Ya, sorry for not being active. Schools been murder. Well I just turned 16 two months ago. Should be driving on my own early next year. I love science and math. I'm one of the smartest in my Algebra II class yet my grade in it's a D due to lack of turning in homework. That's a long story. I love writting but I hate English. That fact has pleged the minds of my friends and it will for all eternity. I'm currently writting 7 books at once, when I get writter's block on one I start another. The one I'm working on right now is call Chronicles of Darkness. I'll probably make a thread about it later. I'm also writting a book chain called Huminoid Chroncles, I'll probably make a thread about that one too. I've mainly been working on my poetry. I got about 4 or 5 good ones, my other are called "boredom poems" because I wrote souly because I was bored. ya, that's about it.

I'm in Honors Algebra II. You should like English, because it teaches you the basic skills that are needed for writing. You really need to brush up on your spelling and grammar. Why don't you like English, anyways? Maybe you're not being challenged enough? I'm in AP11 English, even though I'm a sophomore. I'm the first person in the history of the school to ever do that. I have one of the highest grades in the class. I like it a lot because I'm challenged and pushed to do my very best. Motivation is good biggrin

Hi. My real name is Holly, I am 19 years old. I live in Ontario, Canada with my boyfriend, two cats and two fish. I'm a first year in Georgian College, making honours. I aced Gr. 12 Writer's Craft (creative writing) and have had 4 poems published in different literary magazines and anthologies. I'm really quite easy to get along with, unless you push my buttons. (Natural redhead- quite feisty.) I like the simple things in life, and poetry (not just mine) intrigues me. I dislike hyprocrites, politicians and people who look/speak down to others...and spiders. Hate spiders. sweatdrop

Dont' worry Draco: I hated english, too. (almost failed- i think I handed MAYBE 3 things in) They take beautiful literary works (ie- Shakespeare's plays) and tear them apart with their fancy literary terms. Some things were made simply to be appreciated, not analyzed. If I were a pro writer, I'd poke the first person who analyzed my work in the eye. Hyperbole my foot. biggrin

Well, what I do to avoid getting pissed off at the teachers and so I can enjoy English class, is that I read the writing piece through without overanalyzing anything. After that, I do all that stuff that English teachers make you do. The first time lets you have a good idea what the piece is like, and as Kollege Kitty said, you can appreciate just the writing for itself. The second time around, you can look deeper into the piece. A lot of times when I read books the second time to analyze, I find themes and stuff that are really interesting and contribute to the enjoyment of the piece. I don't think that you're supposed to "tear apart" literature, but you do analyze it to better understand it and to enjoy it fully. Doing that also lets you see how the writer writes, what makes the piece so special, and etc. Well, that's my argument. xd

Some people don't need to analyze the life out of something in order to appreciate it. I guess those are the ones we would call "artists".

KollegeKitty Some people don't need to analyze the life out of something in order to appreciate it. I guess those are the ones we would call "artists". OK, just last year, I learned how to analyze stuff. I'd never been taught to read like that. I didn't say that you need to analyze everything, but it helps you catch some stuff. I don't know how to say this, but I like seeing the purpose of the writing. I think it's fun. But maybe that's because I've learned to live with school, because I can't escape from it for another six to eight years. It's just a way of coping with life, I guess xd Talking of coping with life, I just write for the sake of writing. I don't say, "oh, I should put a juxtaposition and hyperbole right there." Basically, it just happens. But how do those things just happen if you don't know what they are? How can you make a mistake purposely in music if you don't know that it's a mistake? You can't. I just like seeing how writers insert their feelings using creative, subtle ways, and I always wonder if they did that purposely. Again, I'm not getting to my point, but I hope that you understand what reading and writing does for me. If I didn't have the art of writing and music, I would've died a long time ago.
