An ending of one chapter...

It was a nice summer day in Charlotte, North Carolina. Usually, Rosalind would be on the phone chattering with her friends about how ecstatic they were that they were finally in the same class and was about to be Seniors in High School. But now, she was on the phone still, with her friend, but for a completely different reason. "I hate this, Dina! I can't believe we're going to be leaving today... I won't get to see you for a whole year! And the worst part is... I can't see Grant this year!!!" She whined to her friend, and not bothering to help her parents with the suitcases. Grant was this tall, handsome blond jock at her school with the most gorgeous sparkling blue eyes. He was someone that liked to tease Rosalind about almost everything. But unlike other jocks, he was actually quite smart and got straight 'A's except for a 'B' in math. That was the one subject she always beat him in. The guy knew, so she thought, that she liked him, but hasn't said anything yet. They were better with being only friends, making her let out a huge sigh. Her friend on the other end was actually quiet for once. "C'mon Dina... This is the last time I get to actually talk to you in Charlotte, over cell phone or in person not mattering!" She told her. She wanted her friend to talk back. And so, she did. Very little though. "You'll come visit next summer, right?" She had asked. Rosalind grinned and nodded, even though Dina couldn't see it. "Of course I'll come visit you! What kind of best friend would I be if I didn't!?!" By now, Rosalind was already in the car, her dad driving towards the airport. She was in the backseat, squished between suitcases and the side door. "Well, I have to go now. Have fun in Forks!" Dina told her, but then she snickered as she had said Forks. To her, anything that was named after an object was funny to her. "Thanks a lot Dina... you're such a friend." She sarcastically told her, a small chuckle left her lips and she lightly shook her head. "I know, hon. But seriously, I have to go. Call me when you get to your new hell hole! Bye!" And just before Rosalind could make a remark, she hung up. "Oh.. I will definitely call her back..." She whispered to herself.

The plane with be landing in just a few minutes. Please stay seated and buckled. The flight attendant had said over the intercom which could be heard throughout the plane. Rosalind was sleeping like a little baby and didn't want to wake up. It was until the next day did she arrive at Forks. It took three whole transits just to get here! THREE transits in ONE country! This was going to be the worst last days of summer she will have this year. As the plane landed, and shall I say, it was probably a bumpy ride at the end. The ground wasn't smooth, making the passengers bounce up and down, up and down, giving Rosalind a major headache. But then, when it came to a complete stop and there a Ding! sound, she quickly unbuckled her belt and grabbed her purse, instantly standing and started walking down the aisle so that she can get off of the airplane. The airport was cool, and she looked up at the many signs. She followed the ones that pointed out towards the Baggage Claim. Instantly, she got there and waited for the suitcases to come out. She had three, while both her parents had two each. Somehow, she didn't know, but she got away with having three suitcases. The people at the airport must've been drunk or something to not even notice. Anyways, once her parents were with her, they could spot all of their luggage come out one right after the other. Lucky, eh? Her mom went over to get a cart to put the luggages on. Once all of them were loaded, they walked outside, and the temperature suddenly rose from the cool air conditioned airport out to the warmer and humid place outside. They went to catch a minivan cab, since all of their luggage won't fit in a regular taxi. They were all on the van, not leaving one item alone, and the driver started to head over to their new home.

It was a quiet ride. All Rosalind did was look out the window, looking at her new surroundings that were bound to become familiar in a few weeks, maybe. The path towards their home seemed to be desolate and empty. There were only a few houses and estates here and there. They passed one sort of huge building, which she recognized was a high school. Probably the one that she will have to attend in a few days. Sooner or later, they arrived at their house, a simple, and small house. Two floors and no basement, she guessed. It wasn't that bad, at least not how she actually imagined it. Here favorite place, so far from first glance, was the porch. It was a somewhat quiet place where she would be able to have at least SOME privacy. The cab went to a stop and everyone got out, grabbing their own bags and not caring about the others. That means that it was quite hard for Rosalind, have three bags, one duffel and two rolley ones. Her purse and duffel bag were hung over her right shoulder, the two suitcases one in each hand and she sort of struggled to get to the porch. When she arrived upon there, she let out a sigh. One reason because she finally got to let go of the bags. The other reason because she was actually and permanently moved to Forks, Washington. "This is going to be a long year..." She said to herself as she lightly and gently sat on top of one of her suitcase.

