"Mhm," Habu agreed simply, recalling the time Safuma had tried to follow him without noticing- and wondered how much she'd improved in the time that had passed since then. After all, she was dedicated to the task, surely she'd been practicing. His attention returned to Sheshe when she said his name- and asked him an.. interesting question.
"Um," he hesitated in return, "Is there a reason?"
Habu could keep his suspicions to himself, just like they'd kept any direct explanation (if he was right) to themselves.

Oh, dear. There really wasn't any way to go about this that wasn't awkward and potentially...well, she doubted absolutely disastrous, but she didn't know Wahabu well enough to really be able to predict what could happen.
Her ears tipped back in uncertainty, and her tail flicked nervously. She was definitely wishing Kizamaji was here right now. "I...I love him" she said finally, "I have for a very long time."

Habu didn't seemed affected deeply by what she said, for it only really confirmed what he already knew (or could now say he'd known all along). It was the 'very long time' comment that brought another thought to mind, something much more concerning.
"What about him?" he asked carefully.

"I..." Lemaa'sheshe hesitated, taking a moment to think. It was a very good question. She'd never actually stopped to think about why she loved Kiza, or exactly what it was about him.
"He's...he's always been there. I'm not sure how else to explain it. I just...do."

The young adult continued to watch Sheshe carefully, and her answer wasn't quite what he was looking for- except it brought up another strange point. Hadn't she just said they'd lost contact? This only added to his wondering about other things. His daring in asking personal questions was declining quickly, but he felt this was important enough.
"Always?" he asked, finally deciding to ask that simple question of Sheshe and perhaps interrogate his father later. The only problem Wahabu saw with asking his father was that he wasn't sure where he'd get the straightest answers- Sheshe seemed to be very honest, easily making her seem more credible than his father at the moment. She wasn't the one bringing other lions home without any mention of the possibility beforehand, after all.

Well, mostly always. She didn't doubt that he would have continued to be there as her friend if she hadn't run away. So finally, she answered, "Yes. Anytime I asked it of him, he was there."
Despite the fact that Wahabu was Kizamaji's son, this was not a cub she was talking to, and she knew it. Habu was very much an adult, and not her son. There was no real reason she shouldn't be able to speak straightforwardly with him.
"We didn't...really drift apart, I suppose," she admitted, "I went away, is how it was. After he took a mate." There was no resentment about her, only a general sadness at the memory.

Habu nodded a long a little bit with that Sheshe said, still confident he was getting honest answers out of her- she didn't sound like she'd rehearsed these answers, but she didn't sound like she was just making it up, either.
"How often have you spoken since-- you went away? How much before you moved in?" he asked, his only hesitation at the point where he could have mentioned his mother's departure and he did his very best to sound curious about it. Habu only wanted to know if this was as sudden for her and is had been for him.

"We didn't," she said slowly, "Not until he came looking for me, the day he brought me here." Whether it was the kind of answer Wahabu wanted to hear, she had no idea, but it was the only answer she had to give.

"Oh," Habu murmured quietly, not sure if that was what he was expecting to hear or not- and not sure if that was what he wanted to hear. He gave a slight shrug as an explanaiton of why he'd asked, and glanced away.
"Well, I think I'm going to go look for my friend," he said quietly, not sure how polite it would be to just leave but figuring it would only get more awkward if he stuck around now. He did, however, offer the lioness a small explanation, "He's been gone a long time, and he came back- but I still haven't seen him."

"Good luck, then," she answered, smiling softly. "I hope you find him." There was a certain sympathy in her voice.

Habu returned the smile, though sheepishly- a little guilty of trying to escape now, though he imagined (or hoped) she understood.
"I'll see you later, then," he said, and with that he took off.
