"I was practicing" was all she managed to get out with the 'playing with your god' question. she felt that as a worshiper of masks, maybe her god would like it better if she didn't say her worship right off the bat. at much as she wanted to talk about it.
but his last Statement had her completely forgetting about ways to explain to him with out outright telling him.
he... had no parents? she didn't need to hide her features for this one, feeling her ears droop down, her heart sinking sadly
"you don't have a mommy? or a daddy? but... who protects you?" she asked
"who keeps you warm at night?"

He didn't really respond to her 'practicing' since it only confused him, let alone his emotions were taken over by the next subject.
Usiku wished she had only taken what he had told her, in a better, more uplifting way. Instead, his emotions were bound to show now.
His expression started matching hers when his ear started to droop also. "Well, I have parents and siblings..." he started explaining. "I just... kind of got lost."
Frowning, he knew that nobody besides himself kept him warm at night.