...The beginning of the next

Edward woke up early, at least by his standards. It was about noon when the clouded sky finally saw his face appear at the window. Edward laid a hand on the sill, his black silk pajama pants hanging loosely off of his hips, and considered the things he'd been dreaming about. What was it...? Something about two warring tribes, and a school...? Edward wondered, tapping the windowsill in thought. No... I've lost it, he finally concluded, making a fist and pounding the sill lightly. It had been such a good dream, too. Very interesting - definitely better than last night's, which had something to do with school starting again...

Not that Edward minded school. He'd never exactly had the chance to learn anything while he was growing up, so the opportunity to get an education was one he appreciated. Sometimes it galled him, all the bells and rules and stupid things they said, but most of the time he didn't mind. When he'd been raised educations had belonged exclusively to the rich. Though he was now counted in that number, it still felt... odd, at times. Edward still had, even after all these years, the same basic instincts he'd had when he was growing up - save, conserve and spend lightly! The rest of his family seemed to have grown into their new status a bit better. The silver BMW they'd got him for Christmas a couple years showed that much.

At long last, Edward turned from the window and made his way to the dresser. If he was right, they had a new arrival in town today. Edward was hoping it was a boy, but he didn't know yet. The rest of his family probably didn't care much, but humans had always been a fascination of Edward's - even when he had been one himself. They were so interesting, in their transience and changeability. Edward looked forward to having another in the town. There were so few, here... He much preferred Port Angeles, in truth, but his family was here so this was where he lived. Simple.

Edward pulled open a drawer and contemplated the clothes inside rather sleepily. He still wasn't entirely awake, but he couldn't go back to sleep now. Besides, school was starting soon so he needed to get back on a more normal schedule. Damnable early-morning obligations... he thought grouchily, removing a black jacket, a wifebeater and a pair of tightish black jeans from the dresser with a bit more force than was strictly necessary. He pulled them all on swiftly, gave himself a look in the mirror to make sure it was presentable (just in case), and turned to walk out the door. He grabbed his favourite hat, a black fedora, on the way out, popping it onto his head even as he unlocked his car. Edward was more than capable of walking, of course, but he would probably come out the other end looking a bit disheveled. But then, perhaps I should walk... Edward thought, looking vaguely upwards as he considered this. Driving up, especially in a car like his, would just seem a little too showy for a first meeting. "Don't need whoever it is thinking I'm a p***k off the bat," he muttered to himself, re-locking his car and turning towards the road.

The trip wasn't hard for him, even running as he was. Edward took special care not to step in anything he didn't want on him, and to avoid dusty places. Thus, the run was mostly on grass and mostly clean. When Edward first caught sight of the newly-occupied house, he simply dusted off his pant legs. He would have zipped up his jacket again, had he remembered it, but as it was it remained open and forgotten. Running had been a little warm in this summer weather, even though the heat usually didn't bother Edward at all.

One of the first things he noticed was a person sitting on the front porch. It looked young, and though the long blonde hair hinted at it being female Edward kept hoping. He refused to look too closely, as he knew he could if he tried, for fear that he would be correct in his guess. As he neared, he found he was - it was a girl after all. Ah well... Perhaps we can be friends, at least, he thought, slightly put-out. But a new person was still a new person, and any new person could be interesting. "Hey," Edward said as he neared, stopping several feet from the porch. He smiled wryly, his face taking on a mischievous cast. "Guess you're the new girl, huh?" His accent, even after all this time, held a strong Irish cast in it. Edward tucked his hands into his jacket pockets and cocked his head to the side. "Welcome to Forks. I'm Edward. You?" the vampire asked, still giving her the mischievous look that came so naturally and so unintentionally to his face. He didn't mean anything by it - but then, how was she to know it?

The air was probably really crisp and cool for humans. In Forks, Washington, it was always raining or chilly here. With the breeze of the ocean always pulling in from the Resort La Push, and the clouds always trailing over the mountains with their water... the roads were always slick, the skies always dark. The forests were damp, mossy, and sometimes muddy, but they were everywhere. In that sense, a lot of the animals here went into hiding, to snuggle with their kind in hopes of staying warm with one another's fur. But, even through all of this, I could feel nothing. In a physical sense, I could run my hand along the waters, and dance in the heat as my skin sparkled like a million, beautiful diamonds. But, with my body, my cold, pale figure; I'm like a dead figure that's alive and always thirsty for the blood of the living. It was raining lightly this morning of the human world. Behind me, our house looked like one of those gray nightmares you'd see on TV, especially in the rain. During the day, lights, nothing was used. We didn't really even need lights to live with at night, we Cullens. It was just another one of those necessary things to try and fit in so no one got suspicious. Of course, Edward would probably tell us ahead if someone was with their thoughts.

