Well. It seems like DB was right when she said that the items were special.
According to the disk (and I'm still having trouble believing that it spoke to me), its name is Lexington. He can't quite speak very well at the moment - just starting to form complete sentences. But oh, is he curious! He didn't stop asking questions from the moment he first started talking. Unfortunately, I couldn't answer many of his questions, seeing as I didn't even know the answers myself. I still can't believe that he's real.
"He's real, alright," Morgan tells me. "No figment of imagination could ever ask so many questions."
He wants to know everything. Only Epona is patient enough to answer all his questions. She seems quite fond of him, actually.

I'm still trying to figure out what he is and where he came from. Lexington has no memory of a past, although he says he has 'people pictures' - by this I assume he means images of people from his past?
I'm resolved to go back to that castle tomorrow. Hopefully then I'll be able to solve this mystery...

of pale-haired girls and talking swords

Riannon awoke suddenly. She was still under the tree, and her books were strewn everywhere. Lexington was nowhere to be seen, of course.
"I suppose I'd better go and find him," she said.

Lexington had dozed off as well, but now he was happily floating through the countryside, keeping an eye out to see if he could find anyone else. it wasn't too long before he found that he was next to a fairly large castle. Curiosity awakened again, he found an open window and floated in, hoping to meet someone there.

"Ah, I don't believe we've met... I'm MacBeth ... it's... a.. plea..sure..." MacBeth nodded off and soon started snoring-- HE WAS ASLEEP WHILE STANDING UP! eek

Kida looked at the small thing. "What on earth are you?"

Lexington almost jumped when he realised the sword that he thought was inamimate was actually talking to him!
He was about to reply, when he noticed the sword had fallen alseep ( biggrin )
"Macbeth.." he mused. "I'm sure I know him from somewhere..."

He jumped again at the tall pale-haired girl who seemed to come out of nowhere. "I'm Lexington," he said proudly.

Kida smiled at it. "Lexington, hm? That's an interesting name. I'm Kida." She looks at the sleeping sword. "Ah, well...he's had a long day."

Lexington looked interestingly at her, trying the name on for size. "Kida. Nice to meet you." He looked at the sleeping sword again. "Did lots happen here, then?" Lex sighs. "I always miss out on the good things."

Kida laughs. "Well, you did miss quite a bit, but...I'm not sure if it would have been good for you to be around. You look quite breakable." She considered for a moment about how offened she got when people underestimated her because she was a girl. "But then, what do I know?"

Lexington nodded. "Mother is always telling me to be careful." He sighs. "I wish I would grow up quick, though. It's not fun having no body."

Kida smiles at Lexington. "A common lament amoungst the items."
She suddenly leans against the wall, and holds her side.
"Oh!"

Lex looked concerned. "Are you alright?"

Kida continued to lean against the wall, and looked down at the side she was clutching.
"Oh...that must have happened when..." she winces again. "That dog gargoyle clawed me."

"Gargoyle?" Several images flashed through his mind...for some reason Lex felt that the name was familiar...

Kida nods. "Strange creatures. I'm not sure if they mean us harm yet. They flew off as the sun started to rise."
She slumped down on the floor and let her hand go. There was a little blood on her hand, from the cut. It wasn't bleeding much, just mostly hurt.

"Are they scared of sunlight or something?" he laughed.
He peered at the cut. "You might want to put something on that...I suppose that's one thing about not having a body - not getting cut."

Kida nods and goes back to applying pressure to it.
"I'll be fine."

Kida walked slowly back to the room she and Jack had stayed in the night before and flopped down on it, and pulled the covers up around her. After a bit, she fell fast asleep.

hot summer days...

It began as a very ordinary summer day, just like any other, and the inhabitants of the Hall were taking it nice and easy. Riannon was dozing in the hammock, still recovering after her exams (both legal and magical). Epona was cropping the grass in a very absurdly horsey way, and Morgan was lazing on the back porch, drinking lemonade and tossing a cricket ball. "Here, catch!" she said to no-one in particular as she threw it.
"I'll get it!" said Lexington, floating over to where the ball had landed. "Wait...I don't have any hands to pick it up, do I?"
Morgan chuckled. "Just tell me where it landed, and I'll go pick it up."

It was pretty well hidden amongst the vegetables, but after much poking around Lexington soon managed to find it. It was actually quite fun, looking for it - although it made him wish all the more that he had a proper body. "It's over here, Auntie Morgan. Right in amongst the tomatoes."
"Oh, I'd better be careful then," said Morgan as she headed over. "Those took an awful long time to grow, and the last thing I want is for them to get damaged." She chuckled. "Or to pick a tomato by mistake." As her hands closed around the ball, there was a sudden flash of light which threw them both backwards.

