Seeing Tete smile like that made her happy. It made her smile back at him a little bit. He was her friend, basically her only friend, and she didn't want to see him sad. She didn't want to be feeling sad herself, and making him smile, however she'd managed it, cheered her up a great deal. And it was oddly comforting to learn that his situation was similar to hers. It made her feel like she wasn't alone, that her family's situation wasn't unique. And though it was perhaps a bad thing to have in common with someone, she felt a bit closer to Tete because they had it in common. They could talk about it and understand each other in a way someone who didn't live without a mother couldn't.

"Yeah," she said with a nod. "I'm going to ask him. I want to know why she had to leave. But... I'm still worried it'll upset him to talk about it."

Tete felt precisely the same way as Sin did, and her confirming the idea that why her mother was not around was something she wasn't to know deepened his impression. She obviously understood and felt the same (on some level) about it, and for that the young lion was very grateful. Even knowing she was going to try to ask her dad made asking his own seem more reasonable, they may not be doing it together directly but ... if she was going to be brave, he could be.

"Well, you have to ask if you want to find out," he pointed out glumly, thinking about how calling his father on a might-be lie and asking for the truth might make him upset, "I guess you just have to decide if you could stand not ever knowing. Well, we both have to, right?"

Considering their situations, Tete did realize he had some advantage in that he already had been told something and if he wanted to he could believe and cling to it. The only question was if that was what he wanted. Sin, on the other hand, had nothing but the mystery- which wasn't much of an alternative.

Glancing away to the side, her shoulders slumping and her vibrant eyes going dull, Sineri considered her friend's words. Could she live without knowing? Life was far from unbearable as it was. She had a safe home, a loving father, the protection of a large pride... What was she searching for? Nothing but knowledge, really. But she wanted that knowledge so bad. She needed to know why it was Kia left. She needed to know if it was them, she and her siblings, that had caused it.

Morosely, she nodded her head. "Yeah... I have to know. I have to ask, there's no way around it." She sighed softly, her eyes flattening against her skull. "I just hope... dad's not too upset when I do..."

As Tete watched Sin, he could easily tell that she too realized that the alternative was not so appealing. He felt bad that he had obviously rubbed his bad mood off on her, especially when she had helped him so much. With a small sigh, he leaned forward and pressed his head against her shoulder in a playful headbutt.

"It'll be ok," he said, staying as awkwardly positioned as he was. It was about as friendly a gesture he could make, and it seemed like a time a hug or something would be good.

Sin blinked as Tete pressed his head up against her shoulder, her glum expression being replaced by one of mild surprise. Still, she definitely appreciated the gesture of comfort. A little bit of affection always went a long way to cheer her up, and usually it was her father she got it from. But since Ez was part of the problem that was making her feel this way, she could hardly go to him this time. The fact that Tete offered it without being asked made her feel happy, happier than she'd been feeling a few moments ago.

With a little smile, she slowly let her head lean against the top of his, accepting the comfort and offering some in return, silently agreeing that it was indeed time for a hug of some sort. "I hope so, Tete. For both of us."

As awkward as it could have been, Tete was saved by Sin returning the gesture by leaning back against him. It made him happy to know she didn't mind- and he realized that he'd probably have to say Sin was his best friend (despite their initial differences in opinions over the mud. He coud handle that, he guessed.)

Suddenly a bit more cheerful and optimistic, Tete was sure everything would be ok.

Being an independant girl, Sin never really sought out the company of others, preferring to sunbathe in peace and do her socialising at home. She hadn't really spoken to all that many others, as strange as it seemed. Tete was really her only friend, and it meant a whole lot that her first friend had turned out to be someone so willing to be there for her when she needed him to be. Though he may actually be the only one, Tete was definitely the best friend she could have asked for, even if only for this reason.

"I'd probably better be heading off soon," she eventually murmured quietly. "The sooner I ask, the sooner I know and it's.. over with." It seemed the smartest thing to do, after all. If she kept putting it off, she might eventually lose her nerve completely. The strange thing, though, was that she somehow didn't want to leave Tete at that moment.