Like Edward, I too shared an odd ability. Not all vampires were 'born' with something like it. Edward, who could read the thoughts of one if he concentrated on their voice enough. Alice, who could read the undeceiving future. And me; I could calm a room of people, like a stimulant one could say. But, the price of it was much different. For although I calm everyone else around me, it's much more difficult when I can also feel the emotions of others. If Rosalie, with her pigheadedness, felt pure rage toward someone, then I'd feel it. If dear Alice was sad, I would. And of course, Edward; who would get so angry with things it felt like my own head would explode. But, like now, when school was going to start up, I was worried. I would be playing a senior this coming year, in a human school. The worst part was... well, there was a few about that. In a human school, there were so many scents, so many morsels that only called to my instincts. And their emotions; their guilt, betrayal, sadness... for although I wished sometimes for nothing more than to feed off of their bodies, their pleading emotions were too much to bear to even go that far.

Outside of the large, mansion-like house, another wind unfurled itself to the ground. It swept all around; I could hear it all, the trees, the leaves along the pavement. Over in the garage, where every one's cars were parked, there was a small longing to go for a drive. Why not; I could drive forever, as fast as it could go, while the human world swept past me like time stopped. I could go to Alaska, where the snow swept across the land like a frozen ocean. But no; this was the only place I could be right now. The Cullens? My 'adoptive' family... for even though there was no such thing, for even though there never would be such a thing... it was always worth a try, right? The way they lived, off of animals instead of humans, living together with humans in such a calm manor. For although I was the weakest of them all, one who had fed off of human blood in the whole of this damned life, they have given me nothing but relief. Relief, for the sake of my own controlling emotions; relief, for a subtle, simple life. Where you didn't worry about killing your own kind because they were useless and young. Because they were tools of war. Of course, I no longer wished to be a human. Not like Rosalie. No, I was very satisfied being what I was. Not satisfied---content.

With a sigh; breathing, something also not necessary, I moved out of the lot for the garage and went back inside. I was still as quick as ever, an inhuman body with inhuman abilities. It too, was natural. I had to practice that though, because of the upcoming school year. Humans, although dumb and ignorant, still observed. Even if they saw me cross the school parking lot in half a second, they would wonder in some way how it was done. And it would always be there, for one time in the future to remember when doing whatever it is they did. Keeping a low profile, trying to fit in. It's what it was all about. Except for Carlisle. He could withstand the scent of human blood, and actually worked as something in the nearby hospital. The first to ever do so, too.

The inside of our large, human house had it's usual scent of us to it. I ignored it, and took the obvious chance to be alone in the large room that held the television. I refused to turn it on, because television just blabbered on too slowly about what went on with the world. Small, rash things that meant nothing to so many others. On the desk beside the couch, where I brought my legs up and crossed them, there was a puzzle book. I grabbed it quickly, opened it near the end, and started, with a bored mind, to finish the equations and what not. Humans took forever to do these; me? Only a few seconds. But they were still enjoyable. I couldn't even count how many I had done in the last week. But the books were only a dollar at the small markets about the area; when the Cullens had so much money, what was a few dollar puzzle books each week to a fortune.

Smiling slyly at that one, I sat there for the remainder of whatever lost time enveloped me, in a world so crossed to death, but so alive.

The skies were gray and the surroundings seemed so gloomy. Just to add more to it, the sky started to pour down rain. Plop, plop. Plop! Was all that Rosalind heard as she continued sitting on her suitcase. Even under the porch, her body was lightly getting wetter and wetter, the rain making puddles, and the skies' tears dropping into them. Smaller water drops gently splashed against her shins and ankles, trailing down them towards her feet and making her flip flops wet. She slowly got up, not wanting to make her other suitcase fall down and onto the wet ground. She grabbed her suitcases and wrapped her duffel bag around her shoulder, about to go inside and get some shelter.

Then, all of a sudden, someone spoke up, surprising her and she jumped, along with a small, yet high, yelp. Which, by the way, made her let go of one of the suitcases and it dropped down, like what she deeply not wanted to happen. Now she has to go out in the rain and retrieve her muddy suitcase. Walking down the few steps, she quickly grabbed it and quickly went back under the protection of the porch. Her silky blond hair was now drenched from the rain. She turned around, looking at the male who had spoken. He went by the name of Edward and was welcoming her to Forks. For the first day, she didn't feel like it was such a warm welcoming because of what had just happened. But it literally wasn't warm. The weather was freezing right now in this new place, possibly because they were in the North, and with only light clothing protecting her. Maybe the reason that in Charlotte, the weather was scorching hot and was the complete opposite of this place. They were complete opposites, and she knew it. And one of the reasons is standing right in front of her house. Edward's complexion was absolutely breath taking. His skin was pale and his eyes had a golden glow to it. It was quite stunning when she had first laid eyes on him.

