He shook his head, blue eyes drifting to the horizon, taking in the scenery of the land around them.
"I do not, but if I did, this is where I'd want to raise them."
He had never thought of cubs, or even love for that matter. It was not that he did not wish for them, or that he would not have cherished them were he to find such happiness. But he was a lion of honor, and his duty to restore that honor must come first.
If she had asked him that question a few days from now, his answer and his reflection would have been different. For soon his world would change, and love would not seem that far away.

"Maybe one day you will," she ventured, ever the sort to think happily on the future, "And they can play with their cousins." There was a faint wistfulness to the imagining, an acknowledgement of something they had both lost.
All in all, however, it was a happy and hopeful thought.

He nodded, silently watching a distant bird as it scuttled through the grass as if it's movements held his own reflection.
"Perhaps I will."
There was a soft smile on his maw as he turned to look at her again. It was indeed a happy thought, even if a fleeting one. Honor first, he must atone for the past before he looked to the future.
"I would like that."
