A noise in the woods made Haku sit up quickly. (Who's there?) he called. Niao came out of the shadows, wounded and alone.

Haku looked at Niao, startled. "He's gone? Who killed him?" Haku asked. "The leader did." Niao said. She sobbed in anger. "I've been defeated." she said. She winced as she tried to move her injured arm.
