MISSION-Shadows of the Night! There have been a lot of reports of people getting lost in the woods. Go deep in Viridian Forest and see what's up. You'll find a Dusclops and a Bannette kidnaping people! Stop them! You'll also fight a Gengar holding the other people hostage.
Pokemon: Wurmple Haunter Caterpie Weedle
Funds: 1000-2700 ------------------------------
"Ah ghost Pokemon." Ginji smiled as he packed his bags for yet another mission. "I wondered if I would ever see another one." he sighed. "Maybe I could finally get one of my own." he chuckles as he checks his bags. Only a few Pokeballs at his side in case of emergency. Behind him a purple and green figure slowly stalks up on him, catching him unaware and forcing him to the floor.
Spirtomb disappeared inside of the Odd Keystone that it was trapped to just before Ginji looked at the rock. "Nice try Spiritomb, but I don't really consider you a ghost type, more like an evil spirit that has refused to come to the light side." the boy explained as both the stone and the purple vortex vanished after letting loose an evil sound. Not a playful evil, a malicious sound that could stir the dead.
Ginji just sighed, this wasn't the first problem he had with Spiritomb, "Maybe he'll settle down if I bring him a ghost type friend back..." he wondered out loud as he headed towards the exit of Headquarters, grabbing for a Pokeball. Dragonite appeared in a brilliant flash of white light to take his friend and master to Viridian Forest.
They flew fast, low and dangerously. It was a comforting day, with little cloud coverage. Dragonite took them down towards the water and dragged his oversized foot in it, letting loose a spray of water behind them. He then proceeded to turn out a various amounts of aerial movements. He had been practicing since his battle with Altaria at HoennTV. They had so much time to waste before heading into the forest, you couldn't exactly catch Ghosts Pokemon in action during the daylight hours. Well, not normal ghosts anyways.
The pair landed at the Viridian PokeCenter and touched base with a few residents there. "Excuse me sir, what can you tell me about the disappearances in the forest?" Ginji called out to the elderly man as he returned Dragonite to its Pokeball, making it easier to see the man's face, and also taking pressure off of the situation.
"Are you here to stop them?" was his immediate response. You could feel the tremble in his voice. He was scared, and what little hair he had stood on its end. Were the ghosts really that scary?
"I'm here to find a Ghosts Pokemon." Ginji replied with a calm tone of voice. A bit too calm for his demeanor, yet calm enough to make it seem normal. The whole situation with ghosts had him spooked, and he had little time to recover. He quickly found his voice again."What can you tell me about the situation?" he asked again.
"My. My Daughter was kidnaped a few nights ago. She was traveling alone. On her way to battle Brock." The man sighed heavily and slightly whimpered before breaking down into a sea of tears. After this upset he was no longer willing to talk to anyone, as he hobbled back towards what seemed to be his apartment complex.
The blonde boy sighed. Too bad he couldn't get anymore information out of the old man. But it seemed to be sufficient. The ghosts only showed up at night, and kidnaped travelers that looked weak and alone. That was to be expected. The boy sighed as he headed into the PokeCenter to rest up for the long night he had coming up.
No moon and only a handful of stars. "No wonder they liked the forest" Ginji sighed as he walked along the pathway. He decided it would be best to try and go a different way, just incase the kidnapers didn't stick to the beaten road. Surely enough, the sky went black. Not even the outlines of the trees were visible. Yet, Ginji wasn't scared, but that was until two ghostly hands grabbed his arms from behind.
Wartortle appeared in a flash of light to apprehend the attacker, shooting torrents of water around Ginji's backside, forcing the hands to let go of him. Haunter appeared several seconds later, attacking Wartortle with a Thunderbolt. Wartortle was ready, holding on to the attack, severely lowing its health, countered with a Mirror Coat, sending Haunter's health into the gutter. Yet somehow it managed to hang on. Using the last of its strength to attack with another Thunderbolt, knocking Wartortle a new one. Except Haunter didn't calculate one tiny detail, Wartortle's Focus Band. Using another Mirror Coat, Haunter was sent flying past the red. Fainted.
"Great. I wanted to catch that Pokemon too." he sighed as he reached into his backpack to find a health item. "I wonder if a potion would work..." he wondered as he sprayed the item on Haunter's wounds. He then tossed a Duskball at Haunter, not waiting for it to wake up and attack him again. Wiggle. Wobble. Wiggle. Wait, wait, wait. DING! As the sound rang through the night, it seemed as if the life had restored to the section of the forest. But there was still an eerie silence further on in.