"Morgan! Lex!" Riannon hurried over to the pair who were sprawled out on the lawn. "What on earth was that? Are you both okay?"
"Just a massive headache," groaned Lex, shaking himself, and floating upwards again.
"I'm fine," said Morgan, "just curious as to what happened." She looked at the cricket ball in her hand. "It's not magic, is it?"
"Not magic from the ball," said Epona, "but there was strong magic used in this area."
"I can sense the residue," said Riannon. "Looks like it was some sort of...portal spell, from the looks of things."
"Portal spell?" exclaimed Morgan. "From where?"
Riannon tried to concentrate. "I can't tell, although it seems to be from far away. The residue is too weak for me to trace the origin, though."
"And a very powerful mage cast it," said Epona.
"But what was the purpose?" said Morgan. "I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but portal spells are to transport someone from one place to another, right?"
"Correct," said Riannon.
"But there doesn't seem to be anything at this end. Unless we should turn around to find a powerful mage standing in the doorway." She paused. "I wish I didn't say that."

Then came the unmistakeable sound of a baby's cry.
"What the.." said Riannon, but she hurried over to where the sound was coming from.
There, sitting amongst the tomatoes, not far from where the ball had landed, was a baby boy. A very loud, wailing, baby boy.
"Oh."
"There you have it," said Epona. "Your mage."
"But he didn't cast the spell, obviously," said Riannon, frowning. "Someone must have wanted to send him away."
"That's terrible, abandoning him like that," said Morgan.
"Let's not jump to conclusions here," said Epona. "They might have sent him away because he might have been in trouble. Wherever he was from."
"So what do we do with him?" asked Morgan, eyeing the baby nervously.
"I guess there is no other alternative," said Riannon. She reached over and picked him up. Strangely enough, he stopped crying. Riannon gazed into his eyes. Those strange pale grey eyes. "He stays here."
"As long as you look after him," said Morgan. "At least he seems to like you, anyway," said Epona, sniffing at the baby.
"He seems alright," said Lex, "for a baby, that is . What are you going to call him?"
"I don't know," Riannon said. "Anyway, for all we know he might already be named." She gazed at the baby again, looking into those strange eyes. "Gwydion."
"What?" said Morgan, startled.
"His name is Gwydion."
"That's a...unusual...name."
"It popped into my head just then. Seemed right for him."
"Prehaps that was his name in the other world?" pondered Epona."At any rate, it is strangely appropriate, I think."
"Maybe.." she mused. Then, as if on cue, he started crying. Riannon grimaced and headed inside. It was going to be a very interesting experience, for sure...

let it snow

"Mum..."
Riannon moaned and turned over. "Lex, if that's you, please go away and let me sleep."
"But Mum...it's Christmas! You have to get up."
Riannon lazily opened one eye to see Lex bouncing up and down on her quilt. Morgan and Epona were lounging in the doorway, grinning. Gwyn - thankfully - was still asleep in his crib.
"Is this a conspiracy or what?" she said, wagging her finger at everybody. "All right, all right, I'm getting up."
"Yay!" exclaimed Lex.
"I think you might want to look outside, mortal," said Epona.
"What for?" said Riannon as she headed across to open the curtains. "it's just going to be like any other..Oh. My."
The scene outside looked as if it had been taken from a Christmas card. Everything was covered with a thick layer of glistening snow.
"Wow." For a moment, everybody stood there speechless. Lex was the first to recover, zooming out the open window. A minute later, he could be seen playing in the snow.

"Gotcha!"
"Hey...Mum, that?s tickles! Stop it!" Lexington giggled.
Riannon smiled at him. "So, what do you think of your first Christmas?"
"Fantastic! And the snow is everything Lady V said it would be...and more."
"Who?"
"Lady V. Don?t you remember her? She had this fish in a bowl called Gill and..." he trailed off. "Oh. Whoops."
"Don't tell me you've been going off to the castle by yourself."
"Er?maybe?"
"Lex..." Riannon shook her head. "How many times have I told you..."
"Not to go wandering off on my own. I know, I know. But if I waited for you to take me, I'd never meet anyone."
She sighed. "I'm sorry Lex."
"You should come with me when I go, Mum. There's lots of interesting people to meet there."
"Maybe I will. And if you're going to go wandering off by yourself in future..."
"Yes?"
"At least tell me where you?re going."
"Yes!" Lex bounced on her shoulder.

"Now then," said Riannon, "I have a little surprise for you."
"For me?"
"Of course! You can't have Christmas without presents, after all."
"You can't?" Lexington grinned. This 'Christmas' thing just kept getting better and better. "What is it?"
"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise now, would it?"
"Mum?"
"Alright." Riannon grinned, and whistled. Nothing. She whistled again. Nothing.
"Are you giving me a whistle for Christmas?"
"No, Lex. That silly present of yours is misbehaving."
Lex looked very perplexed, but he watched as Riannon whistled again. This time, a very strange creature bounded out from behind the bushes.



