Though Anthony glanced towards the spectators for a moment, he couldn't have said anything better than Dylan had. Besides, it was crunch time. Psyduck-Golbat; first round. He knew he had to take the Water-type out first, since it would pose a problem to Dylan's Cubone.
"All right Alpha! Follow Dylan's attack with a Slash attack!" Anthony commanded. As the Wild Duck sped across the grass towards the Psyduck, his right wing held the onion sprig like a samurai's sword, low to the ground with its tip barely skimming the grass's blades. He stayed behind the Cubone until just before the Bone Club's attack, where he quickly circled the Psyduck just in time to attempt a cut across the yellow duck's flank with his 'sword.'
Though Anthony and Dylan never gave it a name, they trained these two Pokemon specifically to perform these 'pincer' attacks whenever there was an opening. It always added a bit of hope when they were in tough beginning scenarios such as this. ((Man! I want the top of 200 so so bad!!!))

Kasiya could only grin at the two spectator's comments, but said nothing. She glanced at Keegan, sensing his worry, and winked at him as if to say 'don't worry.' Now that all four Pokemon had entered the battlefield, she knew Anthony and Dylan would make the first moves, and they did. As the two opposing Pokemon closed in on Althena, Kasiya frowned slightly, thinking of a plan to counter their tactic. I can't let them double-team her like that, she thought, feeling pretty sure that if she could keep the Farfetch'd away from the Psyduck, she'd be able to handle the Cubone on her own. "Stop the Farfetch'd, Fang! Get in front of Althena and use your Poison Fang attack!" she called out quickly, her voice calm yet authoritative. She was certain Fang could handle taking the hit for Althena.
The Crobat was easily twice as fast as any of the other Pokemon on the field, and he instantly complied with his trainer's commands, whipping his four wings in the air and gaining speed and a bit of altitude rather quickly. This allowed him to dive down and put himself between the two duck Pokemon, just in time for the leek 'sword' to lash out and give him a cut across the belly. Fang didn't flinch or cry out; he only narrowed his yellow eyes into menacing slits and thrust his head forward, a highly toxic venom dripping from his fangs as he prepared to sink them into the attacker's soft abdomen.

Keegan paid no attention to the two boys watching from the sidelines, and just waited for them to lead off with their attacks. It wasn't surprising to see them both strike out against Althena, and the Psyduck didn't even really seem to know what was going on, even as Fang swooped down behind her to take one of the hits. "Brace yourself, then counter with Water Pulse while it's right there!" Keegan shouted, knowing there was no way Althena could dodge the Cubone's oncoming attack.
"Psy?" Althena questioned, a puzzled look on her face as the skull-clad Pokemon brought his weapon down hard, landing a solid blow to the top of her head. The impact knocked her onto her bottom, and she held her head in her hands, looking up at her attacker quizzically. Her round eyes narrowed then, and a pinkish glow began to emanate first from her pupils, then her whole eyes in general. She pulled herself to her feet, and stood up to her full height, only a few meager inches taller than the Cubone. The pinkish glow quickly spread to the rest of her body, and intensified until it was too bright to look at directly. Within the bright light, the Psyduck's form began to warp and shift. Her pudgy arms and legs grew long, lean and slender, and sharp claws protruded from the tips of her now-webbed fingers and webbed toes, which where ideal for swimming. Her beak became a bit pointed and less broad, while the shape of her head changed as well, with the top of her head becoming pointed, much like a trident or a crown. Her wide, usually vapid eyes became a bit smaller, but more focused, with the pupils changing to a dark red. As the light began to fade away, and before disappearing entirely, her plushy, yellow feathers changed to a watery blue, and a red gem stood out prominently in the center of her forehead, glittering like an amazing undersea treasure. All in all, the Pokemon had more than doubled in height, and now stood only slightly shorter than her trainer, who was staring in complete awe.
The newly evolved Golduck stared down at the Cubone, flexing her long, clawed fingers tentatively. The jewel on her forehead began to shine as she opened her mouth, and a pulsating jet of water was blasted down at the Cubone before her.

