Naina looked at her mother, an eyebrow raised. She had never truly known her father to go too far, but as her mothers surprise look of shock, she figured there was something she didnt know.
"You act as if he used to?" She said, more of a question.
She kept her gaze at her feet as she walked, still unaware of the life her family had. It was only herself.
"No, I dont live with him, as he couldnt get the image out of his head as he looked at me. I was too much like someone from his past.. He wanted me to be a little him, but my heart wasnt there. I left him, in his mountain, while I traveled.."
She never knew where she got her wandering bug, maybe this was it?

Nostalgia shook her head. Her second daughter clearly was unaware of a whole different side of her father that others saw. But it was not her place to speak of him.... he was to tell her what he wanted to tell her and that was his business. She would not allow herself to speak ill of her father in the presence of their child.
"Yes, he was a wanderer of sorts, much like I still am. That's how we met, both aimlessly wandering until we came across one another. It was not to be, though I think we both would have liked it to be so, I imagine. Just... too different, I am afraid."
A sorrowful expression was cast across her face, but she quickly hid it, not wanting Naina to see. It was her burden to bear, and no one elses.
Quickly changing the subject, she asked, "And what of you, dear Naina? Have you found someone to be your companion in life yet? Though you are still young; I imagine you're still acquainting yourself to the world, yes?"

She sighed, looking at her mother. She hadnt met many, and the ones she had met, had tended to find her strange and 'deformed.' She wasnt like the others, with their happiness of life and their never ending plight to find their true selves. She was the kind to sit and wait it all out. Find what was going on, and then, pursue. But she liked being alone. Liked being by herself. Because no one could hurt you by yourself but you.
"I do have one friend. His name, is Amaroq. And he's quite the charmer. He and I, are, as you could say, seeing each other right now.. But other than him, Im afraid I dont mesh well with others."
She said, blinking and looking to her mother again, keeping her amethyst orbs that she no doubt inherited from her mothers genes, to gaze at themselves in her mothers eyes.
"But you, what is on your plans for the lovely night?"

It saddened her, to hear her own offspring talk of herself in such a way.
"You are not odd, dear Naina," she said quietly, unable to believe what her ears were hearing, "And I do not see how you could think you would not get along with others. It is far to cruel, especially with a beauty such as yourself, to think poorly of yourself. Life is a very precious thing that should not be taken for granted. It is too short to live in the shadows as an onlooker, not when you should be out in the open, being a part of the scene."
Her frown turned to a smile, though, when she heard the happiness in her daughter's voice. "I am happy to hear that you have found a companion, Naina. It is a Mother's worry that her children will not find happiness, but I urge you to look past the charm and into the stallion himself. Charm... can be quite the temptation, as I know from experience myself with your father. Already I see part of myself in you; a romantic at heart, so be careful, my darling."
Her lion-like tail twitched from one side to the other, as the young mare questioned her.
"I have no plans for this evening, like so many evenings before. But of you... am I keeping you apart from your own plans?"

Those were the words she had needed to hear so ong ago. Her father never said them.. But he was a bitter soul. To her, only was he bitter. Strangers, he was teh same romancer self shed assumed he'd always been.
She blushed a bit, but it caused her to smile.
"Thank you. But I take after you in most ways. Especially the way of the features. He has alot of persuading to do before anything really happens, mother." She said, smiling and mentioning Amaroq.
"Father is a charmer, to others. Im afraid I dont see what all the charm is about. For he was never like that to me. He was always very spiteful with me. And Im assuming, if the relationship was as bad as you say.. it might be because I remind him so much of you.."
Her eyes widened. Shed FINALLY figured out why her father was so anxious to change her and her ways. Iit clicked, and she suddenly felt terribly bad for her father.
"No,no nono. I dont have plans. I tend to roam, myself. I was only out for a stroll, though I must say, Im quite happy to have the company of my mother with me for tonight."

