Mwokoti wasn't sure how many times she had opened her to respond to one of countless questions--seriously, she'd lost count, he was asking them so fast--but she shut it +1 as many times, until eventually she gave up all together.

When he paused, she figured he was done, but then he started up again and she rolled her eyes. Goodness. The jungle mortals were completely out of their minds!

Alright... Try to remember them all.

"Yes, I help people find where they belong. I just have abilities that allow me to do this, they come to me like breathing or blinking, just naturally. The object itself is not 'magic', but the flame is."

What else had he asked...? Jeesh, what a loon!

"I was dead for an amount of time, that's why I couldn't assist anyone," she said, feeling a twinge of guilt over the issue. "That's...good." It was nice he had friends. It meant there were still tolerant mortals around.

Was he done yet...?

Mfuto had little or no concept of conversational manners, so getting a word in edgewise with him was generally impossible until he'd run out of things to say... or breath. It wasn't really his fault, he just didn't understand and never learned. Once he got excited, he needed to let it all out. And he was generally utterly oblivious to how annoyed people were with him unless they let him know... physically.

Interestingly, the only one who had ever actually physically hurt him was the one he hadn't even really done anything to. Still, the long scars running down his left side were a shining testament to a lesson learned.

The fact that he was still this sociable was actually kind of a miracle.

"Tha's amazin'," Mfuto gasped, awed at Mwokoti's 'calling'. "So... you's like a super-duper-place-findin'-person with magic fires." He blinked rapidly, considering this a moment. Then grinned. "Coooooool..."

And then his eyes went wide, and he paled. "Dead?" he whispered. "You was dead?" The idea was horrifying to him, that this woman had come back from the dead. So much so in fact that it left him uncharacteristically silent for some time, staring at her. But... she didn't look like a zombie. She looked pretty normal.

And then tears began to brim in his eyes. Overjoyed tears. He pressed his big paws to his face and asked of her, much slower, much calmer, "When... when you was dead, did you sees a lion who was this color?" He pointed to one of his washed-out orange spots. "Or... or a lioness who was white an' hads gray spots an' lookeded kinda likes me."

The idea that maybe this Goddess had, in death, seen his parents was Earth-shattering to Mfuto. And he really wanted to know how they were doing, being dead.

"Gods are different from mortals. We are restored upon our deaths." That thought plauged her greatly. It was true, there were times when she wished she could die for good, but how did one of her kind accomplish that?

She was musing over it, the past and the present, when she noticed the lion almost crying and nearly startled again. What...what was he doing? Her eyes were wide at his words, wider than she could remember them being.

Not much shook her, but this had.

She stared at the ground for a moment, an inner-battle raging. And, for that brief moment, she ignored that what she was doing, lying, was wrong.

"Yes, they are well with the other mortals. They are in the sky now, as stars."

"Ohhhhh..." Mfuto breathed, visibly relieved. He should've known that the rules would be different for magic people. He also, quite contrary to the goddess, thought that this was a wonderful thing. "Sounds purty handy," he said, rather nonchalantly, as though he were describing the merits of a hunting technique as opposed to resurrection.

What the goddess then said, lie or not, greatly eased Mfuto's innocent heart. He used the backs of his big paws to wipe away the tears that had posessed his eyes, and he smiled weakly. "Thank you, thank you, thank you," he whispered. "I's so glad." He sniffled briefly while his head still hung, then turned his head up to look at the sky. Though it was not yet nightfall, he still felt he could see the night's stars as clear as ever, in his mind's eye. "Stars, huh?" he mumbled. He always wondered what those things were doing up there. Now he felt he knew... they were souls, sparkling away because they were happy where they were. It made sense to him, and thus he accepted it for what it was.

There were no particular large rocks in sight. That was a good thing, because Mwokoti had the strong urge to bash her skull into one, which would no doubt lead to a lot more questions from this 'Mfuto'. She was getting a lot... weaker, in a sense. She blamed it entirely on that Pridelander. Why was it the clingy ones always found her?

"I have to go." It was a relief what she was saying, unlike some other things, was not a lie. She could feel the soul of another tugging at her from the Roguelands, needing to be led elsewhere.

Mwokoti was never one for goodbyes. Mostly, she had no idea how. So, it wasn't uncommon, like right now, for her to simply turn and leave wordlessly.

Mfuto might be a little slow, but some might call him gifted. He was gifted because he would never notice the annoyance and animosity the goddess was harboring towards him. All he saw was a quiet lady, if rather large and mysterious, who had brought him good news. And that was all he needed to see--it satisfied him.

No wonder the rogue lion was so utterly unflappable.

He continued smiling brightly, eyes sparkling with tears, staring intently at the sky, even as Mwokoti's countenance grew weary and she searched the immediate area for a bludgeon. In fact, he barely even noticed as she took her leave of him, but her words slowly registered in the back of his mind and he turned quick to see her leaving. He lifted a paw up and waved wildly. "Mm'kay... byyyyyyyyyyyye Missus Mo-wockety! Thank you thank you thank you so muches! Please come visits again sometimes, 'kay!?" And watching her go, Mfuto was perfectly content.

Even if she didn't like him, Mfuto was quite fond of the goddess.
