liz_bliz_inc Dragon Sneeze The Kohr Dragon Sneeze The Kohr liz_bliz_inc "Well we don't think that she chose Zack because of some outstanding price or just because she's grabbing anyone with a power to sell. Tinker and Feral seem fairly convinced that this is something the Eden Organization contracted. Zack was one of a handful of mutants to survive their experimentation with accelerating the growth of a mutant's powers and their span by inducing secondary mutations to manifest years before they might have. He was also one of five they considered to be successful according to the data Tinker took from the facility the Hunters shut down years back, it was dubbed 'project Omega'. He and the other four represent a massive investment of time and money on their part and their being freed before the project came to full fruition was a enormous blow to their plans. My theory is they aren't just after Zack, they probably contracted this woman to bring in any of the five she could." Rei looked from person to person at the fire and said, "This is told in the strictest of confidences I might add." She then continued, "I doubt that the Eden organization would be interested in Danny for the same purposes they want Zack, though they might still be interested for different ones. We'd need to convince the bounty hunter that she'd find a much higher bidder for a mutant that could be the key to immortality than Eden would ever pay for Zack." "I do agree that she has to be fairly veteraned at this line of work; she is handling this hostage situation far better than most I've seen." She looked at Ricky as she said, "I wouldn't really call it a 'one trick pony', considering that even with the skills we possess outside out powers, if we possess any, we rely heavily on them in situations where our opponent is also powered. I also don't really consider that is is playing on threats so much as she is very serious about what she will do if we push here while she has most of the cards. She knows she needs to keep Zack under her thumb constantly if she is to have leverage in this situation, with us and definitely with Zack. She may have seen what he did to that floating mountain when it fell but I don't think she could know this: Zack's powers grow stronger the larger the span of bare earth and forest around him becomes. Not just what he has to wield, but how much he can wield, how strong he can make it, how fast he can move it. He is more powerful in this sort of location than at almost any other time, more powerful than most mutants I have seen. The middle of nowhere is the worst place for anyone to try and test him, the moment she couldn't kill him or someone else on a whim is the moment she is in serious trouble from more than just us. So honestly I think the question of whether she can throw a punch, take a hit or is handy with a pair of jumper cables is somewhat of a moot point at this particular crossroad." Reaper leaned forward with his face in his hands and he began to grumble then he stopped and pulled his face from his hands. "No more talk, no more plans! At first light we put this b***h to the test! She wont kill him because they want him alive, only reason why he is. She can't get us all bottom line we put the pressure on her. Normally I'd do this but Danny I want you on point you up for it?" Reaper finished and poked Danny in his chest. Danny shrugged. "I don't mind giving it a shot, I'm just wondering what will happen if we succeed. If she decides I'm a better target, wouldn't we just be switching hostages?" "Yes in a sense, if you want to put it in black in white. But at the same time I am more comfortable with one of my own in her hands. And as far as we have seen you can't die so she can threaten all she wants with you, just make sure that when you go in for the hit it's meant to lay her out, don't let the fact that she's a woman make you pull your punch." reaper laughed ,"Our boy Danny finally taking point! I wish I had a camera, this is like the prom night you never let me in on!" though he spoke with joy in his words it was obvious from his eyes that Reaper was sore on the fact that he was excluded from Danny and Tessa's prom night 18 months ago. Danny ignored Reaper's tone and turned to Rei. "When can we get this plan up and running? Do you have her position?" "Judging from the rate she travels at, I'd say she's probably a good three miles away right now, roughly west-north-west of us; though her specific location has always been something Liz has had to narrow down as she's tracked closer, which as you know, has become a bit too hard for her to do of late." Rei looked as Liz and then back to the group. "As quickly as we can all be rested I hope. We have a few hours until sunrise. I can finish up my watch, Liz will be up soon and I will be able to get the few hours of sleep I need. If you want to catch some sleep it would probably be a good idea, we'll be moving as quickly as we can while tracking to catch up to her." "I've already gotten my beauty sleep, whole 2 hours of it. Can't really get sleep with this job." Reaper sighed and stared of and began mumbling about missed opportunities and short life expectancy.