Tete was rather social himself, but he did not have many siblings at home to play with and fulfill his desires to play. Of all the lions he considered friends, though, this moment certainly put Sin well ahead of the rest. And he was quite happy with that. His pulled his head carefully from her side and looked at her when she said she should head back to talk to her father now- sooner was better than later, Tete quite agreed. And the sooner he asked his own father, the fresher the topic and the less time his dad would have to come up with a new story for when it, inevitably, came up again.

"I guess you're right," he agreed, glancing off to where he'd have to go to find his family.

Sineri couldn't really understand why, but she was quite disappointed when Tete moved away from her and their little hug came to a sudden end. Ok, so maybe she had kinda suggested that it did, but she had been reluctant even then. But she nodded, sighing softly in a manner that Tete would probably assume was dread rather than disappointment, shifting her paws through the grass.

"Yeah," she said, a touch glumly. "So... I guess we should go talk to our dads now, then. That means it's goodbye for now." Bleh, and never before had that word needed such force to get out. She wanted that talk with her daddy, but at this moment, moreso did she just want to spend the rest of the day with Tete.

Tete glanced back at Sin in time to see her sigh and shift her paws around, and did indeed mistake it for the worry of what was to come from their questioning their fathers. Smiling a bit, he put one of his paws on hers to try to make her feel a bit better about it- after all, this was .. mostly- somewhat- kind of.. his idea. Well, he'd brought it up, anyway!

"For now," he agreed, "We have to find each other again soon to say what happened, anyways. And besides, I like talking to you." Tete managed a bright smile, feeling much better at that particular moment.

Sineri looked up in surprise, her ears perking upright, as Tete laid a paw over hers. She didn't know why such an action caused such a reaction in her, but it certainly did. A most interesting but mildly alarming sensation was starting in her stomach. She could only describe it as... 'fluttery'. Or perhaps 'jumpy'. Either way, it was strange, and something she definitely blamed on Tete's paw touching hers. She decided, however, that now was not the time to mention it to him, on the offchance he knew what it meant. Maybe she could ask her father... once other, more important questions were out of the way.

Sineri gave Tete a big smile in reward for that. She was unreasonably happy that Tete liked spending time with her like this, in play and in times when seriousness was essential. She hoped he knew she felt the same, though her smile probably communicated that quite clearly, if not more. "How about... we meet back here in a few days? To give us both time to ask what we need to ask and think about the answers we get."

Tete almost jumped and removed his paw when Sin reacted so suddenly, thinking perhaps he shouldn't put his paw on hers- but he was happy with it there, and she did smile so.. why take it away? Being male, however, he had no idea or insight as to why this might be or if it really was anything to think about. He was just happy, happier than he'd been in a couple of days.

"It's a date!" he said brightly when she suggested meeting up again in a couple of days, and only vaguely realized what he said- which did now cause him to take his paw away awkwardly. Tete smiled sheepishly, and chose that moment to get to his feet.

"I'll see you then," Tete mumbled, meaning it as his farewell.

At the word 'date', her eyes widened a little bit in surprise (and perhaps a little bit of alarm, because the fluttery feeling in her stomach went a bit haywire for some unknown reason), and then she dropped them as she took a moment to consider why she automatically took just one innocent word as... something different. But with all the other things on her mind, did she really want to deal with it right then and there? Deciding, finally, that she would dissect this particular feeling and her actions later, she quickly lifted her head back up again to smile back at Tete.

"All right, then! It's settled. We'll meet back right here in, say... three days?" She got to her feet as well even as she said this, slowly beginning to move away from her friend, heading in what seemed to be the opposite direction to the way Tete had to go to find his father.

"Three days," Tete agreed with a nod, his voice returning to more than just a mumble after moving beyond his little slip, "I'll see you then, right back here." He nodded, and despite any desire to delay his departure, the young lion turned around and jogged back off towards home and his father. Hopefully he would get a straight answer this time!
