Tete was looking at Mvumo anxiously, this time out of excitement, when he saw a sudden change in the lion's expression. When he was asked outright if he knew Kubwa, Tete's sat down and fought the urge to sink back into the grass again. The change in Mvumo was alarming, and was what he'd hoped to avoid-
Defensively, he shook his head.
"N-no," Tete lied, "Who's he?" He didn't even think of what would happen when he inevitably had to confess to who he really was, it would happen sooner or later. They were, after all, family.

A wide grin appeared on Mvumo's maw as he sat back down again, lowering his head to Tete's level. The cub's nervousness and question only proved Mvumo's theory; surely Tetemeko would not have forgotten Mvumo calling out 'Kubwa, my son' only a short time ago. "You do not have to be afraid to tell the truth. If you are, as I suspect, my grandson, it will only give me more of a reason to let you win at hide and seek."

Tete was surprised to see Mvumo grin, and quickly he realized he was a horrible liar as well as a horrible actor. He also realized, though, that his grandfather wasn't taking it as badly as he expected- in fact, he was taking it very well. Maybe daddy was crazy- he got them all backwards.
"You're not mad?" he asked, tilting his head, "You still wanna play?"

"Of course I'm not mad," Mvumo said, not breaking from his grin. "In fact, come with me and I'll show you the hiding places your dad doesn't know about."
Well, it wasn't the whole truth. Mvumo was a bit mad...but not at Tetemeko. No, his anger was reserved for Kubwa, who had apparently fed Tete stories to make him fear his grandparents, a fear that would allow Kubwa to avoid the consequences and responsibilities of his adult decision. Kubwa needed a stern talk...but for now, Mvumo's mind was on a fun hide and seek, and he was going to let his grandson win.

Tete was relieved to hear in words that Mvumo wasn't mad, not guessing how his little charade might have got his father into more trouble. He was happy now to just focus on the game they were going to play!
"Ok!" he said excitedly, hopping up and waiting for his grandfather to show him.

"Follow me..." Mvumo said, before he rose up again and started walking to the best place he knew for hide and seek. Oh, these would be interesting times indeed.
((And...end?))

"Ok!" Tete agreed brightly and followed after his grandfather without hesitation, rather pleased with how things were going now.
