Oh. What? Sable just sort of blinked at the pirate captain for a moment, tipping his head to one side. Well of course he wasn't old enough! Rook was in his late teens, so to speak, and Sable was only twenty-three. Wait. Wasn't he twenty-five now? It didn't matter too much, only that it was completely impossible. "They a-aren't m-mine," he tried to explain. Didn't he say that before. "Th-they're...ah...e-exp-peri-im-ments." How he hated using that word, but really, it was the only way to explain it to someone who wasn't involved in the project.

"Than...I make 'em go byebye!" Leviathan huffed, turning towards the ocean. "Please go 'way now," he asked his wave friends politely, "'cuz I wanna fin' my treasure la'er," he added. He didn't want to hurt the waves' feelings and further ignored anything Melchy had to say on the matter. Clearly, he did not watch enough pirate TV. "...steal a boat?" Now that caught his attention. The little lobster boy twisted to give Melchy a stern look. "Why do that?" That seemed really silly. What would they need a boat for?

Sable nearly leapt off the dock when the screech ripped through his thought process and took a good few moments to recovery enough sanity to realize Leviathan was not near him. (Really, he should have realized the toddler was being entirely too quiet. Leviathan was never quiet.) "Oh, hearts!" he yelped, looking around frantically. "Leviathan! Where are you!?"

"...uh-oh."

Why steal a boat? Melchy froze and skidded up short, turning to look at Leviathan. Why steal a boat? That was like asking, "Why wear a hat?" or "Why carry a sword?"

"Cos that's what pirates do," he said. "Silly!" he added, though his smile was good-natured and pleased, not condescending or angry with Leviathan anymore. "Where you learn abou' pirates?" he asked the boy, suddenly flopping down on the sand and regarding Leviathan solemnly. He had never heard anything like what Levi said, and whoever tought him obviously taught him wrong.

Katrina grabbed Sable's arm when he almost fell, feeling like it would probably not be a good thing if Sable cracked his skull open on any of the old concrete pylons, though she continued swearing under her breath while she scanned the sand at the base of the dock for footprints.

There! "Mister Hazard," she said quietly, interrupting the stream of curses for a moment, "I believe I've found the children." She smiled slightly and pointed at the tracks. "Don't worry, they're quite safe, I'm sure. I pity anyone who would try to hurt Melchizedek."

She leaped gracefully down from the pier onto the sand and started off in the direction the children had gone, strolling like she had nothing better to do. "Melchizedek Ishmael Chandler, you'll regret the day you were born!" she called out.

Melchy froze and flattened his ears. "Uh-oh, yeah..." he mumbled.

Leviathan snorted, but was forced to concede. Jack Sparrow stole boats all the time. Duh. "Fine," he said, feeling the need to shake his head anyways. "I knew tha' alrea'y," he informed Melchy, "I was jus' testin' ya, stupid." His daddy told him not to use that word, but Rook got to use it all the time and besides, Melchy deserved that. "Nnnn, Rook," he admitted, as though Melchy should already know exactly who and what a Rook was. He was about to continue, but Melchy's mommy was come jumping down from the docks. Oh no. The toddler took off for the sand as fast as his little legs would take him.

Unfortunately, he had forgotten about his own father and suddenly found himself high above the ground in a pair of very familiar arms. "Uh-oh," he muttered again, twisting so he could give Sable his most pitiful face. It was a very good pitiful face, and the scientist was rendered completely angerless, only able to pat the boy's teal hair.

"...I-I supp-pose you need t-to get b-back to your sh-ship, Miss Captain Chandler?"

Katrina ignored the huge catlike display that Melchy put on when she finally made it over to him. She simply picked him up by the back of his shirt, tucked him firmly under one arm, and walked back over to where Sable was standing, ignoring the boy's yowls, curses, and kicking. And she did the entire thing at a leisurely stroll, slower than a true purposeful walk, with an easy sway of her hips that was remarkably out-of-place in someone dressed so much like a man.

She gave Sable a bow, not once shifting Melchizedek from his spot against her ribcage, and then glanced up, smiling. "It's been an interesting experience, Mister Hazard, but you're right; I really should be returning to my ship." She shook Melchy once, and the boy stopped spitting long enough to look at her. "What do you say to Leviathan?" she asked. Melchy considered this, then grinned toothily at Levi.

"You's fun t'be 'roun', even if you don' know nothin' bout pirates!" he said brightly, waving and then laughing. "You's should come sailin' wif' me nex'time!" he added, and Katrina sighed softly.

"Anyway," she said, rolling her eyes. "I'm sure we'll be seeing each other around. This one needs to be socialized, and I'm thinking perhaps the Liberty Center is the best idea."

She dropped another short bow and smiled winningly. "Good day, Sir, fair winds and following seas."
