Can anyone help me out here I am going to my local GW and playing a game with my friend and I need some suggestions for Imperial Guard army.
Currently working on an army but can use all the help I can get.
Here is what I have avalible and its going to be a 750pt battle:
1 Command squad with Senior/heroic officer, Vet with standard, guardsmen with melta, Medic and wounded guardsmen.
2 Junior Officers
80 guardsmen with 8 vox casters, 8 grenade launchers, 8 flamers.
2 Cadian Snipers
3 Heavy Bolters
3 Auto cannons
and 1 Leman Russ
my opponent is a nids player and he likes getting in close with a broodlord with a brood of his own and 2 or more broods of genestealers and a carny. I would try this list out:
HQ: Command Squad as you have it but lead by a junior officer.
In addition, put your auto-cannons and hvy bolters in to fire support squads.
Troops:
1st platoon- Command squad consists of a junior officer, 1 guardsmen w/grenade L. 3 w/lasguns
3 squads with the following: 9 w/ lazguns 1 w/grenade L.
2nd Platoon - same as platoon 1
and that's it! the list lacks AP2 weapons (somtimes needed against nids) but for only 750 points I doubt you'll need many. Also there is a spare 10 points left over if you want to give your commander any wargear or add a special weapon to a command squad.
I didn't include the tank beacuse of the low point value for the game, it'll just take away from your numbers. (75 troopers in total)
On a final note, don't take anything more than a junior officer in your HQ for this game. when dealing with nids you'll want to be fleeing out of CC more often anyway (as long as you don't bunch up)
If what you say is true (he mostly uses gene stealers) then I would recomend only this: keep your squads far apart from each other. This is what should happen: Genstealers charge a unit. They turn it to mincemeat. And then get gunned down on your next turn since they are now out in the open.