Now, Rosalind realized that he had asked a question before, while introducing himself. "Oh, I'm sorry. My name's Rosalind Harris. But call me Rosy." She replied with a sweet, yet nervous, smile. She looked like a star struck fan by the way she was gazing at him. Noticing, she snapped back. She had also noticed that Edward was still standing in the rain. I should probably invite him in... No point in getting someone you just met to get a cold.. She thought to herself, and so she asked out loud, "Would you like to come in...? It must be freezing out in the cold." She offered, along with pointing out the obvious. Apparently, she had no idea what his actual secret was, and probably won't for quite a while.

It had been raining for a while, and Edward was quite soaked - not cold, really, but wet. Fortunately, nothing he was wearing wouldn't dry itself out, and his hat had protected his face and head. All in all, it could have been worse, even if the wet jeans did chafe a bit. Besides, the rain protected him from the sun. Not that it would hurt him, but more that it made him stand out because of his skin. Edward often wondered exactly why his skin shone in the light as it did. It was pretty, but it made him look like he was wearing body glitter. A reputation as a fairy wasn't one he really needed to foster.

Edward laughed a little bit at Rosy's surprised yelp, but was gentlemanly enough to move forward to grab the fallen suitcase. Both he and Rosy's hands touched it at the same time, but Edward let her have it with a smile. Alright, you can have it! he thought, letting out a small chuckle. Humans... They could be so entertaining! Certainly, they were very easily surprised... And very easily enraptured, Edward added with a tick of irritation. He was hardly unaccustomed to female attention, but he did so wish they would stare all the time. Well, what can I expect? The thought sounded resigned even in his own head.

"Pleased to meet you, Rosy," Edward replied, removing a hand to tip his hat to her. An old greeting, but definitely the vampire's favourite. Clean, simple and rather fun to do, especially now that no one else did it. When Rosy invited him in, Edward's grin widened. "Thankee, I'd appreciate it. Dry off, if I can, you know?" he replied, stepping up the porch steps to stand under the awning. It certainly was nice to be out of the rain. He took a couple of steps away from her and removed his hat, giving it a good shake to get the water off. "That's a bit better," he murmured to himself before replacing the article and turning back to Rosy. "It's too bad you didn't come yesterday - it was a much nicer day. Better 'n all this, at any rate," Edward said, looking skywards. He did like the rain, but he usually found it nicer when it was dry. Rain was nice from time to time, but sometimes he felt like they had too much of it here. Too much rain, and not enough lightning...
PostPosted: Fri Aug 24, 2007 6:36 pm

"Uhm.. Yea, you can go dry off." Rosalind said quietly as she looked towards the door for a second or two and then back at Edward. Just given a few more minutes, she would be a completely different person, or so it would seem. It's only because Rosalind doesn't really get used to new people during first meetings, so it takes a few minutes to feel more comfortable. Not even an hour, only a few minutes. Her eyes gazed off towards the rain and then quickly back towards Edward. Hmm.. so it IS sunny here..? Doesn't seem like it... Apparently, she goes by first impressions, and the weather's impression towards her for the time being didn't seem too good, pouring down rain as she had just arrived in the new town.

After a few moments in silence, only accompanied by the sounds of the splashing rain drops, she then had noticed that it didn't take Edward quite long to get to her house when she had just arrived only several minutes before. She had started to get a tad bit suspicious, and now... her shyness towards him was gone and was out with her actual self. "I just have one question.." Rosalind said as she started the "conversation". Or at least she hopes. She started to grab her bags, getting ready to go in and settle after she asks her question. "How did you get here so fast..? It's only because I didn't really see any houses that were so close as in a walking distance for you to arrive here that early... And anyways, we had just arrived a few minutes before." She explained her, somewhat odd question with a few reasons thrown here and there. "You can come in." She said then, right after she asked her question and started upstairs, still awaiting for Edward to reply.