He traveled into the dark. Unaware. Unprepared. Unemotional. He returned Wartortle as he approached an opening in the Forest. "What do we have here?" he wondered quietly to himself as he saw cages and two shadowy figures sitting lightly on top of them. "Poachers?" he wondered again as he stepped forward into the starlight. "Who are you?!" he yelled. "And what are you doing?!" he asked the figures who turned around to reveal Pokemon. Bannette and Dusclops. This confused Ginji, but not to the point of sacrificing the mission. The mission was the top priority.
Two Pokemon appeared at his side. His personal favorite tag team duo. Ivysaur and Ivysaur. Sure, they didn't match many types, but the way they worked together was truly art in its purest form. The male Ivysaur first started by trying to wrap Bannette up in its vinewhip. Bannette struggled for a second before disappearing into the shadows. The female Ivysaur then proceeded to scatter Leech Seeds everywhere, sticking Bannette as it reappeared underneath the tree branch. Dusclops shot a shadow ball at the male Ivysaur, knocking the wind out of him, and sending him flying into a tree.
Ivysaur recovered and launched a Leech Seed at the unsuspecting Dusclops, recovering his own HP in the process and placing a makeshift tracer on the ghost Pokemon. The female Ivysaur jumped at the chance and knocked the ghosts a new one with Razor Leaf, making a critical strike on both of the evil ghosts. Bannette recovered first, phasing into one of the metal crates and grabbing a human to use as a hostage. Dusclops did the same. This was turning into quite the stalemate. Except they didn't take the Leech Seed into effect. As the seeds spread their poison, the Ivysaurs stroke. First, they saved the civilians with a quick vinewhip, then they attacked with a heavy barrage of razor leafs, knocking the ghosts to the floor and saving the civilians.
As the ghosts fled from the scene, the forest again regained some color and composure. It seemed calmer now. As the darkness and haze cleared, Ginji rushed to the steel cages and released the trapped trainers from inside. Whatever could these Pokemon be doing with Pokemon Trainers? "Go on, go home, it's safe." he assured the multiple people he freed as he looked deeper into the forest and deeper into the impending blackness. There was still something out there. Something big.
The boy was right. A few minutes walk from the last clearing into the darkness yielded another clearing with more steel cages. A girl was on the outside of one, crying her eyes out. She had to be the old man's daughter! Ginji rushed to her side to free when the darkness fell upon him. Gengar appeared out of the shadows and pushed Ginji aside with a vicious Psychic attack. With Ginji out of the picture for the time being, his Pokeballs exploded. First Seedot appeared, quick claw activating, attacked Gengar with Worry Seed. With Gengar no longer being able to levitate, it fell hard to the ground. Gengar rushed at Seedot using another Psychic attack. Instead of the attack connecting, Ginji's new Haunter flashed out of its ball to take the full front of the attack. Haunter screamed in pain before returning to its Pokeball in defeat. Seedot was stunned and started to run away when Flygon appeared from Ginji's tool belt, giving Seedot the chance to free the civilians from their cells.
Flygon screeched as it hit the ground, unleashing a terrifying Earthquake, with no ability to save Gengar, it took the full front of the attack. Gengar roared too, a more evil roar to say the least, but a roar none-the-less. Pay-back time, doing much damage to Flygon in the process. It still wasn't enough to even think about taking Flygon all the way down. The sand dragon rushed at Gengar with a vicious Dragon Claw to try and take the last bits and chunks away from Gengar's health. No luck, Gengar held firm and countered with a Shadow Ball, knocking Flygon into the red zone.It all came down to this, a one on one battle for the security of the civilians. Gengar made the next move, using a devastating Shadow Ball again with the intent of destroying Flygon. The dragon had one last trick of its sleeve though, as the attack hit, a wooden log appeared in its place, Flygon then attacked with another Dragon's Claw to seal the deal.
Ginji eventually stirred back into consciousness, and to see the Old Man's daughter in front of him was quite a sight to wake up to! She was definitely gorgeous by all means, and she was very impressed by the fact that he had beaten Gengar in his sleep. He offered to walk her the rest of the way to Brock's Gym. They chatted a bit on the way there, but nothing too drastic happened the rest of the way. After she stepped inside the gym, the boy flew off into the sunrise, after making sure there was no more darkness anywhere in the forest. "Back to HQ..." he sighed, the cute young girl still on his mind. "Oh well." he smiled as he thought of all the girls back at Aqua.

