The three would feel as though they were being stretched and pulled in every direction before sucked at once toward the object used as the focus for the spell, the now crushed nut. Their surroundings blurred to brown, then black for just a split second before there was a loud popping sound and a feeling of rushing wind as a very light brown powder or dust exploded outwards from the darkness to surround them...

Not far from the spot where the three emerged into the dark forest with a pop and a the cloud-burst was the dying fire that a lone Rei still sat at like a sleepless sentinel; within eyesight. Liz had apparently dozed off under a small tarp overhang that had been set up using a low hanging tree branch.

Rei reacted with reflexes of greased lightning, launching from her sitting position so fast a divot of dirt shot up into the air at a steep angle behind her from the force of her acceleration. She zoomed quickly to the cloud, into it, and through it, grabbing at anything she could as she did and managing to hit pay-dirt, dragging the object with her.

As she exited the cloud she forced what she now felt was a person to directly in front of her and slammed then into a trunk behind the now dissipating cloud. She made sure that it was not so fast that that the momentum and impact would kill or even vastly harm a human, but enough to hurt and disorient.

As she clutched the collar of the boy's shirt as she pressed him again the tree she said "Who are you? How did you get here? And...."

She paused as she sniffed the air. Then, after pausing again and with a look of confusion on her face, she moved her nose closer to the boy's face and sniffed again before taking a finger and swiping it across his cheek and then licking the powder he was covered in off the tip.

"And why are you covered in Marzipan? You smell like a sweetheart cake."

(The boy being Danny (I believe he was absent from the island, so she wouldn't have met him there right? The cloud should dissipate enough to no longer hinder visibility at all with in the next 8-9 seconds (with Rei's entire motion having taken about 1). Think of it like a explosion of flour, it hangs in the air for a bit.))

Rei felt the strength of Danny's grip immediately as he tried to get free. As soon as she felt his hands start to wrap around her rather slender lower arm she knew he'd overpower her in a contest of muscle. She withdrew in a blur to about six feet from him; it was a long enough distance that she could get enough speed to put a huge force behind an attack if she needed.

"And who am I dealing with then?" She said as her eyes flitted back and forth between him and the thinning cloud, watching for movement in either; she could now make out silhouettes that were gaining definition as it dispersed.

Rei's eye lit with recognition at the sight of Ricky and Victor and she fell out of the tensed ready stance she had taken up. She turned to Danny and gave a short bow as she said, "I am sorry for attacking a friend. I...we...have just been a bit on edge lately. I just reacted on stressed nerves I guess."

She looked back to Ricky and Victor, whom where both also coated in a thin layer of the powder. She seemed to be trying to understand the presence of the cloud on their arrival for a moment, then smirked as she said, "This is Nix's doing isn't it?"

"Hm, still, I don't think I've seen one of his spells have a discharge on entrance like..." Rei paused as tasted her finger again, the one which she had swiped some powder off Danny with; after which she let out a rather giddy laugh as she said, "He used me as the anchor didn't he?"

"I don't think he's ever used food as a focus before, I'll have to tell him how it came out the other end the next time I see him." Rei crossed her arms as she began to walk back to the campfire, moving out of the few feet of tree cover and into the relative open of the camp area. She seemed to expect the three to follow.

"You see when he anchors a teleportation spell he normally needs just needs to think of something about the place or person. To take a group of people he needs a physical focus through which to amplify the effect to a small area around him."

Rei sat down, using the log behind her as a back rest as she continued. "In the case of a place or structure he has a few options, but in the case of a living anchor it's more restrictive and he needs to pick a focus that he in some way identifies with the person by, almost always by their attachment or strong feelings to it. His choice of anchor is limited according to the anchor he chooses not so much by what or where they are like a inanimate place or thing, but by who they are. It's why teleporting to places he hasn't been isn't impossible for him, but teleporting to people he knows nothing about is."

She paused as she let it sink in before finishing. "The reason you are covered in almond paste is because it has been my favorite treat since I was a kid. With how much food I can metabolize.... well lets just say Nix and I have worked together a lot in the past and he knows how much of that stuff I can put away. I assume he gave you a pressed marizpan sweet some candy with that as filling or an almond itself. Either way when you activated the spell I assume the focus transformed into the purest copy of what he was thinking about when he cast spell. I couldn't say why it did so in such an...explosive manner though."

Rei blushed at Reaper's jest, and at the same time Liz gave a loud snort or snoring sound as she rolled in her sleep, as if on que. Noting that Liz still remained asleep Rei adjusted her position as she cleared her throat and said, "No, Nix and I were never like that. We are very close though, sort of like he and Liz are; I think all the younger Hunters are pretty close. That's why this is almost personal for us, it's like they took a brother from us, but especially from the former x-nation members. We had to stick together for years before we split to follow our own paths."

She looked into the fire briefly as it danced in the cool night air before answering his question about their enemy. "We've tried a few things so far but we have never been able to find a solid opening and have never moved to strike or had to back off mid attack. Right now we're sort of in between plans, Liz felt we needing help tracking her though if we were going to keep biding time while making new plans."

"As for the opponent, there is only one that we are concerned with. There are a few others that have been intercepting teams meant for trade off with her before they meet up. We haven't been able to figure out how to take Zack from her but we cannot allow her to hand him off to them. We at least know the stakes or our current situation, if we let her get that far there are still too many unknowns to play the odds with Zack's life by letting the deal go through and trying to get to him after, so we are keeping her isolated as long as we can."

Rei shifted her weight as she concluded, "The abductor has some sort of power to separate parts of things, even animals, from the whole without causing immediate harm to them and reattach them later. the problem is she can also stop the spell and let the natural events of severed limbs or organs occur naturally. We're guessing magic based on that but we have no idea how it's done or what type of magic she is using if that's what it is. Any time we have put the pressure on so far she has been on the ball in making sure she had a vital piece of Zack removed from him. We think she can cease the effect at any time, but more importantly that were she to die, the spell would end as well. Which means if we kill or possibly even knock her out, Zack dies so long as she has an important piece of him cut off at the time."

"In essence, we are in a very deadly stalemate."

Rei thought for a moment and then responded. "We honestly have no clue as to her full range, though the longest we've seen her use it at was about a ten yards. As to the range she can maintain the effect we also can't say."

"Well," Danny started, "We know that I can't be affected by he power. Maybe we can use that somehow?"
