Closer and closer he crept. Oh, Kweu felt like a sly, secret warrior of the night or some untracable, unstoppable fiend! This was certainly an adventure and quite the game: Get as close to mom and her mysterious male before being spotted and-
Kweu froze in mid step as his body lowered closer to the grass as his own vibrant, cerulean orbs narrowed towards the male. Well- so much for not being spotted. This male was tricky! It was almost like he knew that they were there the whole time but didn't say a word or suddenly lunge after them. His fur seemed to bristle a bit yet uncertainty still tugged at him in every which way. His stare seemed to cause his maw to haphazardly gape open. But quickly, 'Chaka straightened his posture and puffed out his chest as he rose slightly upwards and tried to size up the male- it was a good attempt but even 'Chaku knew he wasn't any match for the lumbering male who was cuddling with his mom.
But it still was worth a shot.
Or at least it was until their mother seemed to sit up.
"Ayato....."he whispered as he ducked lower to the ground trying to hide himself from Tai's view. "I think mom saw us. We can either run away and pretend we weren't looking at them or act like we were just playing, greet and be on our way."
The last thing he wanted to do was upset his mother and it seemed that the two were already suspicious of both Kweu and Ayato.
"What do you think?"

"Kweu! Ayato! What are you two doing lurking out there in the grass?" Eavesdropping? She frowned, sitting up straight and giving the two a stern eye (Ayato cringed, she saw). She'd have none of this running off, so if they didn't stay to handle it now, they'd just deal with it later.
She sighed, exhaling and shaking her head, but turned her attention back to Matifu.
"I'm sorry, but I think it would be best if we said goodnight... it is rather late."

Ayato cringed.
"I think... we're busted." He admitted in defeat, standing up but keeping his head low, his ears flat to his head. You'd think they were still cubs rather than adults by the way he stood. Their mission was accomplished, however, when the male rose to his paws as well with a soft rumble, nudging Tai (Ayato caught, from the corner of his eyes) once and bidding her good night.

Matifu, too, sighed as their moment was cut to an end all too abruptly. Looking to his old friend, he nuzzled her briefly, not quite ready to go yet--
"Thank you for an unforgettable evening, Tai, it was good to see you again."
One more glance cast to the boys, and then the male moved to amble off, mulling over his thoughts. Perhaps he'd have to come back through here sometime and see how she was doing...

Likewise, Kweu cringed as well but tried to regain himself. He sheepishly chuckled. "Running around the Pridelands and looking at the stars-" he suddenly looked upwards and let a mystical expression take hold of his maw as he 'oooooh'ed and 'awwwwed'. "It's a beautiful night isn't it, Ayato? We couldn't sleep so we decided to take a stroll to the waterhole."
He sunk lower into the grass. Kweu'Chaka knew he was defeated and that bitter taste didn't settle well with him. Creamy, yellow ears fell against his skull as he bit his lower lip. They couldn't turn away and run, that would be cowardly; they'd have to face their mother.
Glancing towards his brother, 'Chaka sighed and flicked his tail.
"No turning back now," he mumbled as he began to slowly walk towards his mother as his head hung and eyes were fixed upon the ground not wanting to look up- oh no, anything but that.
But he did however will his eyes to look up towards the departing male and did flare his nostrils once. He wasn't so sure about him but he knew his mother and she probably wasn't in trouble or needed help. Yet that ever present sense and desire to protect still lingered even as the 'threat' was leaving.
He crept closer until he stood at least a foot away before Tai.
"Ehehe....hey mom," he chuckled with embarassment as he curled his tail around him.
He knew he was in trouble.