"Yeah, he graded my test. I passed the first one." Ginji smiled as he sat at a table full of books and calculators, working hard on the second ref test.

Little Master Reaper MD2 Reaper: "How much ref tests are there?" "Two tests, and then a battle under the supervision of a ref." Ginji smiled as he looked up from his work. "That and the last third of the second test is a real cake walk." he remarked sarcastically.

On a hilltop above Lilycove, a man in a deep green cloak surveys the scene. The magnificent HoennTV building had collapsed into a burned out heap of twisted steel. Smaller fires had been set throughout town, but the damage was largely contained. Wisps of smoke still rose from a few buildings.
"This is awful... I can't believe the LB Gang is capable of this. If only I'd been here sooner!"
He punches the air in frustration, then turns and walks down the hill away from the city.

Unless Thard has any say-so, I will allow this to pass. Just two little things before I let you go back to chasing the girls. If Haunter had fainted, it would have taken a revive to bring it back. A potion is no good to a fainted Pokemon. Also, try discovering new means of expressing Pokemon's HP. While nothing's wrong to borrow the game's method of measuring HP, other ways could make it more exciting. Unless you have some sort of "Pokemon scanner", you wouldn't see the Pokemon's HP in a bar that goes from green to yellow to red. *Takes a deep breath* Enjoy 2500PD and your new Haunter. Now go buy a nice lady some dinner. 3nodding

"I was originally planning to try some new methods, and I kinda figured the potion thing would be a bit extreme. I was kinda hoping 'anime style' would be on my side for that one. And I got a bit rushed, I was planning to finish this mission on Saturday, as I had all that time, but it just didn't happen, so my mind set was a bit off." Ginji sighed as he accepted the cash money and ran to update his profile. "I'm going to experiment more with different battle styles next mission, just you watch!"

It's only a level 2 mission, and the writing quality is excellent. I do have one other thing to say. The 'red zone' of a pokemon's health bar is below 20 percent. Substitute requires 25. But, minor flaws in a low-level mission can still squeak through."

Hears Thard's comment. "That wasn't exactly a substitute." Ginji scratched his head. "It's called a 'Wooden Puppet.' I got it back in Rocket, I didn't know if I could use it or not. I think it is like Substitute, but half the required HP percent and also it only lasts for one turn." Ginji thought back to when he got it. "If you guys tell me I can't use Rocket items, feel free. I probably should have asked anyways."

To evolve right now wouldn't be a good time, but when the moment is right... we could catch our opponent off-guard. *Thinks to himself: Quilava has shown interest in evolving lately...if only he could share some enthusiasm with Scizor....*

With a tone of interest, I hum, "Hm! Guess you picked up some rather unique toys at Rocket. I just thought you'd found a creative way to do Substitute. If I can use my Penumbrae and Dreamcatcher, I see no reason you can't have a little fun with your own stuff." 3nodding
*Skitty tries running up to me, but he gets to the section of floor Shuppet greased last night. With no traction, he flails wildly before giving up, sitting in place, and looking as though nothing was wrong.*
I hear Skitty's scrambling efforts, but Ike distracts me with his question. "As long as Quilava's got the evo points, I approve. You may choose the time and place as you like."
