((*pushes button on time machine* TIME SKIP ACTIVATE!! *insert swirly special effects of time travel here*))
After using a bit of his godly powers (much to Mala's dismay), Van managed to figure out where they were headed. Beneath Mt. Eclipse, the mountain closest to the gods, was a cave that housed the very pillar and power source they were looking for. It was right under their noses the whole time when they went up before, they just went up the wrong side of the mountain to find it. Unfortunately, by the time he finally found the thing, Van was in bad shape by the time they reached the cavern and not even a good night's rest seemed to be helping him anymore.

{Thanks! biggrin }
Mala kept a look of pure worry about her as she stood by Van, constantly doing her best to make sure that no further harm would come to him. At this point, she's even gone on to deny him 'bed privelages'(sp?) until they were able to get him in better shape.

"Van, don't you think we should stop to take a break now?" Riley said worriedly as he stopped. He'd been helping the god along for a while now, and Van certainly wasn't getting any better.
"Like it'll do me any good..." Van panted. The only reason he was still standing and not being carried by Riley was because he was a stubborn b*****d that way. And he didn't even care when Mala cut off his bed priviledges, he was usually out cold by then anyway. "Besides, the faster we get there, the faster we fix things. And at this rate, I'm not even going to be around to save if we don't hurry this up!" In his head, he knew damn well Mala must have had her worry level turned up to eleven, but he'd rather worry her than kick the bucket on her.

"Tell us what to do," Alek murmured, gesturing between him, his siblings, and Lupa. "We'll have it done in minutes."

Mala said nothing at the moment, too concerned with keeping an eye on Van and making sure he didn't kick the bucket right then and there.

"I would, but I can't..." Van said breaking away from Riley for the moment to lean against the wall. "I don't know what the problem is until I get there and see for myself." he panted.

"Well, bugger," Alek said with a sigh. "And you won't let anyone carry you, no matter how much faster that'd be." He let out a soft hum, and Angel abandoned Riley's side for his, letting him take Jezebellun.

"I'm a weakening god, not a damn cripple...If I'm going to kick the bucket, I'd rather do it with some dignity in tact..." Van said before slinging an arm back around Riley's shoulders for him to help him along again.

"I'm not sure I have much of a choice at this point..." Van said with a weak chuckle as the journey continued, slowly but surely, deeper into the cave where sunlight began to dim and vanish all together.

"Honestly." Alek sighed. "You're more mindful of your pride than Lupa's kin." He ignored her quiet insults in wolfspeak.

"Ugh, it's times like this I really wish I wasn't a horrid disgrace with healing magic!" Mala whined softly to herself, her laments barely audible to the others.

"I told you before, healing magic wouldn't work in this situation....You can't heal energy after all..." Van said as they finally came to end of the cave, the room where the pillar of the gods rested. It was an intricately designed pillar, a massive construct of ancient design that seemed to shimmer and glow with a pure white light. Or at least, that's what they should have seen. Instead the old relic was barely glowing and crumbling slightly, covered with large leech-like creatures the size of a human torso. "s**t!" Van cursed as his legs finally gave out from underneath him, catching himself with his hands before his face hit the ground, though even his arms began to shake just trying to hold himself up. "Magical leeches...That would certainly do it...Lord knows where they came from though...." he panted, his whole body starting to flicker and fade as the source of his extistence and power was slowly sucked away.
