No words can describe my hate.
My mother works there and breaks her back doing her job and more for them and they treat her like s**t.
They have her working all day and night christmas eve as well.

I work replenishment, and at this Michael's they
are actually nice. My manager will fight tooth and nail
for us. So aside from not getting the hours because corp.
won't give her enough hours to give to us, it's been a
nice place to work.
I guess it all depends on which branch you work at.
I also work Christmas Eve, but that is far from abnormal
for retail.

It's not so much the fact that she's working christmas eve as it is the time she's having to work that day, as if it weren't already an outrageous amount of time.
Since they have one person that hasn't showed up for over a month from their day one and another person quit they have her starting as soon as they open and leaving at midnight.
They are -very- short staffed and everyone they hire especially now of all times during the holiday aren't showing up at all.
Corp. made it a ridiculous thing that they're literally not allowed to announce when the store is closing, so when they close with customers still there they just shut the lights off. (I'm pretty sure that goes for all Michael's stores, but regardless it's still ridiculous.)
And the manager for the one she works at lives in a motel where one of the newer workers also works and even though she only shows up when she wants to which is rarely, she was continuing to get and keep more hours than my mother and others who do plenty of over time, are never late.
They paid to train a new manager and he quit his first day.
He said he didn't expect it to be as much work as it'd be, where he worked before he could put off all the work on the other people, but here there's not enough people to do that.
When people get hurt, the manager doesn't care either.
Someone got cut badly and all she had to say was "I'm busy."
Then hours later shows up while she's leaving and says "What's wrong with you?" As if they did it on purpose to get out of working.

Yokies What the ********. O.o That's so.. weird.
I've never heard of not being able to buy anything without having ONE thing, jeez.
And a card of all things, dang. xP You would think that they would accept cash at least if we didn't have the card but nope, we can only use cash in the food court and their attitudes to people that don't have a card and just want to eat in the food court are so bad. They actually stop you from getting inside with the other shoppers and ask you to show them your card if you have it and if you don't they tell you to use the stairs to go down to the food court. Like they don't want people without cards to mingle with the other shoppers i hate that attitude >=(

We are short staffed as well because people just don't
show up to work as well. Especially on replenishment because
it's a lot of work. More than many anticipate.
With the lights off, I know my managers would tell people
regardless, even if they just happened to "walk by".
As for the getting hurt, my manager is on top of that and
makes sure the reports are filled out promptly and the
person who is hurt is either sat down until they are okay
or are sent either home or the ER, whichever is appropriate.
Has your mother considered applying for the manager
position since she's pulling the hours of one already?
