Leviathan giggled as Nereus mussed his hair, making a snorting noise as he flailed happily. His hair immediately settled as it was before Nereus scruffled it, as thought it was some giant cowlick.
Sable rolled his eyes. It was only a matter of time before Rook actually took someone's life. It would happen as soon as Juno uttered the orders, and Sable could never be sure Juno wouldn't actually do it. "I let Rook do as he pleases when I have Levi," Sable said, shrugging. "I highly doubt he'll come here since he knows Juno won't be present and Angelique will. Especially since there will be too small children. He chuckled and shook his head. "He doesn't like Levi. I don't think he understands small children."
Sable glanced down at his watch as Merc snapped at the other scientist. "Well, I should probably get going, anyways. I do have some stuff to work on." He gave Mercury a sheepish grin as he moved to take Leviathan from Nereus. "But call me when your cabbage hatches. I'm sure Levi would like a play date."

Mercury nodded enthusiastically at Sable as he made his excuses and went to leave. She had paperwork to do anyway, and the longer she distracted herself, the longer she would have to spend fixing it in the evening.
Nereus handed Leviathan back to Sable with a smile, winking at the little boy. "We'll be seeing you around, kiddo."
"Soon there'll be a little girl for you to play with," Mercury added from where she had already begun to shuffle the files she needed to update for the rest of the day. "It's been lovely, Sable. I'm sorry things didn't work out here, I really am." She paused to scowl at the thought of how Juno had screwed things over, but then brightened again. "And congratulations again on your job and finally making that field decision."