The few moments between, her head started to begin growing with more and more questions. Am I going to be going to the same high school as his? ... Where does he live? ... Am I going to be able to even make any new friends!?! ... I hate that I had to move... Thoughts keep coming towards her over and over, then she suddenly settled. I'll just bombard him with those, probably annoying, questions. I hope he doesn't, or won't hate me for that. She kept thinking and thinking. But then her final thought should have caught him. It's a good thing humans can't read minds... Or that would be very awkward...

There was something ahead of him, something that he very much wanted but really couldn't have. What was it again? What dream was this? He stepped on crushed leaves and went onwards, phantom hands still outstretched as he stumbled blindly along the dirty path. And then he saw blood, just a few drops, but what was happening? The sky...the blood was coming from the sky? It drizzled on him lightly, touched a vein or snaked beneath his clothing. It dawned on him suddenly; his arm was rather too pale and he was drinking the blood that fell from the sky.

"Oh s**t!"

Alexander sat upright with a jolt, banging his awkward limbs on the corner of his desk. He hadn't paid the electric bills yet! Scrambling off the tiny bed (he kept telling himself he'd buy a new one, but that somehow never got around to happening), the teenager hurried through the process of putting on a pair of faded jeans and an out-dated T-shirt. "Oh no...oh no, the bills. The bills!" He murmured to his reflection in the mirror even as he whipped out a toothbrush and began to brush quite furiously. He took three seconds to spit, rinse, and was out of his room in a matter of minutes.

"'Morning boy. You slept in today, now how about helpi--" His father (James Levine Wilde III) barely had time to call out before being rudely shunted aside as his son thrust open the door and stalked outside.

"Wait! You haven't even had breakfast yet! And it's raining!"

"Later, pops. I've got bills to pay and people to talk to. I'll be back sometime later. I'm sorry."

With that, the door was slammed shut, the hinges rattling even as James stared at the wood with a completely bewildered expression on his face. And indeed, this was far from normal in their routine as father and son. They usually talked over a nice breakfast, joking about this or that, and always talking about Alexander's bright future. Top of the class! Imagine that.

But said boy wasn't thinking much about his bright future or being top of the class. He was more concerned about the overdue bills he had stuffed in his jeans pocket and how much would be owed as penalty. Alex wasn't a person to forget things, but somehow he had completely overlooked the electric bill that had been sent in a little over two weeks ago. He slung his long legs over his outdated bicycle (rusted and slightly scratched from years of wear, but at least it worked) and set off for the post office.

He hadn't gone too far, maybe almost a mile when he saw a very odd sight for this time of day. Edward Cullen. Resident Mr. Mysterious at school with girls fawning every second over him. The guy with pale skin and a cool attitude. Alexander was so stunned that he stopped pedaling, just stood there supporting his method of transportation with a bewildered look in his eyes.

Oh, wait. There was a girl too, standing next to him and they were having what appeared to be a rather one-sided conversation. Figured.

"Hey guys! You new here?" Not exactly the best way to greet a newcomer, but at least he was trying. He didn't expect Edward to really respond; they never talked to each other at school. It was kind of odd, really. There was something slightly intimidating in the other boy's demeanor, but that wasn't what he was concerned with at this point.

Wow, a new kid.

An easy smile crossed his face, the type that instantly showed someone that he was laid back and pretty damn carefree.

"I'm Alexander and I live somewhere back there." He waved behind him in a somewhat vague direction and laughed. "What's your name?"

He didn't plan to stay very long, hang around for five minutes and then fix up the payments (the rain was making him tired and he didn't like the wet feeling it gave him). But it was still polite to welcome a complete stranger to his hometown. Then an odd thought crossed his mind, something slightly troubling and not at all tied in to the situation.

But I've never greeted the Cullens before....

"Thank you," Edward said smoothly, smiling. He looked left and right, wondering if there was a towel handy anywhere. The vampire was a mite irritated when nothing presented itself, but oh well. He shrugged off his jacket and hung it over the back of one of the porch chairs, knowing that while that wouldn't dry it, it meant his skin might. Unintentionally, the soaked wifebeater showed off his upper body quite nicely. The rain had made the item rather skin tight and see-through, but there was nothing Edward could do about that. And it was nice to get that jacket off.

"Just one?" Edward joked wryly, now trying to wring out the bottom of his wifebeater. He listened, though, to her concerns, and then to her invitation. "Thanks," he said first off, following Rosy up the stairs. "And it wasn't intentional - I actually didn't know exactly when you'd be arriving. I thought I would walk by, see if anyone was in, and if not go into town and take a look again on my way home," Edward explained with a casual grace and a graceful shrug.

