BIG question, bro.....

why is the sword master so much like the swashbuckler?

could it keep the medium armor?

Kenkaru - Char creat
Paladin of Chaos

Paladin of Freedom

Paladin of Darkness

Holy Liberators

Paladins of freedom can be holy liberators.... even if they are a mix of chaos and freedom....

Paladin of darkness..... Tyrant!

Paladin of Chaos (as a chaotic, destructive, bad thing)........ Sunderer (the one who takes things, and changes or destroys them to make space for the new things.... and for more chaos, of course!) {of course, they wouldn't care if anyone called them any way, they ARE chaotic, after all!}

Paladin of..... Balance! (something like England until WW2): eye of the storm.
Description: you go, looking for the overpowering force, be it light or darkness, good or evil, law or chaos. When you find it, you help its enemies, so that the universe remains balanced.

Also, got something like a few ideas that can be taken out of Lone Wolf setting.... and wish to see some rokugani things up there.....

will think about them after all the basics are done.

sweatdrop besicly the swashbuckler is the clasi musketeer like fighter you know with the rapier and stuff while the swrd master is more like a master of the blade, in other words katanas and stuff althought both master the use of a sword wearing no armor the style of combat they use is totaly diferent

well the main diference between the paladin of freedom and the holy liberator is than the paladin of freedom is more like a knight in shining armor seeking freedom from tyrany and stuff, while the holy liberator is more like a nomad a ranger like person who seeks freedom on his own not really a menber of a certain religion like the paladin but holy because he drains holy energy from his acctions ^.^

about the seeting well if you present them to me I take them on her since I dont know anything about lone wolf lol

How exactly do these paladins come to be? Extremely rugged training? I can't imagine the paladin of freedom doming much if they're all nomads...

hummmm..... by parts....

a) I think that taking out use of any weapon but the chosen sword AND medium armors is a great penalization.... So, I'd think (from a game-balance point of view) that it should be compensated with GREAT abilities OR some noticeable abilities and the use of medium armor (yet, I agree that the SM wouldn't use heavy ones.

b) I'm looking at the Paladin's stuff as it came out in a Dungeon (or was it Dragon?) mag abour 3.5. One "paladin" for every alignment.... that would be 9..... Personally, I created a "Knight" sequence for my world (never played, sadly) in which there were 5 alingment factions. Paladin (LG), Holy liberator (CG), Tyrant (LE), Destroyer (CE), Quester (TN). So, I hereby present the idea, so that we don't drown in paladin-type classes. wink

c) yep, I know..... I'll see what can I do with the classes and races (they come mixed in the rulebooks), and which could be addapted... then, I'll submit them (race and appropiate classes, of course!). But that'll have to wait.

d)Well, paladin-types are supposed to be called to the path of arms and (un)righteoussness and (un)holyness by a god.... then, they take up training with some godly order, and take up the sword and embark on queste for their gods and orders to battle their enemies with special (un)holy powers.
Some orders can be strict (in the case of lawful gods) while others are just a loose net of people who serve the same god in their own way. The simplest story behind a paladin-type would be training under a more-experienced paladin-type (as a squire or slave, basically), or simply the divine call and the taking of the arms.

Well in the old fashion D&D games paladins used to be warriors of a certain deity, who used to fight for the god ideals and bla bla bla. But this time I m using the most common paladin and the one that was described for the D&D 3.5 campaign settings, I think paladins do not necessarily follow a deity, they follow a dogma. For example a true paladin would be like the knight in shining armor who is the last hope against the great evil in the world, he follow the dogma of law, order and goodness combined with his desire for a better world, some paladins indeed follow major deities and churches. A paladin is either trained by another paladin, or is a person who receives a call to arms by a mayor power. ((maybe a deity or extra planar creature.)) Paladins of darkness, freedom and chaos are the same as the paladins of light but their dogmas are different some seek the good for everyone by breaking the laws or doing some sabotage, paladins of darkness follow the dogma of evil slavery and use their powers to benefit themselves at the cost of others, while paladins of destruction or chaos only lives for that, to raid chaos around the world, bloodshed and destruction is what they seek and want. Basically all paladins only follow their own dogmas with or without a deity power behind them.

sweatdrop I was wondering if it would be a good idea to include psionics on the campaing
PostPosted: Mon Aug 15, 2005 1:19 am

Psionics are what make D&D fun! Well...assuming that not everyone is a powerful fighter when it comes to psionics. Then things kinda turn into a messed up Akira-like game.