She smiled, nodding her head. "And I am joyed to be in the presence of my youngest daughter."
Nostalgia attempted to keep a straight face as Naina spoke of Jean-Claude, though her heart grew bitter as she learned more of the treatment he used towards her.
"It was unfair for you, to be blessed with my looks," she finally responded after moments of silence, "if they were to be the reason your father turned against you so. No, the relationship was brief and hard on the both of us, but I do not hold it falling apart against him, but myself instead. I was not ready for such a commitment, as I do not think he was as well. It hurt me to hurt him so, but the ending was inevitable for the both of us. I just hope he finds happiness, as I hope the same for you, daughter."

"The thing that hurt me most, was looking like a mother Id never seen. But now that Ive seen, and spoken to you.. The looks of myself have made me feel wonderful. As its a reminder that I am related to such a beautiful and kind mare. If I had looked like father, he might have been worse. Because he would have a mare who looked like him, but spoke with your tongue, and it would kill him."
She smiled, imagining the lunatic her father might ahve become. Not because it was funny, but because she saw it as almost a cartoon, or joke. It would never happen, so it was just.. amusing.
"I know that when you first met me.. So long ago as a filly. You were thrown off, and probably despised whom I was.. But I hope now.. I hope that somewhere. You can be proud of me. As you are with my amazing siblings."
She said, with a smile. One wish. That was about the extent of that comment. She had one wish.

"Such insecurities!" Nostalgia murmured, her braids gently swinging as she shook her head. "Of course I am proud of you, you are my daughter, are you not? Yes, you are right in the fact I was startled by seeing you as a foal, but I never despised you. On what grounds would I have to hate such an adorable foal? I think, aside from seeing you, what threw me off was the garment you were wearing. It was the first time to see a cloathed foal, so you have to understand that much!"
She laughed, remembering little Naina running up to their group for the first time, surprise in her eyes as Memory darted to hide behind her mother's dress. Little Trev was such a little protector, though he didn't quite understand who Naina was at the time.

She smiled, giving a snort of laughter at herself. Yes, she had some insecurities. Which was one way she was so much different from her father.
"I had been a firecracker. Thats for sure. That was when daddy was trying to teach me to be like him, and I was actually trying."
She remembered that day. The fight Trev had given, and how she had threatened his limbs if he touched her daddy. She remembered how Memory had hidden away, keeping herself protected. And she remembered the mare she had first heard of as mother, pulling on her mane and brushing it aside with love.
Yes. She remembered every detail.
"That dress" She said smiling, "Was my two-leggers attempt at making daddy happy. She thought he missed the dressed mare, and helped me as such. Its almost like irony."
She gave another snort of laughter, and nuzzled her mother gently.

She nuzzled the mare back, her heart wrenching. She had just met her, but she knew what her future held in store for her... and those plans did not include Naina. Nor did they include Memory, Trev, or her dear companion Draven.
"It was a very fitting dress for a little copy of myself," Nostalgia commented, amused at the memory. "But, Naina, you have always been loved, even though we have not truly spoken until now. And I know, deep in my heart, that your father loves you as well. He's just... unable to express it, I believe, especially due to your appearance. Just because you haven't grown to be what he expects you to be, that doesn't neccessarily mean he loves you any less. We may not always approve of the choices our children make, but parents will always love their children, in their own way."
She hesitated and paused. She didn't know how, but she knew it. It was time.
Giving her second child another nuzzle of affection, she bowed her head.
"I am sorry, Naina, but something has come up and I must go. I'm sorry our talk was brief, but I very much enjoyed it; it meant the world to me. Please remember how special you are, and never forget it."
She gently raised the foal's head up, using her own muzzle. "You are my daughter, and though you don't realize how blessed you are, you will in time. Never forget, and as well in time you will learn to forgive him for how he is. Time heals many wounds."
One last smile, and she was off. There was one last stallion she needed to see before she left, and she didn't have much time to find him.
