It's pretty easy, although tedious at first, it starts becoming fun when you decide to make cool poses and stuff.

I can't wait, though I'm not too fond of kroot. Kinda wish I could replace them with something but that'd mean buying another box of firewarriors or something.

It appears that the only people that play tau in my area are asians or people that're really into anime and stuff.

who cares though? Tau fit my play style, at least I think. Everything I've read on Tau shows that. I prefer the long range kill over the close range rout and if I can't get a long range kill, I like to sneak in from behind, take out a big target, then run like heck to friendly lines. pirate

That's the Tau way! Hit from afar and run like Hell when they get too close! xd
That is, of course, if you aren't a part of the Farsight enclave.
Speaking of which, my farsight looks cool in his current pose (I'll post a picture soon), but I think i'm going to make another. I made mine from a forgeworld Shas O Ra Myr. I just added two Dawn blades to the shield and he looks sweet.
Anyways, I am thinking about putting another version of that on a mound of dead orks (modifying their bodies to look dead and mutilated, of course) and hacking the head off of another ork that got too close.
It will take a s**t load of time, but what I am imagining will look absolutely amazing. It will take a while, so once the project goes underway i'll tell you all and show you all the finished product and get some reviews.

I'm trying to come up with a good paint scheme...I like the Au'taal fluff, y'know that they're always relaxing, but they have a paint scheme that I don't like.

What's the one for Fi'rios?

I'd come up with my own but I'm having trouble staying away from too much black and red or black and navy blue.

Well, my army is a Red/black/silver-with-a-few-other-colors-thrown-in-on-occassion army.
It's a neat paint scheme. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. I hate that fluffy, frilly, light and bland scheme that they so often advertise in the codex, rulebook, or magazines. rolleyes

I find that most of the Tau color schemes are nonsensical My Tau are painted a dark grey, with dark brown streaks for night/urban/mountainous camo. Highlights are in green, unit leaders have a bronze patch.

I might do black with blue sept markings and just write up a story behind it.

I have friend that just recently got into warhammer and I'm kinda new myself...but he wants to go with the tyranids and he says thet they'll kick my Tau's a**'s.....is there anything that I should know about them before I face him?...and yes I already know that they are a swarming army...and yes I know of the fleet of claw and all that crap.....what I'm looking for is some advice on what I should add to my army..I have a hammerhead with a submunition raligun and 3 XV88's with rail guns.... is there anything I can add to these long range weapons?

Tyranids are numerous but they die like bastards. Keep your Railguns for taking out Genestealers and Carnifexes and the other big stuff, and have a lot of Fire Warriors for decent shots. You'll need a lot of shots to take out 'Nids, so just have most of your troop slots maxed out with numbers, and pray for lucky rolls. If you play it right and play it lucky, you should be able to avoid getting into close combat, which is just what 'Nids want.

If you have any Crisis, I suggest that you get combinations of flamethrowers, missile pods, and/or burst cannons.
Lots of Firewarriors will work. Kroot could work well in the situation as well, and or some drones for distractions.

Well, in general, Nid v. Tau, when both generals are reasonably competent, are knife-edge games. It's race between the Nids getting stuck in and the Tau reducing their numbers to something which they can actually handle in CC. I'd suggest putting Targeting Arrays on your Broadsides. Te Railguns will be hitting more often, and it'll help you nail those Genestealers and Hormagaunts that like to hide behind terrain before charging. If you really want to drive him nuts, field a Mech Tau army. Skimmers are pretty resilient against the Nids, and will keep your Fire Warriors safe from Hive Tyrants, Gaunts, Hormagaunts, Lictors, Raveners, Etc. Circle the wagons (Devilfish) and dump your Fire Warriors in the middle, and they'll be really hard to get at. Course, this might frustrate your buddy mightily.

My suggestion, let him build his army, play some games with him, and just see if his smacktalk has any merit at all before tooling your army specifically to beat his, as that sort of thing is generally considered bad sportsmanship.

I haven't played a game yet (just started) but without a doubt, those are going on my devilfish. I mean, it's so PERFECT. For a surprise anyway. People will catch on after awhile, but as an added bonus, they won't assualt your devilfish anymore! rofl