Dragon Sneeze Melody began to urge her captive on faster. "We're almost at tha drop off point. I can't wait ta be rid of ya!" Zack reluctantly quickened his pace as he was pushed more frequently. Zack could tell there were nearing Melody's desired destination because the trees began to thin out slightly ahead and he felt and absence of them beyond that in a large, roughly circular area that seemed to be a clearing. Yet for some reason he did not sense any living grass of smaller plant life like he might expect. After focusing on the area as they approached he discovered that there was indeed plants there, the reason why he hadn't sensed anything from them initially was because they were all quite dead. This is strange, an entire clearing worth of plants dead...not by fire, there'd be nothing left for me to find if that were the case. The only other options are drought, disease and.... Zack stopped then as a chill hit him like a wall. It was like stepping out of a warm house into the dead of winter, like a whole different climate. Surely Melody would feel it only a few seconds later. He felt a shove again and continued on. The last few feet before the clearing a layer of frost set in on the ground and the crunch under their feet became quite audible. Zack stopped again at the threshold to the clearing and beheld a rather imposing sight. The entire clearing was a sheet of ice forming a crater that was once a patch of grass and shrubs, now a cold dent in the earth. Jagged layered ripples of ice jutted into the air every dozen or so yards as if the ice had been created from the center of the clearing and flowed outwards like water. In the center of the clearing a helicopter sat, surrounded buy half a dozen humans, all frozen in place like perfect crystalline statues of solid ice; except for the tail of the helicopter, which had snapped off after becoming too brittle to support it's own weight. "Jessica..." Zack muttered to himself before he turned to Melody and said, without any trace of snark or impertinence, "Where to now?"

She gave Zack a side glance and seeing his unworried face she asked him on a whim, "You from around here?"

At first he was taken back at the oddness of it. It seemed sort of out of place, or at least out of character from what she had shown him so far. Then he thought about the question. He had gathered a rough idea of where they were as they travel, especially once they had taken to foot in the wilderness. He knew they were some where in the mid-west, most probably in Colorado or one of the states surrounding it, mostly from the mountains. There was also an unshakable feeling of familiarity with the landscape he had been getting recently. He first gave Melody an unsure look with his eyebrow raised before he set and closed his eyes, letting his sense of the flora and rock around him expand outwards and downwards. Surprisingly it only took him about half a minute before he began to grasp very familiar topography and forests once he view them from a larger frame. After another half minute he came upon....strange trees; they seemed to have non-plant material at the core that.... Zack almost bit his lip at the as the sudden revelation swept over him like a wave of nausea. "Yes," he said as he opened his eyes and the world once again became what his immediate human sense showed him. "I'm not sure how we managed to come this way on accident but yes. I was raised in Colorado until I was 12. There was a...an incident, I was taken by Eden only a few days later. Back at the camp, Liz stirred roughly a dozen minutes after Rei had seen herself to sleep. She rose with a groggy look like her sleep had not been entirely restful and like she hadn't really gotten any quality sleep in at least a a few days. For the new arrivals, in retrospect, Rei had probably had a similar look to her, she simply didn't show it as much due to being naturally overactive. As Liz rubbed the sleep from her eyes she noticed those still seated at the campfire and gave a relieved sigh.
"So I see Alex got you my message," She said as she drug herself to the now unused log opposite Victor and Ricky that Rei had sat at prior. "And it also seems he gave you a lift; I never really liked his teleporting spells honestly."
She looked over to Rei's sleeping figure and then back to the group before she said, "I assume Rei filled you in on our situation?"
"Did she fill them in on how we're taking too long at this?" A female voice interrupted Liz as a tall, toned young woman stepped out of the woods to the clearing. She had very short cut and ruffled hair dyed a dark purple and her hazel eyes glinted in the firelight. Her clothing seemed like a modified wet suit of some kind with shades of blacks and grays with a tidal wave pattern on the right shoulder. Liz seemed to reflexively tense up at the sudden intrusion but immediately relaxed at the sight of the new person, she was obviously an ally. Still, her tone and words seemed to agitate Liz all the same.
"We've been close before and I think we're close again," Liz responded before motioning from the men to the new young woman. "Before I forget, this is Maelstrom, she's one of Zack's former team members from x-nation. She is one of the people we've gotten to run interference for us."
"I'm buying you time so you can get my friend back," Maelstrom spat back with a rather cutting edge to her words with only a slight glance toward the boys to acknowledge their presence. "And I'm honestly not sure you realize there is a definite limit to the number of times we can cut this bounty hunter off from her hand off before she just kills Zack and is done with it."
"You don't know that," Liz said flatly.
"Oh?" Maelstrom said. "I think you under estimate her instinct for self preservation. Believe me that when it comes to anything to deal with Eden and the bounty hunter's they've had on us five since day one...you don't know what you are talking about compared to any of us. We are backing her into a corner, we haven't reached her breaking point yet but it's there and it's close. These people you've brought better be god damned miracle workers because if you don't separate them soon she will kill Zack and disappear after the next time or two we wreck her rendezvous. And I won't stop to keep him alive. None of us would, we'd all rather die than go back, or let another one of us do the same; I'd kill him myself if the choice was between death and Eden."
"It won't come to that," Liz said defensively, "Zack is all of our friend, we want him.."
"HA," Maelstrom snorted, cutting Liz off. "Maybe you think a year or so as his partner and a friendly romp here and there get you close to a person but let me tell you right now hun... you have no idea. No idea what it was like, no idea what it did you any of us; if you did you might understand why I'd be willing to kill him to stop that. You may be his 'friend'...but you've never really known him, or any of us. You. Don't. Know. Anything. Don't presume that you do for even a moment."
"Shut UP!" Liz said as she brought her hand down on the log and a flash of energy spike around her hand. The part of the log she touch was ripped to shreds as her aura ate through it like it was just air. Maelstrom did indeed stop her berating, but the look on both of their faces stayed a sour one.
The air was deathly silent as the two just stared at each other like whoever broke the eye contact first was the wrong one. Needless to say the whole ordeal was probably massively odd to the new comers, none of them had been there to pressure of the circumstance build up among those present, especially between Liz and Maelstrom. This was months of unspoken differences coming to a explosive clash.