It was then that he noticed Rosy's thoughts. Normally he would have to focus at least a little bit, but her mind was racing so much that they pushed themselves into his head regardless. Edward almost laughed at some of the things she was thinking, especially the "new friends" one and at the worry that he would hate her for bombarding him with these questions. She didn't know she already had! Can't answer them now, though. That would just scare her away, Edward thought, though he was still smirking over her thoughts. He might have said more then, but for the sudden call of "Hey guys!"

Edward turned his upper body around to look at the source of the noise - a human boy named Alexander. They went to the same school, so it figured that he would recognise the other. Edward had given him the title of "the one with pretty eyes" in his head, but had never found occasion to share it. For now, though, he simply smiled the same mischievous smile that seemed to suit his face so well. "Hey Alexander," Edward called back, tipping his hat to the other boy by way of greeting. There was no use in being uncivil, at least not at the moment. Besides, perhaps Alexander would prove entertaining; they'd never spoken, so Edward had no real idea of what he was like. The easy smile hinted at a laid-back nature, but the vampire had long since learned not to trust books by their covers. Still, who knew? As Alexander was addressing Rosy, though, Edward took a step to the side.

Let them speak. I have all the time in the world... he thought, listening to their conversation with half an ear.

Another puzzle book fell to the table as Jasper threw it lightly. If he threw it harder, it would've probably ripped and fell apart. He smiled thinly across his lips at that one; yes, another good thing about being a Vampire. The strength, the keen eyesight, the senses, such Instinct. Through so many years of fighting, of war... Jasper had really learned a lot. Tactics, abilities, ways... to use such strength against vampires and mankind alike. Down along his arm, white, freezing cold scars trailed down his arms. With a quick, briskly finger, Jasper lead it down on arm before pulling up the sleeve. He looked a bit grim for a moment; yes, although he knew such things, such scars were the price. They didn't hurt, though; Vampire venom merely left a mark; a cold, crescent mark. Without another thoguth or movement, Jasper got up from the couch while swiping up his finished puzzle books. He went outside wuickly without any effort, throwing the books effortlessly into the large trashcan near the garage.

Again, he longed to go for a drive. Maybe he should? Would anyone get mad if he took one of their cars? Probably. If Carlisle were here, I'd be able to take his. Carlisle was always out and about at the hospital, probably one of the most oncall doctors there. Well, vampirs never slept, they could get somewhere much quicker than humans; so why not? Jasper sighed quickly at that one. he still didn't understand Carlisle; how a vampire, of all things in the world, was working as a doctor. Of course, carlisle did it because he liked saving human lives. But the tainted smell of their blood, everywhere... he didn't understand how he did it. Jasper wouldn't be able to take it; so much of it would drive his sense mad that he'd have to go against his ways and feed out of thirst. Standing there, in the cold outside once again, he shivered at the thought. No. I'm not weak. I can prove it, too. Everyone knew Jasper was the weakest when it came to him being thirsty. But what can they expect; a vampire, who lived almost a hundred years feeding off of their most powerful feeding source. And then bound to be a vegetarian, as they said.

He liked this way of life. he enjoyed not having to kill humans, to have their flow of fear and horror when he was about to kill them. But, he also couldn't help the thirst for it all again, to be able to feed on them all once more. Sometimes hunger got the better of him; but, he could always hide it back, somehow...

The forest around the house was to much of a calling. Jasper gave up on his thoughts for a moment, to enjoy what he did; the forest, the outdoors. He always thought, as he made his way through the green undergrowth, that someday again he would be able to feel the brush of cold weather that humans always did. But no, it never happened; even now, as he entered the forest and stepped over roots and through muddy areas, there was no feeling. There never would be. Jasper shoved his hands in his pockets, as he gracefully, too easily made his way over the rough terrain. He could run; the thought crossed his mind with pleasure. How he enjoyed running, too; to feel the wind through your air, push against your hard, cold body. It was very nice. Although, Jasper would probably get too into it, and run off to Alaska. I don't think my family would like that... he added to his thoughts with a smile. Yes, his family. Sometimes, it was hard to believe. That he could even have such a thing in this damned life.

But Esme, so loving... Carlisle... Rosalie, even with her pigheadness... the oh-so-joyful Alice... all of them. It was nice here. Jasper sighed again, trying to take in some whiff of fresh, morning air; when, all the sudden, came along the scent of a tasetful badger and it's family...

