"Yes, well, Daeron is like a sibling to me," Wren grinned at Lin. She winked at Miyuki. "And thank you, dear. I don't usually wear dresses if I can help it, if you couldn't tell by Daeron's remark, but I was told there would be no arguing this time, as we have visiting royalty to whom I am not related."

Her eyes skimmed the crowd. "There are so many of you ... who is it? I'm curious."

Aethos and Luk eyed each other, neither one of them speaking up until Alassëa pushed Aethos forward with her staff. "That would be me, I suppose," Aethos spoke up hesitantly. "Luk here is ... well I suppose you might call him a dignitary. he's one of the rulers of his land, anyways."

"Oh, I wondered!" Wren explained, her blue eyes sparkling with excitement. "I know Earendil's been traveling and I had hoped there were other elven lands! Welcome, both of you! I do hope you'll tell me all about your lands, both of you!"

"Wern...." Lin spoke up, "Before our curiousity eats us alive. How did you all know we were coming? There is no way you could have been this prepared in half an hour is there?"

It was clear that they really did know, and she wanted to know how and if there was anyone else here she didn't know about.

"Not on my own, certainly not," Wren snorted in a most unladylike fashion. "The men at the city gate sent a message via falcon, but even so I wouldn't have been able to prepare myself without my lady-in-waiting. She was ecstatic, it's rare that I actually require her aid."

She paused for a moment and stared at Lin, putting one finger thoughtfully against her lower lip. "Come to think of it ... the message said Earendil introduced himself as having a family ..."

She eyed Andarien, who was staring right back at her from where he was nestled comfortably in Lin's arms, then looked at Miyuki, and then back at Lin. "Are you ..."

So that was how they did it, well that certainly made more sense to her. It was also useful in awing newcomers even more having quick messages sent that way. Somehow Lin imagined up until their arrival it must have been chaos to get ready.

"Married," Lin nodded with a small smile, "This is our son Andarien and our daughter Miyuki."

Wren clapped her hands together. "That's great!" she beamed. "And here I always thought Earendil would never marry. He was always just like his brother."

Daeron blinked. "Hey!" he protested.

Wren just laughed. "Come now, you know it's true. Now come on, Lord Jaxon is too proper to say anything, but I believe you're all supposed to be freshening up to meet with my grandparents. I'll see you all downstairs - and I fully expect fascinating stories from each and every one of you!"

And with one last grin at Daeron, she swept past them and towards the stairs that they had just come up.

Daeron just shook his head. "That woman is insane, I swear it," he muttered.

While she managed to not laugh at Dareon, Lin still cracked a smile at that.

"I think she's quite lively," the angel murmured back.

Though she had to admit, out of all of the castle born (or raised) children of the Aldrich bloodline, Wren did seem she would have been more at home in the Borderlands than in the palace in the Westland.

"Lively?" Daeron stared at Lin.

Earendil laughed. "Yes, she's far from a ... how shall I say ... proper princess. I'm afraid our family has grown rather lax of late. My understanding is that it all began when your family was first introduced to ours, Lin."

Aethos just shook his head. "You're all off," he muttered, turning back to Alassëa. He took her arm and then nodded to their guide. "Please forgive us. We're keeping you from your duty. Please continue."

Alena looked at the sola proudly. He had certainly changed of late. A few years ago he would have given orders, no matter the fact that this was not his palace.

Lin rolled her eyes at her brother-in-law, "Don't get melodramatic on me again, yes... she is lively."

Everyone has their quirks after all and Lin was beginning to suspect that Daeron's quirk was that he was a drama queen sometimes. Even if Wren was stranger than most.

"And my family doesn't even visit your family that much with the exception of the Borderlands. I'm normally the one who visits."

"Even so," Earendil smiled. "Even so."

He put one arm around Lin's shoulders as they followed after the historian once more. Very soon they turned down a second corridor, and it was here that their guide showed them all to rooms that had been prepared for them.

Lin and Earendil's room was, as expected, a large one, but what set it apart from the rooms in the Southland palace was the fact that it was a suite meant specifically for a family with young children. One large room was clearly the 'master' room of the suite, while a smaller room to one side had a small bed - small for an elf, anyways, though still quite large for Miyuki - and a crib, which was good for Andarien. There was also a private bath for the suite, with a tub similar to those in the Southland.

"I've a feeling I'm going to enjoy our stay here," Earendil grinned as he changed his shirt to a clean one. "This is more privacy and comfort than we've seen yet on the trip."

Miyuki, already knowing which was going to be hers, which was a good sign because it meant she was now use to sleeping in a room on her own. Granted she would be sharing it with her little brother.

Lin chuckled as she pulled her wings in so she could change into something else. Even if it was her usual, at least it was a clean version of her usual.

"I will not disagree with that,"
she murmured as she ducked into the bathing room to change.

Not that she need be shy in front of Earendil, but it was for appearance sake in front of the children.

Andarien was sitting on the floor, watching his father change his shirt and chewing on the collar of his own shirt while he waited.

Earendil tsked at him and pulled the material gently from his son's mouth. "Don't eat that, it's not good for you," he scolded him gently. Andarien pouted at him, and the moment Earendil headed to the washbasin to wash his hands and face, he started chewing on his collar again.

"Miyuki, make sure to wash your hands and face at least," Earendil called out as he toweled his own face dry.

Miyuki didn't change her shirt, because she didn't have one, but she did change into a dress. She carefully poked every single one of her tails, the nice thing about having a hole in the back of her dress for tails was that she didn't have to worry about the back of her dress going up when she was playing because the tails kept it down.

"I will!"
she called back, "Come on Sen-sen!"

"Sa!" Andarien perked up hearing Miyuki's voice calling Senka's name.

Earendil made sure to brush his hair (short as it was) before he considered himself to be finished and ready to be presented to the king and queen. Family though they may be, here things were very formal and proper - with the exclusion of Wren of course.

"All right, now," he murmured, picking up Andarien and looking at him thoughtfully. "Lin," he called out, "do we have any really good clothes for Andarien?"

He wasn't sure, but he had a feeling that the only clothes they had for the boy were more day-to-day things.

Lin laughed from the bathroom before answering, "No, we thought it was pointless because we have no idea when he'll grow again."

This was true, good formal clothes were a bit more pricy and even more so if there was a chance Andarien was never going to wear them.

"Mommy! I can't get my obi on!"
Miyuki called out from her room.

"Why the kimono and not say a nice elvish dress?"

"Because I like this one! And it's the only one from Gaia that still fits me!"

Since Helen had made that a few sizes bigger, just in case.

Earendil laughed. "I would help you, Miyuki, but I have no idea how to tie an obi," he grinned at her. "You're going to have to wait for your mother for that. And maybe while we're here, we can get you a few new outfits, you really didn't get much in the Southland, and the clothes here are very good, Daeron tells me."

He set Andarien down on the bed again, then sat down next to him to wait for his wife and daughter.