Dylan didn't see the evolution coming. But now they would have an even more challenging battle on their hands. It was a bit soon but now seemed like the perfect time to pull out the secret weapon moves. Mainly Tutor and TM moves (and thank goodness for those moves!). But this attack wasn't going to be blocked by any such moves. Cubone was sent back several feet by the volume of water pushed that pushed him off balance.
Faltering for a moment, he recovered and was ready to go though the water had stung. "Nice recovery, Skellington! So let's strike back with Thunderpunch!" Dylan directed. Skellington charged at his big blue enemy as electricity began to build up on the Thick Club he was carrying.

The Crobat's speed was much faster than Alpha had expected. As quickly as he could, the Farfetch'd brought his onion sprig back to counter-shove at the Golbat's face, but he couldn't keep its fangs from digging in. Fearing the following venom, he pried the bat away with his 'sword' like a crowbar, leaping backwards just in time. The bite had done its damage, but the poison hadn't entered.
Anthony was impressed by the girl's tactics, as well as the boy's timely Golduck evolution. This was really getting good. He could feel his heart beginning to race and knew that this battle was really under way. He came to respect his opponents as equals, giving Kasiya a look of competitive satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Alpha was feeling much the same. He hadn't had a flying-type duel for a long time, and who better to face than this speedster. Pure determination spread through his psyche, and again he brought his 'sword' to his side, ready for the next command.
"Again, Slash! Cut deeper than you did before!" Anthony called.
Alpha took Anthony's words seriously, focusing on the belly-scratch he created before. He needed to strike quicker, and much stronger. With one quick push from the ground, the Farfetch'd was in the air, flying away to gain some altitude. Then, after a sharp bank, he dove towards the bat, cutting through the air as he aimed his aerial Slash attack. He'd extend the sprig from his wing at the last second, cutting as deep as he could as soon as they passed each other.

Seeing no change in the duck's composure after landing the attack, Fang knew the venom hadn't taken effect, mainly because the Farfetch'd had managed to pry him away perhaps a bit too soon. That wouldn't get to him, though; and he used his quartet of wings to push him away from the Farfetch'd for the time being.
"Good job, Fang!" Kasiya called out, able to see now that the Farfetch'd had its attention focused on Fang instead of Althena. Things had been happening so fast she'd barely been able to see the evolution, just the end result afterwards. She looked over at Keegan for a split second, wanting to throw her arms around him and congratulate him on Althena's progress, but she knew that now wasn't the time. "Althena's a Golduck now," she told him, not sure if he knew what exactly the new Pokemon's species was. "Go get 'em!" she winked, before turning back to the battle.
Anthony certainly looked as though his attitude had changed since the battle's start, even though they'd only just begun. She could see that he was already enjoying this, and she was too; after all, fast-paced battles like these always got her adrenalin rushing. Anthony gave the order for another Slash, and even though she couldn't read either her opponent nor his Pokemon's minds, she knew by the way the Farfetch'd had positioned himself in the air that he was going to try and rend the same spot yet again. At the same time, she was impressed that a grassy weapon like that could do such damage, but another thought crossed her mind at the same moment.
"Brace yourself, and then counter with Wing Attack! Use his momentum against him to knock away that leek!" she called out, watching her Pokemon carefully. Fang forced the two lower wings to flap a little faster, causing his body to turn just as the sprig-sword once again slashed against his body. The second cut ran parallel to the first, but deeper than before, and Fang grit his teeth together, trying to ignore the stinging pain as he prepared his counterstrike. Keeping three wings moving, he used the fourth to lash out quickly, aiming for the wing that held the leek sword. With the 'weapon' out at such an angle, it would be difficult to defend against the quick attempt to disarm his foe.

The light from the sun faded into a dull shadow, only showing a few rays as though it were swords piercing skin. The treetops were high, thus the shortage of light. The earthy, grassy terrain was a good cushion to anyone's feet as Myuko began to trug along the small maze that was carved with tall grass on the sides, as if they were frnces guiding the trainer in the right direction. Grimm had been going in front of Myuko now; its head bobbing back and forth as if scanning the grasses and the ttrees for any pokemon that might spring up and suddenly attack. Grimm could not wait any longer; he started gliding faster to get ahead of Myuko.
"Hey, Grimm! Where are you going? SLOW DOWN!" Myuko said as he quickened his step to try to catch up to the pokemon that had already turned a corner in the maze that was the Petalburg Woods.

