He shrugged his shoulders lightly. "I have no idea. She aims for their minions first, is what I've gathered. If you ever see a tree with ivy growing on it," AKA every tree in the area, "it's likely if you hang around long enough you'll see her take a flying leap out of nowhere to maul it with a fervor I've seen nowhere else."
At least the insane hyena was passionate about her self-given quest.
The point Raylan made next was a good one to Nitesh, but then again.. "But you never know if you'll want to talk to someone you see out there, so I can only imagine that it -is- up to you." Nitesh said, then laughed a bit. "It's up to you if you wish to trust my judgement or not. You don't 'have' to. I'm sure you can judge things yourself too."
His heart sort of skipped a beat at the look she gave him, causing him to make a sort of a face and press a paw over where he -thought- his heart was about, location-wise, checking for any heart-issue he might have secretly been having and not been able to tell.
"I'm glad you think so." he replied at her praise of it, noting that it seemed to be the first tone of 'happiness' he'd heard in her voice, before he laid down on his side, looking out into the open area most of the pride socialized in.

She just smiled as he kept on talking about the hyena, her tail swishing slowly as she listened, "my sister used to be very much like that; determined, I mean, not crazy." Though, at mention of her sister, she frowned; she hadn't wanted to leave her behind.
She purred softly, nodding to him, "true, I may see someone very interesting pass by and want to talk to them - but for the most part I'm pretty sure that it's ok to trust you and your judgment." She turned away then to examine the little den some more, entirely missing his heart-checking. She probably would have thought it quite odd, or been worried about his health if she hadn't.
As he lay down, she meandered over towards him and lay at his side; not in his personal space, of course, but close enough to talk. She felt more comfortable here than she had anywhere in a very, very long time. "Well, I do, I think that I'll be safe here."
At least for a little while.
"So tell me about your pride, Nitesh," if she was going to be here a while, she had better learn about the place - she didn't want to offend anyone.

"Well, there's not a lot to say about it. It's basically what you see and what the name of it implies. We welcome most everybody here, including insane hyenas, and we're quite the intertwined pride. We all try to play a part in the lives of each other and have quite the get-together's every now and then." he explained, lifting a paw to use it for the body-language needed to emphasize some points.
Y'know, the ones that needed a paw spun about pointlessly. Now to continue.
"We follow the goddess of Unity, which is sort of... y'know.. redundant based on the name of the pride." Nitesh chuckled a bit as he said this, pondering it if was really necessary to say. "But we also don't shun those of our people who leave the pride for other places for whatever reason they give. We're still a pride, no matter where our members scatter."
He felt so -long winded- going off like he was about the pride he'd grown up in and loved so much. But he couldn't help it. Raylan had asked him to talk about it, so he was. Then again, maybe there was something in particular she was hoping he'd hit on, topic-wise. "Aside from that, we're much like other prides. Aside from the superiority complexes I've heard some mention as well as a significant lack of slavery here."

She smirked at the way he used his paws to talk, amused at the gestures. She'd never really seen many lions talking with their hands; she hadn't seen any at all, actually. Then again, Raylan had never really seen many lions outside of her father's oasis, and there weren't many others inside of it.
"I only wanted to know, to make sure I didn't offend somebody," she purred out, tail flickering as she settled her maw down gently upon her pale forepaws, "I've heard that some prides are really touchy about their beliefs and ideas, and saying the wrong thing can really get you in trouble."
At his last words, she frowned, shutting her eyes. Taking a deep breath, she reopened them, "I'm glad there's no slavery here, there was a lot of it where I came from." She forced a sad little smile on her face, eyes turning to look at him before glancing back out into the pride lands.

Nitesh nodded a bit at her explanation. "Oh, I doubt there's any-way that's not already socially-unacceptable elsewhere that you may have been that you could offend someone here. We're pretty laid back." Yeah, he didn't have any idea what she'd just come from or else he basically would have said 'everything that your pride may have made 'socially acceptable' pretty much isn't here' instead.
He noticed her strange reaction to the mention of slavery, his ears flattening back a bit, pondering if she had some horrible tie to such a thing. He kept a concerned look on his face while she recovered from the statement then forced a response to it.
What situation was hers to make her respond almost like my brother would....? he pondered internally, following her gaze to look out into the lands of the pride, before he shifted his weight to get up.
"I don't know about you," he said, looking down to her with a bit of a smile, "but I think I should go out and get us something breakfast wise. Unless your not hungry?" He lifted his brows ever so slightly with the last inquiry. It was strange, he thought, to actually have to ask someone else if they were hungry for a change instead of just going out on his own whim.

As he said that sentence, she simply smiled rather sadly and shook her head. If he had any idea of who her father was, he would not have said such a thing. Of course, being that Raylan was not stupid, she knew what he meant and simply nodded her head in agreement. Anyone with sense would know that you weren't supposed to act as Nyekundu said.
Her sad story was not one she was ready to express out in the open, and she silently thanked Nitesh for not forcing her to open to him. She would, perhaps, one day before she left the lands - just so that he would know how much he really had helped her, but for now she was just as happy to keep it quiet.
No one needs to know those horrors, she thought to herself, least of all, someone who is happy and couldn't possibly imagine them alone.
"That sounds lovely, actually," she said, the corners of her mug turning up into a smile as her tangerine eyes floated back upwards to meet his again. She really hadn't realized she was hungry - being on the run so much meant she often ignored the pang in her belly. She, actually, couldn't remember the last time she ate. "As long as you don't mind, of course.

Well, she -seemed- to understand what he meant, so he'd determined that she hadn't grown up under a -rock- or something. That was good. Not to say he'd hold it against her if she -had-, but. Well, the point was made in his head, he wasn't making an idiot out himself out loud.
Internally, he was pleased when it seemed he'd been smart enough to touch a topic that got an actual smile out of her. At least, it felt more like a smile than all her other ones had. Maybe he was just delusional, though.
"It's not a bother at all! I was going to do it anyways." he replied, seeming to be pleased to have someone to wait-on, if just a bit, before he stepped away from her to go back out into the sun, wincing a bit as the light shone in his eyes, before he turned his head back to look at her again. "I'll be back in a bit. You can just hang out in there as you'd like or whatever else while I'm gone." he invited, though it was a bit redundant.
That bid, Nitesh continued out into the sunlight to head back out through the jungle and off to find a meal for himself and his guest. Here was to hoping Uzuulu didn't find Raylan in there and wonder what happened to 'Nitesh-not-Paki'.

Those tangerine orbs lingered on Nitesh as he began to rise, her head tilted upward from her position on the floor. "I'll be waiting here," she said, her smile widening a little at her half-joke. She couldn't exactly go anywhere else.
As he slunk out of the cave, her smile faded to a content look. She was comfortable here, and Nitesh was going to look out for her. It was a change from what she was used to, of course; someone wanted her to stay and wanted to help instead of trying to push her away, or beat her down. It was with these thoughts in mind that she curled up, warm in the slanting light of a few stray sun rays coming through the den entrance.
This kind of felt like home.