"Et voila, your present," said Riannon, grabbing the creature. "Merry Christmas."
"For me?" Lex exclaimed. "What is it?"
"It's a pooka, and a very mischevious one at that. Unfortunately, the others didn't really take a liking to it, so I thought perhaps you might want it."
Lex floated up to meet the squirming pooka. "I've always wanted a pet," he said. "Does it have a name?"
"Not yet. I thought you might like to name it."
He thought for a moment. "Mischief."
The pooka squirmed out of Riannon?s arms. "Mischief!" he called. "Come here, boy!" Strangely enough, the pooka stopped and bounded towards Lex.
"He likes you," said Riannon - hoping that she had made the right decision. Together, those two could get into twice as much trouble as they did apart.

Lexington giggled as the pooka proceeded to lick him. "Stop it, you silly boy - you'll get my circuits all wet." He peered at Mischief. "Come on boy, let's go play in the snow." He floated off, the pooka running after him.

back to the castle

"Come on, mum! if we don't hurry up, we might not see anyone!"
Riannon sighed, as she was half-dragged by a very excited Lexington into the castle. "I don't think they're going to go away in a hurry, Lex. Now, could you please let go of my scarf?"

They skittered to a halt in the castle hall.
"Hello?" Lex called out. "Anyone here?"

Belle suddenly called out. "Two of us are down here!!" She hoped whomever was talking could hear her.

-Her ears twitched again softly at the sound, and she mused silently over her and the magiwolf's conversation before. Just as they'd said, it was either noone, or everyone. She called lightly down the hallway to the mysterous voice.- "Good evening"

Lexington grinned. "You see, I told you there would be people here. Come on!" And he headed toward where the others were.

Riannon sighed and followed. Well, she did promise him....

Belle climbed up next to Duchess. "Your still a pretty kitty cat. I like the snow. It's raither lovely. I like to walk in it when its coming down." She smiled up at Duchess. "Do you know the owner of that voice?"

-She nodded in soft agreement with the statements, before pausing to think for a moment.- "It sounds familar.. but I can't place it.. maybe someone I've only met once or twice? There are quite a few of those I'm afraid.. Ariel, Arthur, Lexington.. maybe a few others."

Belle watched the door. "Well maybe they will come in here. I want to meet more people."

Lexington scanned the room. Most of the people he hadn't seen before - Duchess was the only one he vaguely remembered.

He walked up to where she was. "Hello, there. Remember me?"

"Oh, it is Lex." -Waving gently to the young disk, she looked to Belle.- "Me and my sister met him for a short time once. He's very nice."

Belle smiled. "Ohh alright!! Nice to meet you Lex." She stopped then looked at Duchess. "You have a sister?"

He floated closer to the two girls. "Hello! And you are?" he asked, 'head' cocked to one side.

Belle smiled at the disk. "I'm Belle. Nice to meet you."

Belle..." he mused. "You know, I think I've met a friend of yours."

"Mhmm, a little fox named Marion. She's such a sweetie.. a little tomboyish... but I think you'd like her. She loves to play games."

Belle smiled. "Do you really? Who is it?" Then she looked at Duchess. "I would very much like to meet her!!"

"It was a while ago, when the castle went..elsewhere. I think his name was..Beast? Is that right?"

((Duchess had to leave at this point))

Belle smiled happily. "You mean Phillip!! He's very very nice. Thou please don't call him Beast. It's such an ugly name for him. He's a big fluffy teddy bear not a mean monster."

"That's the name he called himself. But his real name is Phillip? I definitely like that better than Beast."

Lex nodded. "I know. When we met, he seemed to think he was scary, but I thought he was quite nice. He said you guys used to play alot together."

Belle smiled softly. "He's a very dear friend of mine. I hold him close to my heart. He was scared of what I would think of him now that he was transformed. But I really don't care just as long as hes still my friend. Hey would you like to be my friend also?"

"I thought so. He seemed very fond of you."

Lex looked surprised, then nodded. "Sure! I'd love to be your friend."

Belle smiled even more. "He's a wonderful friend. Are you friends with him also? I really like being peoples friend. I want to know as many people as I can. I also want to know as much as I can about the world. So I have read alot of books!!"

Riannon glanced at her watch. As much as she didn't want to break the pair up, they really had to get going....

"Lex? I'm sorry, but we really have to go now."

"Already?" Lex turned to Belle and sighed. "It's my mum. I have to go now, but it was nice talking to you. Prehaps we can play together some other time?"