As Edward had taken off his jacket, his shirt was soaking wet from the rain, and it had turned see through, sticking to his body, like the shirt was trying to show off his body. At the sight of that, Rosalind was ever so breathless, sort of like he had taken her breath away, or something along those lines. She seemed like she was in a trance, staring at Edward and his ever so muscular body. To just top it all off, his appearance and complexion made him almost irresistible. Oh my gosh... I think I'm about to faint, looking at him... Just thinking about that, she wondered how he would have even survived High School, with all of those girls that probably are obsessed. Thinking about that, and the whole scene, only made her giggle. It was a soft, innocent one, barely audible. By now, Edward was answering her one, sort of simple, question about how he had arrived so quickly to her new house. As he was talking, Rosalind listened, but still even thinking of more questions and thoughts going straight out of the blue into her head. By what he had said, it seemed as if he seriously was expecting someone new in this town. Maybe news had spread? This place wasn't so big, so it wouldn't be much of a problem for one little piece of news to spread quickly.

Just then and there, there was yet another male voice calling out. Rosalind went all the way back downstairs, peering out the open doorway to the male. He was kind of tall, really, and by his appearance, to her at least, he seemed like one of those handsome, smart guys. Once again, someone new, she turns back to her shy self. The newcomer had introduced himself as Alexander, and she also heard Edward confront him, so they probably knew each other. They had probably went to school together. She thought to herself. So... his name was Alexander, and he was wondering about her name. Rosalind just simply replied with, "Call me Rosy." Awaiting for his reply, she wondered if he was in the same grade as her. Actually, she wondered if all three of them were in the same grade. It would be pretty awesome if they were, but not everything could be told from first impressions, although that's what she usually relies on.

He knows my name?

That was a slightly unsettling thought. Mr. Popular actually knew his name, queer. Alexander didn't expect Edward to care enough or to really have the time to memorize useless names; the pale teen was usually found gazing out windows most of the time anyways. Well, whatever. It wasn't like anything would come out of it even though Alex would have to admit, the other was rather attractive (but only in that dangerous kind of way, a predator, yes).

He smiled with a dimple, eyes crinkling at the corners with mirth. "Hey Rosy. Nice to meet you. I see you've already met Edward; we all go to the same school but I've never gotten the chance to really talk with him. I'm sixteen, one year younger and so I don't have the same classes as him. Speaking of which, how old are you? It'd be cool if you were in my grade; I could show you around." Alexander was a bit sheepish about his forwardness, reaching a hand to awkwardly scratch at the back of his head, a blush stealing across his features. "Not that Edward couldn't. He probably knows more than I do at any rate, but we're all nice people. We don't bite, seriously."

Right, about those bills I haven't paid...Should I stay and talk or should I just leave and come off rude? Dad's still waiting for me to finish up breakfast and I was really mean to him.

His brows furrowed, an almost pensive expression lingering on his face as he thoughtfully gazed at first Rose then Edward. Well, it wouldn't hurt to stay just a little bit longer, right? Besides, he could learn a bit more about Edward and Rose too. It was always nice to start off a school day with a couple more friends.

Sometimes, Edward wished he couldn't read thoughts. What Rosy was thinking about him at the moment was a little unsettling. He'd never liked it much when girls thought about him sexually, especially because of the mental images they usually added to their fantasies. Thankfully, Rosy hadn't yet, and Edward hoped to hell that she wouldn't. It feels so unnatural, even seeing myself like that in no more than their minds, Edward thought testily, suddenly wishing he'd left his jacket on. But as he'd taken it off to let it dry it would look a little odd if he put the article back on. I hope it dries quickly, the vampire thought sourly.

Rosy wasn't being too talkative with the other boy, but Alexander seemed more than willing to talk enough for the both of them. Edward had, of course, accompanied his hostess back downstairs - a matter of politeness. The way Alexander spoke as though he weren't there, though... "I'm right here, you know," Edward said, his voice both joking and testy at the same time. The comment was more an adendum than anything else, but Edward didn't like it when people spoke over him as though he didn't exist. Even if Alexander didn't seem to mean it in an unkind way, it galled him. Besides, he was still feeling a little irritable over Rosy's thoughts, so he already had the setup there.

At Alexander's last comment, Edward had to bite back a laugh. And it's lucky for you we don't! the vampire thought, his mental self practically in tears. Why the comment struck him as so funny now, he didn't know, but it certainly tickled his funny bone. "He's right," Edward said out loud - though his voice seemed much more jovial than it had so recently, "it really is a friendly town. I'm sure you'll get along fine." Edward was quite curious to hear Rosy's answers to Alexander's questions as well. He wondered if they would be in the same grade. That could be fun, I suppose, the soggy boy thought, tucking one hand into his jeans pocket. It could....

