The herbivore didn't struggle for long, and gradually went still before Kani dared move away, catching her breath just slightly from the wrestling match. Her rough pallated tongue ran over her fangs and then her muzzle, wiping clean the blood from the kill. There was an unfamiliar rush, and she stared down at the body in amazement for a long moment of silence before looking to the tired Makani, a big grin forming.
"I can't believe it actually worked...!"

He smiled as the gazelle stopped its fighting, little by little. It was lost already. "Good. " He said when she let go, and chuckled at how surprised she seemed.
"There's not much to it! " He said contently, and flopped onto the ground, allowing his shoulders to relax and panting. Even if he were to eat now, before helping Kani, he'd have to wait to catch his breath.

"Well, really, you did the hard part." She blinked, watching him panting tiredly and realizing for the first time just how true that was. It had happened rather quickly, just how fast did he run anyway? She smiled a little bit then, realizing something. She couldn't ask him to wear himself out on her account, and really, if he could hunt on his own she was sure she could learn. "Makani, actually? I think I can handle a hunt on my own now, you should rest and eat."
She straightened, glancing back for the path she'd taken out here to get back home, thankful she had a scent trail to follow. She then turned back and grinned in a friendly manner, feeling confidence restored. She wanted to be able to say she'd done the actual hunting on her own. With this male's help, she'd finally gained the edge she needed to finish the job instead of letting her prey escape, and really that was all she needed.
"If you're ever in the Pridelands, feel free to stop by and say hello."

The cheetah blinked, quirking his brows. But, he wasn't about to insist on helping. He had what he wanted, right? "If you say so. " He shrugged, and lied down, mouth agape for breath.
"I will, then. " He nodded and smiled, and watched the lioness move out of sight, while he himself waiting to cool down before he could eat. Sometimes, it was pretty crappy to be a cheetah!
