"Here goes!" Harper announced, pushing them off the slide. Down they went, the 'rush' something amazingly boring for the older child, but he was deciding to play along and made a loud overly dramatic scream. "WE'RE ALIVE!" He announced with disbelief as they slid to the bottom of the slide. "Are you still alive!?" He asked, moving to turn Carlisle toward him.

Sunny scoffed, "You don't know my bandmates." He said with a bit of a wry smile. "But it's just as well, pays the bills... just who, exactly, makes the laws for magic in your - ah, our world?"

Carlisle gave a shriek of pure joy and was still clapping his hands when he turned to face Harper. "Again," he said hopefully, knowing that when he did that, usually people did whatever they'd just done again. He knew for sure that his mother did, and so did the crazy lady with wings from next door. Logic said Harper should, too.

She smiled again. "I guess I don't," she agreed, spreading her hands and shrugging. "And, uh, it depends on the region. I think it's the Arch-Lich for this region, but I don't really know. I... haven't taken the current events courses yet."

"Alrighty." Harper muttered, popping to his feet. Much quicker than the last time, he climbed up the set and got ready to go down the slide again. "I don't suppose you wanna go down yourself, do ya?" He asked, turning his head curiously.

Sunny snorted, "I see. Well, there's always someone dictating something, I guess.. would be nice to visit a plane with something original for once, though." He decided at that point there was no point putting on anymore airs. "Are you from this planet?" He asked, quite seriously.

He considered it, sticking two fingers in his mouth as he did so. It took a minute before he nodded and said, "Okay! Again!" Carlisle turned his face to the bottom of the slide and expectantly put his hands up in the air.

"No," she said, equally as serious as she turned to face him. "Are you?"

Harper shook his head, "Woah hold up." He went to grab Carlisle and pull him back, "Let me go first so I can catch you, okay? Don't want you to rocket off..." He paused, considering it, "Well, maybe," he thought a bit longer, "Yeah yeah, never mind. I'll go first." He went to go down the slide first so he could turn and catch the baby when he came.

Sunny coulden't help but smile a little, "No, not in so many words." He thought about it a moment gave a shrug, "I'm from a version of this planet, another level of existence.. planar traveling, realms, you at all familiar?"

"I wish I could say I was," Lixxie said. "But I've only heard of planar traveling in passing before." She nibbled on her lower lip as she watched the two children.

The baby looked like he might be sulking, but the second Harper reached the bottom of the slide he zoomed right after, squealing and laughing the whole way.

Harper snorted at the baby's enthusiasm. When Carlisle was at the bottom of the slide, rather than actually catching him, Harper more just used his body as a plug, so when Carlisle hit Harper gave a slight huff and then moved to pick the boy up. "There you go! Didn' that feel better than lettin' your mommy hold your hand all the way down?!"

"Oh." Sunny said simply, looking back at the kids. "I'm surprised he's willing to play with the baby, they usually get left behind. I guess it's the heat." As if suddenly remembering, Sunny wiped his brow off and gave a pathetic gesture at the sky.

He nodded enthusiastically, clapping his hands again. "Again?" Carlisle adopted the most hopeful look he knew how, clasping his hands and sticking out his lower look. It usually worked. He'd never met anyone immune to this face. Ever.

"It's really not so hot out, it's just humid." Lixxie seemed to brush off the temperature with good will. "Did you hear? They've predicted a thunderstorm tonight."

Harper grinned, "Alright, let's go up the slide, this time." He said, offering his hand. With a marvelous show, the boy started pushing himself up backwards the slide, using his legs, trying to keep his arm free for pulling Carlisle a long. He glanced up once to make sure Lixxie wasn't freaking out or something.

Sunny turned his head to the side, "Oh?" He shook his head, realizing how hard small talk was for him. "Storms can be fun... do you ah, play any instruments?" He asked, clinging at straws.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 26, 2007 11:41 am

He was game. Sure, this was backwards of the normal order, but Carlisle would try anything once. Maybe twice. Three times if he wasn't sure of his opinion. Of course, he wasn't Tarzan and he didn't play any sports yet, so he had to depend a little more on Harper than another boy might have. The poor kid spent all his time in the company of priests, scholars, drunken frat boys, and his mother, who was like some unholy combination of the first two items without the sense of humor of the latter. He didn't exactly get to do much running around like this.

"Yes," Lixxie said, not quite able to follow the train of thought from storms to instruments, but attempting to continue the conversation anyway. It'd be so awkward to sit here and watch Carlisle go up the slide- as much as she'd love to run over and grab away her son, he wasn't in any real danger. Surely Harper wouldn't drop him back down, and even if, then he'd learn not to trust so surely... "My father forced me through eight years of piano." As if it were really a great hardship. It had made learning to use a computer a lot easier when the time came. "You play guitar," she remembered aloud.

Harper briefly lost his grip on the slide, but quickly caught himself (and of course, the baby!) Once the pair was up top, he puffed his chest out proudly and roared. "That's right! We have conquered the stupid slide, little dude! Let the world know! COME ON!"

Sunny gave a long, exasperated, overly dramatic sigh at the two boys, fanning himself again for the heat. "Forced you? Music isn't in you, then? Yeah, yeah... guitar." He smiled a moment later, remembering the differences between his people and most of the types on gaia, "It's strange for me, I suppose. Where I come from any ability to play is nurtured and a gift of the most precious sort; when I hear of people disregarding it.. well, it's unusual."

He copied Harper and raised his arms up high, looking a little absurd. "BEAT! SLIDE!" While his yell didn't have the fear-inspiring depth of Harper's, it still made him pretty happy with himself. "Yeah!"

She shrugged. "My hands are too small for the piano," she said, holding up her hands. Her fingers couldn't span an entire scale as it was sometimes necessary. "I hear a lot of things like that about other gifts, too. Like elemental powers. My father doesn't approve." Lixxie shoot her head. "I'm sure you're really excellent, thought." Her voice was eager and happy.

Harper grinned at the little boy. The squirt was pretty cool after all. "Yeah, so now when your mom tells you you're too small, you know what to tell her, right?!" Oooh, way to go Harper, bane of all parents.

Sunny smiled a bit and nodded, "Well, you have a dad. Where I come from, the rest of my band and I.. well, at our best, we could raise entire mountains, beckon waves from the oceans the size of our cities... music is, was our magic." Oh why not. He was sick of not having people to talk to about the first half of his life, anyway. Besides, she probably wasn't really listening.

"Not small!" He threw his arms in the air again, as if trying to reach the sky. "I big and good. You too!" Carlisle grinned back at Harper, obviously immensely pleased with himself. Even though Harper had done all the work.

Lixxie nodded firmly. "It's almost the same for me. Back home, my sister and I were considered near goddesses in our own right. We could create storms and level cities as we chose." She looked up at the gray sky, then sighed. "It sounds really nice. Music being magic, I mean. Incantations and meaning can't possibly compare."

Harper nodded. "That's right. Though you are gonna have to work on that deep roar voice, little dude." He said, lowering his voice as group and 'manly' as it would go; discovering quite sadly that it didn't go that low at all. Oh well.

Sunny frowned and shook his head, "No, it's... It's really impossible to explain, but music is a different thing there then here. It's inside everything, and we all could do it. You can imagine the chaos, I'm sure." He grinned fondly, leaning forward. "So there were the typical .. organizations.. in place to keep us in check, it's.. well, the same old story, just played a little different."
