While his Keeper listened and nodded along to Keirasti's tour, little Petiole was still shyly peeking out from behind her. Red eyes looked from her, to Cricket, and then back again. Nervously he climbed up onto Mariabella's shoulder again to perch facing the steam elemental. However, that also caused his tail to sway in a balancing act... and smack the young wizard in the face.
"AUGH!" Gloved hands reached up and plucked the squealing dragonet from her shoulder, his claws pulling at the fabric. "Why can't you keep still, Petiole?" She huffed and turned around, placing the little green dragon next to Cricket. "Try and make some friends and you better not cost me this job." She whispered harshly in his ear.
Petiole chirped sadly and stared at Cricket, fidgeting to fly back to his Keeper or to stay next to the foreign dragon.

The older wizard grinned and swaped topics, mid chatter. "Dragons are also allowed to roam free in the store, provided they don't make a nuisance of themselves. The kitchen is off limits though. Too many opportunities for mischief.
"And this is Cricket, my little beastie." She gave the steam dragon an affectionate scratch. "He likes to nap in the back, but feel free to shoo him back inside, should he pose an inconvenience to your work." Keirasti fumbled in a pocket and produced a small drawstring pouch, which she placed on the table near the two dragons. "Make sure to share," she told Cricket, before continuing on her little tour.
Cricket snorted as his master turned her back on him, a small puff of steam accompanying the sound. He knew his manners. And this would be a perfect way to break the ice. Nothing said "Let's be friends" like a peace offering. Nimbly, he jumped to the table and grabbed a drawstring in his teeth. With a practiced motion, he tugged the pouch open and stuffed his head inside. When he immerged, it was with a small chunk of dried fruit, which he then placed on the table.
Nudging it toward Petiole with a nose, the white and green dragon made encouraging chirruping noises, before returning to the bag and selecting a piece for himself.

As Mariabella turned back to chatter, Petiole sniffed at the air and leaned closer to the pouch. He hadn't eaten anything since he had hatched... which had only been a couple of days, but it was still a rather long time for a baby dragon. His stomach growled as the dried piece of fruit was set on display right for him, and then not even the shy green dragonet needed coaxing.
He leaped from the chair and onto the table, snatching the dried fruit up in his mouth and devouring it in only a few seconds.

Thoroughly encouraged by this behavior, Cricket happily munched on his bit of fruit. Finishing it, he made an inquiring creel at Petiole. There was plenty more where that came from, if the younger dragon was still hungry. He snagged a second piece for himself and nibbled on that one as well, making clear the invitation that there was more if he wanted it.
Maybe after the edge was taken off his hunger, the other dragon would be in the mood for play. It had been so long since Cricket had some one to play a quick game of tag around the tables with.

Once the first dried piece of fruit was devoured, Petiole watched as the older dragon grabbed another out of the bag. For a moment he watched him eat it until slowly inching forward and peeking into the bag, grabbing another with his little jaws and then sitting back to enjoy it.
He took his time with this one, the hunger he felt slowly being satisfied. He was still rather tiny, so after finishing his second and then working on his third, his hunger was mostly sedated.
The little green dragon licked his snout and let out a happy little chirp. For the first time he wasn't hungry anymore!

As he had access to frequent meals on a somewhat irregular schedule, Cricket was much more sedate in eating his morsel of fruit. He waited patiently, twisting about and groom his whiskers- and not seem bored as he did so. When the other dragon finished, he bounced forward, with a chirp, but still careful to keep his distance. It wasn't that long ago when Petiole had been almost painfully shy of him, after all.
Still, he was very eager to have a playmate and he couldn't help but tremble with excitement. He bounced again, a little closer and made an inquiring little trill at the younger. Was it a good time for play now?

Petiole jumped a little as Cricket got closer, but the offering of food had certainly made the dragon more appealing to the shy male. He hesitated for only a moment before he chirped back, smiling oddly with his snout. The little green and white dragon stood up and bobbed his head, acknowledging that Cricket wanted to play.

Cricket trilled with excitement. He hadn't had a good romp in such a long time! For a moment he was serenely still. Then he pounced forward, to nudge the smaller dragon with his snout. He skipped away a few steps, then looked back over his shoulder, with an expectant flick of his tail. The message was clear: catch me if you can!

Petiole blinked and stared at Cricket as he pranced away. Quickly he realized that the invitation was for a good game of tag! The tiny green dragon shrilled and bounded after the older dragon, leaping over the bag of dried fruit and tucking his large wings to his side so he could run as fast as he could after him.

Knocking things off the tables tended to annoy his master, so Cricket's next move was to bounce to a nearby chair. From there he jumped to the floor, claws clicking on the tile, as he aimed for an open patch of floor, away from the tables and chairs. This wasn't hide and seek, after all. This was about speed.
He did cast a nervous look over his shoulder, to be sure Petiole was following.

Petiole followed, bounding off the table and onto the chair. His wings flickered about to help him keep balance and soon enough he was jumping off and onto the floor. The tiles weren't the best for traction and so far in his short life he hadn't he had yet to come across them. Mariabella's tiny apartment was all wood and outside was packed dirt.
Once his claws touched down on the tile he slipped and fell sprawled on his belly with a startled chirp. But that wouldn't keep him from continuing their game. He stood up slowly and then tried to chase after him, slipping a few more times.

Cricket chirped in amusement. He remember his first encounter with tile in all of slick slidingness. He slowed a bit, to allow Petiole time to recover, then dashed off again into the midst of the open floor.
He pounced from tile to tile, careful not to step on any of the cracks between them. It was easier than trying to keep up traction during a full out sprint, even if it did sacrifice speed. And it was more of a challenge to keep ahead of his pursuer this way. All the more fun.