Waving goodbye, he bounced happily out the hall and into the sunlight.

Fragment #1 : Lex, Mozenrath & Puck

Lexington was bored. He floated into the castle hall, hoping to find someone to talk to. Otherwise, he really would be turning into a hermit....

Mozenrath floated around boredly, he had put Puck down to rest for abit after his runin/collision with Aladdin and still seemed dizy to him. He paused as he noticed the floating disk, "What the...? Another one? Or am I just crazy?"

"If you're crazy, then I must be as well," Lex commented. He moved up to the gauntlet. "The name's Lexington. And you are?"

Puck lay against the wall as he watched Mozenrath make blurry paths. Man, motion sickness was not something he was used to. Fey were not used to such things, flying at such high speeds.
It just... took a while to get used to.

"What are you talking to, oh dear big brother?" Puck grinned, almost getting his double vision to one.

"I am Mozenrath" Moze commented before turning back to Puck, "I see you're starting to feel better. Um... what am I talking to... err..." he paused, not knowing exactly what Lex was called, since Shaille didn't have a computer at home. "I'm not quite sure"

((Lex leaves for some time, then returns later))

Lex had popped out for a bit, but when he got back he noticed that Mozenrath had acquired a new companion. "Hello!" he exclaimed cheerfully. "Friend of his, are you? My name's Lexington."

Puck turned about, looking at the disk. Hmmm. Fumei had informed him of its uses. "Hmmm. Did you escape from Fumei's computer? She'll bad mad you know, Lex."

Lex grinned. "That's what my guardian keeps saying. But as far as I know, no. I think my guardian picked me up in some shop on Halloween or something like that."

Puck rolled about. "Oh, so you're not from Fumei's computer. Never mind. You're not magical at all. Hmmm..."

Not magical at all.

"So when are you gonna pop out?"

"No..." Lex shakes his head sadly. "I'm not magic. I wish I was, though. Being able to do magic sounds like alot of fun."

"Of course being magical is fun!" Puck exclaimed, kicking out a stream of glitter. "But it doesn't do much when you have no one to show." Puck said, bumping into Lexington purposefully.

Fragment #2 : Lex & Marian

Lexington floated into the castle. As usual. he was looking for someone to talk to. And, as usual, Riannon wasn't accompanying him. But that suited Lex just fine...

Marion shuffled through the seemingly empty castle with a soft sigh. Maybe Terra was right, and she needed to play around Traverse where the children were... not here.. in the dead still of all that was grown up and boring.

Almost falling into the dispair of the moment she gave her vulpine ears a little flick of determination. She wouldn't give up yet, there had to be SOMEONE here to play with! Calling out lightly, she continued through the halls, pretending she was playing a game of hide and seek.- "Hellllllooo? Come out, come out where ever you are!"

Lex was poking about in one of the rooms, when he heard the voice calling. He thought it sounded familar, but he wasn't too sure. So, being the curious thing that he was, he darted out.
"Hello out there, wherever you are!"

Someone! Her ears twitched and swivelled softly to face the direction of the male voice and she happily began to make her way towards it, calling out lightly, playfully.- "Hiding well are we?"

Lex quickly found the owner of the voice - although she hadn't seemed to find him yet. Feeling mischevious for some reason, he snuck up behind her. "Boo."

-The kit jumped slightly with the start, scolding herself inwardly as she turned. Her glare however died as it settled upon.. a disk? THE disk! She remembered him.

Sticking her tongue out a little, in pay back of his sneaking up, she finally grinned happily.- "Lex! Hi! I haven't seen you in forever and ever. You're still in your disk?"

Lex grinned. Ah, now he remembered her. Marian, wasn't it? "It's been a while, hasn't it? But yeah, I'm still stuck in the disk. I can't wait until the day when I finally come out." He paused for a moment. "So, what's been happening with you?"

Nodding a little she reached out a hand softly, as if trying to touch him curiously. It really had been a long time.. why hadn't he grown like the others?- "Maybe you're special? Special things take longer to grow and stuff.. the biggest nicest flowers in my moms garden as take the longest to grow and bloom."

"With me though? I've been playing lots of games, and learning to shoot my bow and arrow! And umm.. I've met a few other children. Mostly I just play though, by myself and with my sister."

"Maybe..." he pondered this. "Not that I mind, really, I don't. Once I get out, I probably won't be able to fly. That's the best thing about this form."

-Giggling a little softly, she smiled, tail and bottom swishing to and fro.- "Ohhhhh... I don't know.. when you grow you just might have to meet Freakazoid. He taught me how to fly."

If the disk had eyes they might have popped out of his head at the point. "You can fly! Wow." He grinned. "I guess that's worth wanting to grow up for. I have to meet this Freakazoid..whoever he is."
