Gigglemeister -
Oooh, Garry Oldman! Didn't think of him, but he certainly would be great as the Doctor!!
katybutterfly -
Yes he is leaving. David announced it himself. Can't remember when he said it though...
Ketsueki Yuki -
Oh well. It was a nice rumour while it lasted CX

Cow Demon katybutterfly - Yes he is leaving. David announced it himself. Can't remember when he said it though... I thought he always said he was staying non-committal. And added to which, it would have been on his website (which I check every day) if he'd said that. If you remember when and there is a link to it, post it so I can see for myself.

Stresshog If the Sun was right, we'd be on our 14th incarnation right now. So no, I don't believe it and surely they could do a bit better. He's a fine actor but not the Doctor at all. wow no he's on his tenth! incarnation Mr.Eccleson was the 9th David Tennant is the tenth (i have noticed a lot people keep thinking this).

Just watched the first episode of Jekyll, James Nesbitt would be an excellent Doctor. In fact, I'll be pissed of if he isn't/

I still think Rowan Atkinson would make an excellent Doctor. I can see him as slightly upturned and smug, but still having his goofy moments. Sort of like a mixture of Three and Six. heart

i know it has to happen, but i'd still be upset if david left. despite the fact that i LOVE him, i think they're just going through the doctors too quickly. it was the same with eccleston. i mean, yeah, they're written to be replaced, but there's still a finite number of them. a lot of the others lasted for YEARS, i think the seventh lasted about 7 years, not including the movie. yeah, the master has had about a billion lives, but i kinda think that's a bit contrived and corny. do it to the doctor and it would look just plain short-sighted. that doesn't mean i'd rather it end. if they have to contrive a new set of regenerations, so be it, but still...
as for the 10-or-12 thing, i believe david is technically considered the 10th. the way i understand it, somewhere between 8 and 9, the doctor was less formally played by 2 other people in like some one-shots or mini-productions or something. the people who say we're on 12 or something are counting those two as "9" and "10" making eccleston 11 and david 12. i figure that could be overlooked if the doctor was never portrayed as "regenerating" into either of those forms and they were still considered to be the 8th or considering those two and eccleston all to be the 9th (they were all pretty short anyway whee ). that's just all part of theatre magic: overlooking the otherwise obvious.

I dunno. I think they could do better. I think they should convince David to stay for another 2 or 3 seasons after 4. And for the love of all that is Doctor Who. DAVID IS THE 10TH DOCTOR NOT THE 11TH OR 12TH. MAN WHATS WITH ALL OF YOU. any one that is a Advit Doctor who fan know that Chris was the 9th and David is the 10th. it is really getting anoying seeing all these conversations about that.

'kay, deep breath buddy. smile
yes. by this point, it's been straightened out (at least here). i was just explaining where the confusion could come from.
and, it's the super geeks that would be confused, considering that it's very likely that no one but the super fans would even know about those two other performances. so don't assume that "good" fans would know better. they're the one's that are most likely to be confused.
i accept david as 10. to be honest, i didn't even know about the other "9th" doctors until recently. david is and should be 10, even if for no other reason than the fact keeps the series running longer. for that reason alone, i doubt any fan would argue too strongly otherwise.
so don't freak out. no one's going to end the series prematurely based on those two performances. breath and smile. wink

Has the Doctor not-so-recently developed some sort of grievous aversion to the Home Counties? Seven was Scottish. Eight was Scouse. Nine was Northern. Tennant was Scottish, even though Ten was sort of nonspecific with Scottish tendencies. Now an Irishman? Seems a bit odd to me...
And, yes, Tennant is Ten. There's a couple random Doctors out there who aren't canon.
I'd hate for Tennant to leave! He's just so... I don't know. He's awesome. I don't want him to leave yet. It seems almost like he only just started. Plus, even though I'm convinced they're not going to stick to some arbitrary rule about there'll be only thirteen, it's still... scary.

The First Doctor lasted for three (and the beginning of a fourth) season, the Second, Fifth, and Seventh (not including the start of the movie) Doctors were there for three seasons each, the Third Doctor had five seasons, the Fourth Doctor (longest run) had seven seasons, and the Sixth Doctor had the last story of the Fifth Doctor's third season and two seasons of his own. I don't think three seasons/series isn't a bad run. Eccleston definitely went quickly with that one series. And I'm just starting to wonder what they'll do after the Thirteenth Doctor, but I'm thinking that shouldn't come about for years. *crosses fingers*