Ky and Natu's act was so flawless that even M.A. couldn't tell they were bluffing (she hadn't noticed that Little Guy was awake at all, he'd been very discreet), although the worry in Ky's voice did sound rather. . . strange, as if a bit misplaced from what she knew of her friend. Well, it wasn't like she had an hour to analyze this all and write an essay on it or anything, and so she thought little of it; right now, she was more wrapped up in the battle. The girl was a bit concerned now; if Little Guy was sleeping, this was a two-on-one battle, and after that nasty Acid attack. . .
After that Acid attack Ulani was downright outraged. Her lovely white feathers tarnished by this disgusting goop that refused to come off! It had hurt, too, and by making her usually light-as-air wings coated with grease, she found it more difficult to fly than before. BUT MOSTLY, SHE WAS FILTHY. And that was absolutely taboo in her book.
Outraged, the little blue bird once again dove towards the Gloom with a far more aggressive Peck, passionate fury burning in her eyes. How dare it get her so dirty!
Meanwhile, the Wooper twin saw that he couldn't let his Pokemon just continually take the attacks for Gloom (his defense wasn't quite great enough in this case) and besides that, it wouldn't be quicker than Ulani. "Well, let's help clean that bird off, then! Water Gun!"

Keegan had to admit it; these kids seemed to know what they were doing so far. It was good to find experienced trainers, even if their methods of initiating battles was a bit unorthodox. Golduck, he thought, barely hearing Kasiya's voice over the sound of the battle, and he smiled. Althena's all grown up now, he thought, a wistful smile spreading across his face.
Althena, a lot quicker on her feet now that her legs were long and lean, took a step back, at the same time bringing her arms in font of her to form an X-shape. Her eyes were fixed on the electricity crackling from the bone in the small Pokemon's hands, and as he swung it towards her, she lowered her position so the attack struck her arms. The electricity stung, and she grunted from the attack, realizing that the feeling in her arms had all but gone away. The two limbs were somewhat paralyzed, and even though she could still move them, they weren't nearly as responsive as before, and she knew that any of her claw attacks would be useless for now. However, she admired the Cubone's spunk.
Keegan had been worried about the electric attack being too much for Althena to take, but seeing her still standing and raring to go was a relief. He glanced up at the airborne fight between Fang and the Farfetch'd, although he really could only make out tawny and green blurs above them. Focusing back on his place in the battle, he quickly decided on the next order to issue for battle. "Surf attack!" he shouted, once again glancing up. Fang and Alpha would be too high up to be affected, but it would be next to impossible for the little Cubone to escape such a high volume of water, especially since it had just attacked a second ago.
Althena raised a clawed, webbed foot from the ground and brought it down firmly, causing the ground around them to rumble. Directly in front of her, a wall of water rose up then cascaded downward, ready to drench the entire battlefield in a tsunami of cold blue waves.

Despite Ulani's passion-driven speed, a small red beam beat her to the chase, enveloping the Gloom and returning it to its trainer's hand-held Pokeball. The twin's face was surprisingly emotionless, though it was hard for him to hide his disappointment. He silently wished his brother had defended with the Wooper again, but he knew it was only a matter of time before his Gloom was finished off, whether it be from the birds, or eventually the burn. Nevertheless, he kept a shred of hope to cheer on his brother. As long as that one bird stayed asleep, they probably still had a chance.
Unfortunately for him, Little Guy was far from asleep. "Little Guy, Night Shade!" Ky shouted suddenly.
Ky's voice rang like an alarm clock, sending Little Guy to spring straight from his resting spot towards the unsuspecting Wooper. The tiny bird's body looked like a black fireball as he flew through the air, up until he released the Ghost energy like a dark stream into the Water-Pokemon's body. Little Guy then opened his wings and glided around the battlefield as if sleep never took him moments before.
The twin simply looked on in shock, feeling his hope fade away. "It's over," he thought with a frown.

