.) It's a no-nonsense beatstick that works for budget decks.

Honorary mentions include:
Her vigilant cousin, the Serra Angel Juzam Djinn Darksteel Colossus Spiritmonger Priest of Titania Ball Lightning, and his cousin Groundbreaker

Slith Strider has become my favorite non-legendary.. while not the most creative or powerful card, is certainly fun to mess with your opponent. wink

mine would have to be Dreanged Hermite from urza's legacy. sure the cost is high but if you think about it you get four 2/2 and a 1/1 for one mana the next two turns.