liz_bliz_inc Back at the camp, Liz stirred roughly a dozen minutes after Rei had seen herself to sleep. "And it also seems he gave you a lift; I never really liked his teleporting spells honestly." She looked over to Rei's sleeping figure and then back to the group before she said, "I assume Rei filled you in on our situation?" "Did she fill them in on how we're taking too long at this?" A female voice interrupted Liz as a tall, toned young woman stepped out of the woods to the clearing. She is one of the people we've gotten to run interference for us." "I'm buying you time so you can get my friend back," Maelstrom spat back with a rather cutting edge to her words with only a slight glance toward the boys to acknowledge their presence. "And I'm honestly not sure you realize there is a definite limit to the number of times we can cut this bounty hunter off from her hand off before she just kills Zack and is done with it." "You don't know that," Liz said flatly. Besides. Reaper and I are genuine miracle workers. Like that time on Melville Island. Tell em Vic."

Besides. Reaper and I are genuine miracle workers. Like that time on Melville Island. Tell em Vic." "Eh, it's a bit off a long one, but to be honest I don't think she gives a damn about our bona fide miracle working pasts. And frankly I'm sick of all the whining. We out number her and we can utterly over power this ace bounty hunter in a fight. Now, I'm not one to underestimate someone's abilities," He paused and looked directly in Maelstrom's eyes. She wouldn't be able to tell under his mask but he couldn't help but smirk. " But I can say this with out a doubt that bounty hunters do it for the thrill first and the money second, and you always get less if the package is damaged or dead. She's not gonna kill him end of story and she isn't going to make her tryst," Reaper rand his fingers through his hair then noticed some excess marzipan on his hand he flung it off and leaned back against a conveniently close tree. "Heatstroke and I never lose and with our protégé our odds increase ten full. I trust myself and my plan all of this second guessing and worrying isn't going to save him. Can we agree on this?" *** Meanwhile at The Hall Of Justice City Hall*** Reporters clambered around a certain smiling front runner for the office of Mayor. Deep within the crowd of on lookers at the arrival of this great sensation stood Soul. Unapologetic in his appearance of an unshaven trench coat wearing bum. His goggles dangled around his neck and underneath his shirt it was clear he wore some form of body armor. The years and years of being on the job gave Soul two distinct things that most new heroes didn't have the wisdom to know that you never punch out from the job and the good sense to not give a damn about secret identities. He scraped through the crowd further up the stairs as his target moved with through the would-be followers. Soul rolled his eyes at all the pandering and baby kissing. Jesus, what does he think he's runnin' for Governor?! I should kill 'im, it be so much easier just to kill 'im but The kid says we gotta stay better. I keep tellin' 'em, that s**t get's old after the first ten years. Can't believe I have ta do this.Mid way up he is stopped by a louse of a security guard. "This look like a soup kitchen ere b***h!?" Before the man had a change to place a single hand on Soul he displayed an invitation lead by a certain finger pointing to his name. "Mutha ******** I'm on the guest List!"

The guard took a step forward, but Ed. JJ's erstwhile bodyguard, stepped forward and motioned him to leave. He nodded at Soul, and upon getting JJ's attention he waited until the mayoral candidate gave his final words before he stepped down. He gave a hefty smile and laughed. "Soul my boy! Glad you could make it. Follow me if you please, too many ears and not enough wallets here." They made their way to the mayor's office and with a sweep of his hand he removed the former mayor's desk accoutrement and sat down feet up. "So what do you think of me new digs?"

"Say what you will," Maelstrom spit out the words, "but I'll believe the results, not the banter." She looked to the horizon as the sun was creeping its head above the skyline. She whipped her hand out and a blast of water shot forward at the fire, flash freezing as it splashed off the logs and creating a rather jagged looking ice formation with grey ash trapped within. "Time to move, you'd better get moving before the trail goes cold entirely." She moved to the tree-line, but stopped for a moment and turned, saying, "If you didn't already know we're not happy with Hunters for even letting this happen. I told Zack myself we should stick to family until we were sure Eden was out of the picture, but you people convinced him otherwise. We will prevent his capture one way or another but unless it ends with him alive and well and back with us we will hold Hunters partially responsible and cut ties." Without giving time for any reply she faded quickly into the brush. A few moments later Rei stretched and yawned as she sat up from her sleeping position. As she rubbed her eyes she said, "What'd I miss?"