Grimm was wandering aimlessly around the trees way in front of Myuko, as if searching for something. The ghost pokemon was ducking and dodging the rays of light petruding from the trees as though they actually were swords that would have chopped him to pieces as he turned the corner of a group of trees. There he stopped as he saw the winged beauty that was a butterfree. Grimm ducked behind a corner as he watched a small torchic go to the side of the pokemon almost 5 times its size.
Meanwhile, a little ways away, Myuko was following the path in a very slow jog as he tried to catch up to his pokemon. "Grimm! Where are you?" he yelled as he was closing in on his pokemon.

The trio's quiet moment in the woods didn't last very long, however. A rustling in the nearby bushes caught their attention, and all three pairs of eyes watched intently as a brown Pokemon with bushy fur poked its head out from under the shrub it had been hiding in, nose twitching intently. It had a black mask-like pattern covering its face, and at once Jaeshan knew he was looking at a Zigzagoon.
"Why hello there," he said gently, holding out his hand in a friendly manner. The Zigzagoon's ears perked up, and it cautiously ventured forward, the steps it took leading it in an odd zigzag pattern. It sniffed Jaeshan's hand for a moment before deciding the human was friendly, then turned to see the bright orange chick Pokemon standing nearby. Butterfree continued to sit on the log next to Jaeshan, watching the new Pokemon with interest. Jaeshan took a few pieces of Pokemon food from his backpack and placed it on the ground in front of the Zigzagoon, who began to munch on it happily. "Now where did you come from?" the boy asked, watching the little brown Pokemon eat.
However, none of them saw the little Ghost Pokemon watching them from nearby, its one crimson eye unblinking.

Grimm looked onto the pokemon and trainer in the forest. Its crimson eye followed the Zigzagoon as it came out of the brush. The scent of the pokemon food spurred Grimm as well, but, being in hiding, no one could see the glare that came upon its eye.
The ghost pokemon slowly vanished as Myuko turned the corner, entereing the path where Grimm waited at the end of it. Damn. Grimm, where are you going? Myuko thought to himself as his jog slowed to a stealth walk.
Grimm slowly started to appear behind the trainer's shoulder, looking on to the back of him and the Butterfree who's wings had blocked the view of the small orangish pokemon that had grew closer to the Zigzagoon. (((ahhh, ye olde writer's detail block)))

"Cinnamon... where'd you go?" came the voice of a girl, approximately sixteen, through the forest. She parted branches and stepped over rocks in a hurried motion, obviously looking for something. She wore her hair in a long braid that ran down the center of her back, and was a dark teal in colour. Round, thin-rimmed glasses decorated her freckled face, behind which hid a pair of pretty blue eyes. Dirty overalls covered her legs, abdomen and part of her chest, with a deep purple t-shirt covering her shoulders and backs. A bit of panic rose up in her voice when she called out again. "Cinnamon... c'mon! Cinnamon!"
The little Zigzagoon that had made herself very comfortable in the company of the blonde-haired boy and his Pokemon looked up just then, and made a barking noise in response. The girl stumbled over a low-rise shrub and into the small clearing. "There you are! Don't scare me like that!" she sighed, rushing over and scooping up the Tinyraccoon Pokemon in her arms. The Pokemon squirmed happily, making itself more comfortable. "Sorry about that," she laughed sheepishly, turning to Jaeshan. "She has a tendency to run off sometimes. She's very excitable." She studied the Torchic and the Butterfree for a moment, and then caught sight of the Duskull appearing behind them. "Are all of these Pokemon yours?" she asked, studying all three of them in turn.

((Inu... this character is a boy ^^)) The sudden appearance of the girl was a bit startling, and Jaeshan looked up a bit sheepishly. The Zigzagoon, evidently named Cinnamon, seemed quite happy to see her, and trainer and Pokemon enjoyed a quick reunion. "It's all right, she was no trouble at all," he nodded, standing up. He felt a chill run down the back of his spine, and he reached behind him to scratch his back. "And yeah, they're mine," he nodded, looking down at Torchic and then over to Butterfree. The little chick looked up at the girl, her eyes wide with happiness. So many new people and Pokemon to meet!
Not really knowing what to say next, Jaeshan just continued to watch Torchic hop excitedly along the ground. He'd never been very good at this sort of thing, especially when it came to talking to girls.