Oh, real smooth. So much for being friends. Leave now while you've still got some dignity intact man.

But he wouldn't run. Alex wasn't a coward and he wasn't the type to be easily intimidated. Yes, perhaps he had touched a nerve with Edward by talking about him as if he didn't exist, but it wasn't as if he had done that deliberately. It was his habit. To be honest, the teenager wasn't resentful or angry (for that matter) at the pale senior for his clipped comment, just merely curious as to why Edward took it so personally. He shrugged, as if to say that he hadn't meant it and that his comments weren't to be taken seriously at all.

"I'm sorry for leaving you out. I guess I just got carried away at seeing a new person here. I mean, most people in this town are the third or fourth generations of their family to live here." He flashed an awkward (though it probably seemed more kind and cheerful) smile at the other and laughed lightly before turning back to Rose, as if worrying that she'd be affronted at being left out of a conversation.

"So yeah, at any rate...Edward's right. We're pretty cool people."

Anyone else feel a little bit out of place here? I feel like I'm just repeating myself over and over again.

Running a tanned hand through his semi-wet hair, Alexander fought the urge to lie down and sleep. It was raining, and whenever it rained, he always felt like curling up and sleeping. Which sucked, given the fact that it rained quite a bit in this part of the country. Tough luck, he told himself silently. Tough luck.

{ >< sorry for not posting for a long time }

"Thanks, both of you." She said to them both, smiling. Rosalind loved meeting new people and getting more friends. It just made her feel.. loved, in a way, and not lonely at all. "I'm seventeen." She answered, quite late to Alex's question. Her bottom lip slightly stuck out, and her eyebrows dropped down to the sides a little, making the most perfect pout face. It was only because she had just met Alex, but she won't get to talk to him much often because they weren't in the same grade. But on the bright side, Edward could still keep her company, right? After a little while, her composure came back and she then looked up at the gray skies. They were still dark, though it was early in the morning, as small beams of sunlight peeked through the holes of the clouds. The rain still poured a little, and not as hard as it had been before. Being a nice neighbor, in a way, she wanted to invite them in, and out of the rain, though Edward had already been invited. Ahh~ too confusing, that she'll just come out and ask without thinking. "Alex, do you wanna come in from the rain? It would suck if you had gotten sick before school even started." She said with a slight giggle. Well, it wouldn't really be that bad, missing the first few days of school.

As she awaited for a reply, Rosalind rocked back and forth on her heels and toes. She wondered what the people there would be like, and if they would accept someone new to the place. If she had already met two great people, the others shouldn't be bad, right? Or at least she hoped. 'Hmm... I wonder if there are more guys that look like them...' She thought to herself as she looked at both Edward and Alex with a grin. They were quite good looking, and she just couldn't wait to meet everybody else. 'C'mon Rosy... you just got here! Don't think about that until after the first day!' She did have a small voice in her head to keep her sane, though she sometimes defies it and just does what she wants. The rain still came down in small drops, making a soft pitter-patter noise on the roof. Weird, but it seemed calming to her.

{Just try to be around more in the future 3nodding }

Edward smiled at Alex; an almost perfect smile. It was genuine, but with that edge of darkness and mischief that made it so interesting. It certainly seemed to suit Edward, at any rate. And maybe, just maybe, it was a little bit flirty at well. But that was up in the air. "Don't worry about it. I amn't bothered. 'Sides, I know what you mean," the vampire said, using the Irish contraction of "am not". What could he say? Old habits died hard.

Seventeen, hmm? Edward thought. He had been 17 once, and even though it had been 270 years ago he still looked it. That also meant that they would be in the same class - well, maybe anyway. "Are you going to be going into your junior year, or your senior?" Ed asked after Rosy invited Alex in, smoothly arching an eyebrow as he did so. He knew Alex to be a grade behind him in school, and he wondered if Rosy would be with himself or with Alex. It didn't matter much to Ed either way, but it might be fun, right?

"Need any help carrying boxes anyplace?" Edward asked, stretching as he did. So long as he was here he might as well be useful, and he was very, very strong for his size. Boxes would be easy, even the heavy ones. It'd be a right nice way to welcome someone, at any rate, the good-looking "teenager" thought, looking around. They probably had a lot of stuff, though there wasn't that much where they were standing at the moment.
