 "You are far more trusting than I." Juhudi always had been, always would be, a protective father, and like most fathers he was far more protective of his daughters than of his sons. That is not to say he loved them more or less, and that he dared trust his sons any further than he would his daughter. But Kani had always been so innocent and gentle, and such a young lioness was far more fragile, his little girl whom he wanted to forever keep from harm. But she had grown, and he could not longer keep her at his side, no longer protect her from the world. And though he knew this, he was not prepared to let go, to see the strength that had been hidden there all along. "I will give him a chance, but if he dares to harm her..." ------------------------- A small smile crossed his maw, strained though sincere. His head lowered, and braving whatever snarls may follow, he dared to touch her, his own maw gently nudged under her chin, lifting her head to find her eyes, to show her the sincerity in his own.
"Listen to me, last night was more than just a random encounter, it was more than just our actions. Last night we each found someone, a light to pierce our own darkness, who showed us both that we are not alone. We have each other, and nothing will ever change that."
His words flowed from his heart, falling from his lips while he still had the strength to say them, before he had the chance to walk away rather than burdening her with emotions she may not have shared. And though it may have seemed odd to care so for a lioness he had meet a mere night before, he knew now that he did, more than he thought he ever could.

"I can be. I know that he knows that I know how to find him if he screws up." Mosi retorted dryly, and completely serious.
She did sit down now, close enough to touch her mate's side and hope that calmed him at least a little.
"If it comes to that, and it's intentional, then I won't stop you." Hell, she'd probably be helping by that point. "But this might be a good thing for her." She murmered, brushing her muzzle against his shoulder, eyes still glued to the other two.
Kani couldn't help it, lifting her eyes in surprise as his muzzle touched her chin, urging her to lift her head. Her pale eyes met with his bright ones, and she listened, stilled by his words both in body and in heart.
"Bushido.... you... you really mean that?"
She didn't doubt his honesty, but it was hard to wrap her head around, that he might be scincere too. Her mind was in a total whirl!

His eyes narrowed as he watched the male touch his daughter, his body growing tense with a lash of his tail. He wanted to lash out, to growl at the stranger to stay away from his daughter. But he held his temper and his tongue, at last settling to sit at his mate's side, returning the affectionate gesture with his own those his eyes remained fixed on his daughter. "Well, that's comforting at least." Though he was not sure he shared his mate's sentiments about the dark male, perhaps he would come around in time. What was important was his daughter's happiness, for if his children were happy, then so too was he.

Bushido smiled, this one warmer than the last, a brief purr allowed to escape his chest. Did she feel the same as he did, did the look in her eyes show the same connection, the same longing that he felt?
"I do, with all my heart."
He was a kind and honorable lion, one who now at last began to understand his own words. The protective father need not fear for his daughter, for the dark lion would never harm her, the one who had shown him that he was not alone, not anymore. There was a light standing here before him, and in her presence all the darkness of the past seemed to fade away as if it had never been there at all.

"I want her to be safe too, but we both know that sometimes the best things can be masked by a little hurt..."
They'd found their feelings for one another while comforting each other after Mufasa's passing, after all, and while this was a little different, the basic idea was the same. She was too reserved to come outright and say it but Mosi believed in Bushido, something he'd simply better not betray or proove wrong. Kani would learn her life lessons, but that didn't mean that her parents couldn't still make sure that the cause of that pain understood the cost of messing with family.
Kani felt a relief like none she'd ever known before. What would she have done if he hadn't felt that way? It would have been something hanging over her head and over her heart for the rest of her life, a jading experience that she was sure would make trust an evasive concept regarding love. Who liked putting themselves out there and being ignored or rejected, after all? It wasn't that she would have held it against him, but she was glad that her feelings were something to share instead of something to feel she had to bear.
She closed the distance between again then, brushing her head under his chin just like she had the night before, only a bit more bold for the contact. The tears returned again, although this time they were relieved tears of joy. She shut her eyes, eyelids quivering with the effort to keep the moisture from spilling free, not wanting to worry Bushido or her parents anymore.
For as brief as those feelings had hit so hard, the fear had always been there, just at the back of her mind where she could distract herself from it. She didn't have to wonder about her future anymore, about being alone. She'd found her star, her own North star to help guide her through the dark, and she'd be there for him with all the love that she had to give.
"I love you..." She murmered, her ears rocking downward gently as the crown of her head fit perfectly under the curve of his chin and neck.

Juhudi grunted, tail flicking as he shifted against his mate. And there that male was, touching his daughter again, or rather she was touching him. His tail lashed as he anger rose again, more protective now than simply blind fury, this was going to take a long time to get used to. 'I suppose, but that doesn't mean I have to like it." He growl, his head turned to rest against Mosi's shoulder, one eye still suspiciously focused on the couple nearby. She was right of course, he had to let go, his daughter was not a little girl anymore. He shifted again, his gaze now focused fully, dangerously on the dark male, a look that said he was watching him, that he had better not harm his daughter. The male would be given a chance, for Kani's sake, but Juhudi would always be there, watching.

Blue eyes fell closed, a gentle warming purr reflecting the smile on his maw. He did not shy from her touch, but instead embraced it, returning the affection with all that now surged in his heart. It was a wonderful feeling, what he had found in here, made all the more sweet in the knowing that she too felt as he did.
Her words had surprised him, though the idea had not. Love, as she spoke those words he knew they were truth, the final realization of what they both had found, and it was then that his last reserved dropped and his heart was fully surrendered to the beautiful lioness before him.
He was her star, and she was his moon,and together, they were complete.
"And I, love you, Sheshe'Kani."
