Warning! That is what the color red is most commonly used for today. Governments all over the world put it on stop signs and flammable canisters to grab our attention. The color red has been used by mankind through the ages because of its vast usefulness. Have you ever looked at something red and wondered why it wasn't a different color? well, the answer is, it's because red is the best color there is!
The color red has been use for as long as anyone can remember to represent certain feelings and emotions. It can represent the feeling of love. On the other side of the emotional spectrum it can symbolize rage or hate. Still again it can also be used to show a passionate desire or hunger. No matter what feeling it is being used to express you can be certain red is a powerful color.
But hold on a second, lets not forget that mankind did not make the color red. We merely use it for our own devices. One such device could be the red laser that reads your CD's and allows you to listen to music or watch DVD's. But what makes red so different from orange or yellow? well red not only has the longest wavelength of any other color we can see, but it is also one of the primary colors.
There is no movement in human history in which the color red is more commonly associated then with communism. There have been two "red scares" in American history which have greatly influenced what the country is today. Another red that has had an impact on America would be the first professional baseball team, the Cincinnati Red Stockings. Thats not to say that red was only used in the distant past. Quite the opposite! Red movements and groups are being created all the time. A recent example of a red group might be the Japanese Red Army which was a prominent terrorist group that was active in Japan from between 1971 and 1988.
Symbolic, scientific, and historic. Red is indeed a very important and special color. But as you read this just remember for every use you can think of for the color red there are dozens of others you haven't. And that is what makes red the very best color there is.
