I'LL.
PUNCH.
THEM.
*punches problems*

I convinced my sister to play Dawn with me. The problem is that she's not a caster person either, so Marta's healing isn't easily available... Oh well. I teach ALL the monsters I use how to use First Aid, at least!

I have an RP idea, but I don't think it's really good. Still, if it sparks ideas, that's good.
For a reason that I am keeping secret, some computer genius has managed to place certain people into an electronic world. Who this is and why he/she did it is unknown by the masses. These people have more immediate problems, anyway. The mass downloading of their consciousnesses resulted in the world being shaped and populated according to some of the knowledge of the people. For example, there are "creatures" known as Memetics, the embodiments of popular thoughts that replicate at high speed. One could face down an army of kawaii singing Clouds armed with combustible lemons, Agent Smiths, or even Cel firing his laser and Hadokens while riding Ice Cars! These are not necessarily the same as the popular perception, as some may have developed their own personalities (making them playable- you could be a unique member of said Cloud species). The other major race consists of the humans from outside, who appear in many forms. They may appear as themselves, what they think of themselves, or even one of their online avatars if they're a nerd (so, in theory, I could RP a fusion of myself and my Evilweirdo 0 persona). In any case, they have very little memory of their world of origin, if any. They usually only remember their own names, and sometimes not even that.
In addition, there are animals and "NPCs" that appear to be the normal thing, but act differently. The world is affected by the minds of the original and certain other people in it, resulting in a strangely familiar, yet entirely different world map.
Anyway, I bet you saw this coming, but the magic system is based on code. There are a few types of people who stand out from the rest, most of which fall under the following three categories.

Techies: Using hard-earned knowledge of the code in the world around them, they affect their environment using their own intelligence. They can learn to "cast" just about anything, making perfect Blue Mage types. They must work to see into the code around them, but can see it. They're the D&D wizard type, and anyone can work to become one.

Prodigy: They have a more innate power over the world, and nobody can become one. You either are or aren't. They have fewer abilities known, but can use them more creatively and with more power. They can easily see into the world's code and affect it. They're like D&D sorcerers.

Adept: Using power earned through mental discipline, they augment themselves for amazing prowess in certain areas, usually power and agility. They're not so much casters as very talented people. Most noncasters that aren't commoners are these. They cannot see the world's code. They are often weapon masters, unarmed attackers, athletes, or even criminals.

Subcategories: One can be of multiple subcategories.
Troubleshooters: Healers that debug and repair stuff.
Animators: Those who use their power to create or summon creatures and objects, for attack or defense.
Moderators: Often leaders, these people can counterspell, dispel, boot, or capture easily.
Programmers: Masters of traps, preset reactions, and machines.
Hackers: Bet you didn't see this coming! While not as good at counterspelling as moderators, they can hijack existing "spells" and turn them to their own benefit.
Gamers: These people often have flashy combat abilities, insight into puzzles, and are very adaptable.
Memekeeper: Those with power over Memetics, and even with powers similar to them.

Those with power tend to gather to find out why they are in this world and how to get out. To do so, they face down firewalls, Memetics, and maybe even an evil mod or two. Yes, I think I have an idea of why they're there.

Sample Locations:
Certain real-world cities
Incarnations of certain websites (4chan /b/ is a dark land of scum and villainy!)
Incarnations of certain worlds from the media (Hyrule, Aselia, etc... Usually reached via "links")
